Rating: Summary: Laugh a minute fun Review: A remake of its predecessor, EVIL DEAD 2 is done much better. With a higher budget, Raimi made a version with better film, sound, and adds some hilarious slapstick bits Three Stooges style. I am brought to tears from laughing my *** off at stuff like the possessed hand, the talking appliances and mounted deer head, and the head biting Ash and his frenzy to get it off by smashing it all over the house. Get it-ITS GREAAAAAAT!
Rating: Summary: BOBBI JOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: The first time I saw this movie (about 1988), I came in right when the elk head and the lamp and everything are laughing, and I was glued! I have never lost interest in this movie at all. I wore out my first VHS copy from rewinding little bits over and over ("Swallow this","Groovy", etc.) Everytime I watch it I am brought to tears from laughing my ass off! Some may dismiss it as cheap, low-budget fodder. But the truth is that it is extremely sharp and clever, full of ideas I have never seen before or since in a movie. And the actor, Bruce Campbell, who portrays Ash, should be up there sharing Jim Carrey's popularity. It's one of those great movies you just gotta have!
Rating: Summary: Best cult flick of all time Review: I dont know, but every time i watch this movie i end up laughing so hard i cry. My friends think im insane, but I guess they just dont get it...Ash rules! Dont forget to check out Army of Darkness, its almost equal in laugh a minute format.
Rating: Summary: Very stylish, very funny and even scary. Review: Picture this, a man on his wits end, trapped in the woods, surrounded by demons, fighting off his own hand. Sounds kinda like "Liar Liar," right? Well, its not, but its even funnier than "Liar Liar." It's Bruce Campbell, back for more in "The Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn," a funny, special effects-packed, gag-filled shockfest that only the combined talents of Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi could make work. The film opens with a sort of recap of the events that transpired in the first "Evil Dead," with the exceptions being that his friends were never there with him, it was only him and his girlfriend, and the bridge that he crosses to get to the cabin looks a hell of a lot more sturdy then the wooden nightmare we see in the first film. Bruce Campbell's performance in this film is laughably horrible, but I suppose that's something that adds to the enjoyment of the film, so I don't really hold it against him. The film is chock-full of sight gags that include Bruce trying to fight off his own hand, which he cuts off with a chainsaw--but then the hand wanders around on it's own and flips Campbell the bird in the film's funniest moment. After a while of being alone, a group of people come to the cabin, looking for the cabin's original inhabitant--a scientist whose research is responsible for the film's scariest moment, down in the cellar ("Let's go down to the basement and carve ourselves a witch"). Then, of course, any person who has seen this film cannot forget the piece-de-resistance, the attachment of the chainsaw to Bruce Campbell's crudely amputated right hand. This film was an all-around joy for me to watch. And although I still don't own it, yet, I'm definitely gonna grab it off of some shelf, and I suggest you do the same. P.S. I also highly recommend "Army of Darkness." Check out my review for it.
Rating: Summary: One of the best cult films in the entire universe! Review: I'm quite sure that the adulation I hold for "Evil Dead II" will be redundant in lieu of the overwhelimng list of rave Amazon reviews, but I don't care! Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell were downright geniuses when producing this remake (yes remake, not sequel) of the original Evil Dead film that I thought was a dismal dud. For the most part, I definitely don't revere this pic from a horror mindset, but from an insanely-funny screwball comedy perspective! Campbell's "Ash" gives such an indellible performance complete with tour-de-force physical comedy (accompanied with mean chainsaw, sawed-off shotgun, and Peter Deming's zany cinematography) and one-liners that will melt away the Ebenezer in all of us! Sure, the acting's cheesy, the violence explicit, and the screaming near hilarious. But, "Evil Dead II" is truly one of the best-of-the-best in the B-horror movie realm (even Roger Ebert thought this flick was indeed GROOVY!)
Rating: Summary: Five laughing, bloody stars. And a severed hand... Review: I really cannot describe this movie in words, as it is something that MUST be seen. It is so cleverly written, directed, acted, etc. that it is amazing. Quit reading this and order the movie. It was unavailable for a long time, but it's back. Oh yeah, try turning the color in your tv to black and white and watch it again. You'll be visiting Amazon.com again to order another copy after you wear your first one out.
Rating: Summary: No words can describe. Review: It was about 2 am on a school night back in 87' when I first saw Evil Dead 2. I was just looking to see what was on Cinemax before I went to sleep, and ED 2 was about 5 mins in already. Once I got a glimpse of the movie I physically could not stop watching. It was mesmerizing! I had never, and still haven't, seen anything like it before. Completely original and totally entertaining.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: Fresh, stylish, and bound to bring enjoyment to those with strong stomachs. Not only is this a horror movie it also has a sense of humor.
Rating: Summary: Good movie. Review: HELLOOOOO Folks. Evil Dead 2 is not a sequel to Evid Dead. It was intended to be a remake of the original with more "well know" actors. I hope this clears it up for some people.
Rating: Summary: Incredible Review: A hillarious sequel to the original gore show is just a laugh a minute. With creepy effects and one of my favorite scenes in movie history, ( the scene where Ash is in the cabin and everything begins to giggle: soon he joins in the madness ) this is a sequel well worth your time. If you are a fan of the original you will not be dissapointed.
