Review: This "film" alleges to explore the cultural and personal conflicts of a young Indian American (as in of South Asian descent.)
Surpisingly a "real actress" plays the girlfriend of the angst ridden photographer ( Lesbian photographer? Cliche? Do ya think?!) Jill Hennessy is the "real actress"; she's beautiful, but woefully miscast as the girlfriend; she IS believable as a lesbian. Hennessy is on some tv show in which she plays a coroner--a "hot" Quincy."
Yes, you can fast forward most of it; you won't miss a thing. Oh, the special treat after the end credits roll is the Out takes, and behind the scenes hijinks.
It's delighful, in a painful way, to watch the "bloopers", etc. of course the audio quality of this portion is horrendous.During the film, watch for shadows that seem to be coming from the crew. Also watch for choppy editing and people appearing out of nowhere. I give this movie 4 labyrises ( those god awful axes that symbolize amazon women. Lesbians have been known to wear them.). The more Labyrises, the more awful the film. If "excellent" means "awful" in the lexicon of sarcasm, then this film is "Excellent."

Summary: ...AND BABY MAKES THREE
Review: This is a decent directorial effort by Nisha Ganatra, in this film about families, lesbian lovers, and cultural divides. This film is her first feature film and it shows in its somewhat amateurish constructs. Still, there are some flashes of promise. Reena (Nisha Ganatra), an artist of Indian descent, and Lisa (Jill Hennessey of Law and Order and Crossing Jordan fame) are lovers, despite the fact that Reena's tradition bound Indian mother is in total denial. She is still trying to match Reena up with a member of the opposite sex, refusing to acknowledge Lisa as anything other than Reena's roommate. When Sarita (Sakina Jeffrey), Reena's older sister gets married, she soon discovers that she is infertile. Reena offers to be a surrogate mom, and Sarita initially agrees. After some failed attempts through a fertility clinic, Reena, with the cooperation of Sarita's husband, Mitch, decides to get pregnant the old fashioned way, at home by using a turkey baster. She succeeds where the specialists failed. Unfortunately, this causes problems with her relationship with Lisa, who is initially unable to come to terms with Reena's pregnancy and what it will mean to their relationship. Sarita is also having difficulty, changing her mind when it is too late to turn back. She sees it as a reminder of her own failing and questions the impact that it will have on her life and marriage. Reena's and Sarita's mother, however, grasps the irony of the situation, and eventually comes to terms with it, as well as with the nature of Reena's and Lisa's relationship. Nisha Ganatra should have concentrated on just directing this film, rather than acting in it, as she is no actress and is the weak link in the cast. Moreover, there appears to be little chemistry between her and Jill Hennessey, which does not help the film. There are, however, some very funny moments in this moderately entertaining film, having mostly to do with the character of the mother. As a director Ms. Ganatra displays some promise. It is hoped that in the future she will concentrate on where her talents seem to lie.

Review: This is a good movie but the sound mix on the DVD is appaling! When music play in the 'background' you can't hear the dialog anymore! This spoilt it for me.

Summary: Nisha Ganatra Rules!!
Review: This is an excellent film, I first saw this movie back in June 2001, I don't know how many times I have watched it since, but from the very first time I saw Nisha I thought-Wow what a beautiful woman! The movie was and is outstanding. The other Actresses and Actors were good, too. The storyline was something positive to think about. Reminded me of my younger days, bringing out many emotions, in other words it touched me like hardly any movie has. Nisha is magic. Am looking forward to many more of her creations. This woman has it going on. I am very happy to have gotten the chance to see this movie, then own it, on VHS and DVD.

Review: This is one of the better lesbian films. I must admit I have yet to see anything like it and I liked the fact that it dealt with other races and pregnancy options for lesbians.

Review: This movie was cheesy and poorly done. I found myself laughing at the sad parts and rolling my eyes and the "funny" parts.
The main character was completely unconvincing and her acting seemed forced, at best.
In between "dramatic" scenes, I was forced to watch the lead character have lengthy pensive moments on her motorcycle, which reduced a friend of mine and me to utter hysterics.
As if that weren't bad enough, the lead character's sister ended up taking a pensive ride by the movie's end.
The movie was also predictable...within 5 minutes, I knew it would [stink].
This movie was recommended to me by a friend, and I'm sorry to say, she is no longer my friend. Maybe my review will help save other friendships from a similar fate.

Summary: Good things come to those that wait !
Review: When I first got this film I thought it was going to be another over-ambitious attempt to portray the 'real' life of a lesbian, her partner, friends and family. BUT what I got was a hidden treasure, the film and plot may be slow for some people especially if you are just after a 'quickie', but you are treated to a film that covers a lot of expectations, emotions and issues in people's lives. The story centres around Reena, whom everyone has already 'labelled' as to who and what she is...the 'flakey' sister, the irresponsible daughter, etc. Despite her mother's many attempts to ignore the loving relationship she has with her partner lisa, she still tries to be a good daughter, sister and friend. Then her sister gets married and finds out she cannot have a baby; after watching her sister suffer Reena decides she can help by carrying a baby for her sister. But straight away she is challenged has irresponsible and not thinking clearly. 'How can she think of having a baby when she can't cook and can hardly look after her own life and has silly dreams of being a photographer?' After several attempts with a turkey baster, she gets pregnant but by then her sister doesn't want anything to do with the idea. Her partner is finding it increasing difficult to accept her pregnant girlfriend and her flatmates are not exactly supportive in the low times when her sister stops talking to her, partner leaves her (with a great scene of the partner's mother telling her off for leaving her pregnant girlfriend). But Reena is strong and continues on with the help of her brother-in-law (the father) to carry on and give birth. Slowly she survives and gradually her partner, her family give her the support and love she needs as the birth approaches. You will laugh, you may cry but you will not be left feeling empty like several lesbian & gay themed films of recent times; wondering how good the film COULD have been because this film ends naturally at a point leaving you the viewer to decide how you want the future to be.
