Rating: Summary: comedy about Aids with a message Review: Jeffrey decides he doesn't want to have sex because it has become so difficult to enjoy it with all the dangers of Aids. Of course, his attitude is impossible to maintain when he meets Steve, a gorgeous - and HIV-poisitive- guy. The film shows Jeffrey's struggle to come to terms with his fears, and to not let them stand in the way of a relationship with a man he loves. Friends and family play an important role in helping Jeffrey. Maybe this sounds dull, but it's actually very funny; especially the scene where he calls his parent is hilarious (I won't spoil the fun by telling what he discusses with them). With the current increase in HIV infections, this is again a very topical film that you must see. It shows we have to enjoy life to the full, without losing a sense of reality.
Rating: Summary: What's up with Mother Teresa? Review: Actually it is a very funny movie, despite the social content it is bounded, the movie should be also apreciated by the comedy itself, specially the cameo apearences.
Rating: Summary: DELIGHTFUL Review: Featuring a number of surprising and deft, if slightly theatrical performances, JEFFREY is a winning movie that confronts the issue of a gay man who has developed a fear of sex. Frank, sexy and funny, this adaptation of Paul Rudnick's play moves at a brisk pace, and is nicely opened up for the movie screen. Stephen Weber is adorable as Jeffrey, and Patrick Stewart, Christine Baranski and Sigourney Weaver have funny, funny cameos. While the subject matter seems slightly dated today, given the advances in AIDS drug therapy, the soul and heart of Jeffrey's dilemma is as true today as it was back in the distant late-80s/early-90s. By the final moments, you will find the romance at this movie's heart moving and sweetly real.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: This movie was great. I've watched it over and over again an it hasn't got boring. It is so funny. I wanna burst out laughing at every seen. Steven Weber playing Jeffrey was great. Michael T. Weiss....all I can say is grrrr. Patrick Stewart though stole the show. He was just incredible. I never thought he could pull it off but he did. The jokes are like a slap in the face, it hits u and u wanna start crying because you're laughing so hard. There scenes that r graphic, but hey even I sat there clutching the remote with my mouth wide open, never-the-less I found the movie just excellent. My advise buy the movie, watch it over and over again.
Rating: Summary: HILARIOUS GAY COMEDY-DRAMA Review: Romantic, gay comedy-drama which stars Steven Webber as Jeffrey who has given up sex until he meets the man of his dreams, Steve who is played by Michael Weiss. The comic acting and timing of the witty punchlines are perfect. The dialogue remains highly amusing throughout the film. Theres a great supporting cast which includes Patrick Stewart, Bryan Batt and an excellent cameo apperance from Sigourney Weaver who's delivery is spot on! Hilarious and poignant are the best ways to describe this classic comedy!
Rating: Summary: Very Good, good story, good plot, lovable characters. Review: the story was good.. not a "TRICK" but it was good. It made you think.. What would I have done in Jefrey's Shoes? Anyway I recomend it.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie.... Review: Don't know what it was about the film, but I just couldn't stop watching it. Within a span of 5 days, I saw the movie almost 10 times (on video, of course).Steven Weber wasn't bad at all, though there are times when he seemed superficial and of need of some acting pointers. There are times when he overacted, and other times when feelings that should have come through did not. Otherwise, Weber is pretty good (especially in the kissing scenes). I have to give it to Patrick Stewart: he was great in this film. His ability to portray Sterling as this particular gay guy was great. Overall, his acting was excellent. And Weiss was sexy in this movie. Overall, the film was well worth watching.
Rating: Summary: Witty, Tactless, Direct and Fresh Review: While Jeffrey is not the kind of screwball comedy like those movies of Goldie Hawn, the writing and pace makes it very likeable -- even for the straight viewers. While we have been entertained by actors talking to the viewer, this film uses them as clever "asides" to brighten the pace of the film. While, again, the issue is about relationships, it is clear that the direct approach, combined with the oftentimes "tactlessness" of the characters -- the focus is predominatly about HIV. The freshness of the writing is clever. This makes the movie "easy to watch, hard to let go of". Of course, the fact that almost everyone in the film is a "known star," keeps you lauging and laughing. (I trully loved Sigourney Weaver! ) Anyone who buys this film will never regret it.
Rating: Summary: BEST GAY FILM TO DATE Review: JEFFREY is a successful combination of ace writing, directing, acting and photographing. It`s a homage to the joy of living your life to the fullest.
Rating: Summary: Witty, Charming and Romantic Review: This beautiful story is a heart-felt gem! I saw this movie about five years ago with my sister and it has since been one of my favorite films. This film was the first of it's kind to dive into the touchy subject of AIDs in the Gay community and to see such gifted actors portray these lovable characters was an amazing experience. Highly enjoyable!
