Summary: Alsolutely the best comedy
Review: I was dragged to go see this gem. On leaving the theatre, I could barely drive the car I was still laughing so hard. The characters had such depth and the actors did an amazing job in bringing them to life. I hope that this goes to dvd so I can enjoy it over and over again. Thank god I live in the Palm Springs area and was able to see this on the big screen.
See this film!

Summary: Why wasn't this released in the UK?
Review: I've just come back from Palm Springs where everyone was raving about this film. They said I'd be laughing my head off and they were right.

It's the funniest film I've seen in years.

It all centres on the death of the town's respectable mother & sister who goes on a sex spree after, allegedly, suffing from a tumour in the brain. After having sex with her daughters best friends husband, she trips over his false legs and dies. We only ever see her later in the film in the coffin being cursed at by all those left behind to cope with the mess.

But the show is stolen by Brotherboy, who is the above's son, a camp enough soul with a healthy & harmless obsession with dressing up in women's clothes. Here's one scene:

"Oh my god. You've got no panties!" Screams Brotherboy whilst being seduced by his analyst in the mental asylum where's he's been committed there by his mother for the past 20years to protect him from the mean world that won't tolerate his love of dressing up as Tammy Wynette. The analyst is frustrated at his refusal to take masterbation excersices to cure him of his homosexuality - hence proving her theory that it can be cured and giving her a chance of appearing on Oprah.
"Did you try the masterbation excercises and think of a woman?" she asks. "Yes I did try and thought of Miss Jane Hathaway [from Beverly Hillbillies]"
"My god" moans the analyst "She's hardly a women, she's more of a man in drag"
"Yes I know" says Brotherboy,"Which got me on to thinking of Jetherine..."

This film must come out on video soon so I can buy loads of copies to give to all my friends.

If you ever get the chance to see this movie gem, drop whatever you're doing and run for a ticket straight away.

Oh and Beau Bridges is fat & ugly and Olivia Newton-John plays a mean looking Country & Western lesbian.

Summary: Sordid Lives
Review: My husband and I sought out Sordid Lives and went out of our way to see this movie. It doesn't appear to be playing "very" (and this is an understatement) many places. We both thought this movie full of heart, great characterizations by the actors, pathos - and it was the FUNNIEST movie that we had seen in absolutely years. When we weren't laughing we were crying (but not very often, unless we were crying because we were laughing!) The actors were all superb! Why is this movie not playing in every movie theatre in every city and why are there no reviews in newspapers such as the L.A. Times and The San Francisco Chronicle? A friend kept reminding me to see in it Palm Springs because her friends kept reminding her. Yes, we are Art Movie fans but we see mainstream movies too and this is the best of the best in our opinions. Get the word out. Sordid Lives in just Great!!!!

Review: The funniest movie since the " The Producers!"

Summary: I Laughed So Hard
Review: I can't remember when I have seen a funnier movie. The casting is perfect and the one-liners are worth remembering. It's worth seeing again and I want the video when it comes out. Unfortunately it's only playing in Palm Springs.

Summary: Sold Out and Hilarious
Review: Unfortunately we could only see this movie once since it was a "sold out" show in Tampa, FL. The whole audience was rolling with laughter the whole time the movie was playing. We can't wait for this movie to be release on DVD. The cast was great and we hope there is a sequel.

Summary: Sordid Lives is ONE FUNNY MOVIE!
Review: I have not laughed this hard in I don't know how long. My face hurt! Everyone in the movie was laughing OUT LOUD throughout the entire show. I'm so surprised this was not a HUGE block-buster movie. All of the characters were so unique - and their personalities came through so you felt you knew them. Very clever writing, with so many jokes built in to every word. I'm buying this as soon as it's on DVD - it's one of those movies you can put on at any time and laugh like it's the first time you've seen it.

Summary: Absolutely Hilarious!!!
Review: ...I wasn't sure what it was going to be like, or if I was going to enjoy it or not. Let me tell you, I have never laughed so hard in my entire life!! I was laughing so hard I thought I was going to get thrown out of the theatre! Before too long though, everyone was laughing histerically. I loved this movie! I certainly hope more people will have the opportunity to view this wonderful movie.

Summary: RUN TO SEE THIS MOVIE...
Review: I didn't know what to expect when the houselights dimmed, but by the end credits I had laughed, cried, and laughed even more. The cast is brilliant and the script and music...FANTASTIC. I can't say enough about it!!! This is truly one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. It's hard to find information on it, but I hope for everyone's sake that it comes back out in theatres and especially on DVD/VHS. A MUST SEE movie. If you see it playing in your area...RUN to the theatre!!!

Summary: I know these people
Review: I was taken by surprise, literally, to see this film on a recent trip to Palm Springs where it has been playing by popular acclaim for several months. I sat bolt upright, laughing until I cried, my stomach hurting, when I saw and heard scenes from my youth in central California (which has a heavy "southern" influence from the dust bowl days). Bonnie Bedelia lifting up the pie plate to see who made the pie, Ty reliving his shame as the clothing store salesman notes "he'll need huskies" when buying pants for school, and some of the most outrageous relatives who "know" and yetlove and accept us more than we ever realized. Delta Burke shines and deserves to have the world see her at her funniest--and her slimmest. Bonnie Bedelia delivers what should be an Oscar quality performance and the entire cast is never off-key or over the top. No matter where we were born, most of us grew up in "small towns" and even when we are ashamed of those towns and the people who inhabit them, they still inhabit us and make us what we are to others and to recognize the craziness and laugh such a good laugh, such a true laugh is what this film is all about.
