Rating: Summary: What not to do on a car trip Review: At one point, Chevy Chase was the man. His movies were hilarious, namely "Fletch" (the first film), "Caddyshack", "Spies Like Us", and "Three Amigos"). My favorite Chevy Chase movie is definitely "National Lampoon's Vacation". Chevy Chase plays Clark Griswold who takes his family on a vacation to Wally's World via a very ugly station wagon. It is a cross country trip. What was supposed to be a fun, harmless trip turns to be a living nightmare for Clark and his brood. The trip gets off on the wrong foot when Clark picks up the car at the car dealership only to find out that the car he wanted was never ordered but instead got a really ugly '70s station wagon. Everything that could go wrong on a car trip does go wrong. One of my favorite moments was when the family stops to visit his wife Ellen's cousin Catherine (Miriam Flynn) who includes then unknown Jane Krakowski as the hilarious cousin Vicki and Randy Quaid as cousin Eddie. The trip quickly goes downhill when they Aunt Edna (Imogene Cocoa) joins the family in the car with her dog who is far from kind and gentle. For me this film was a non-stop laughs like when the family got lost in the desert. I especially loved it when Clark flirts with Christie Brinkley as she drives by in her Ferrari. I laughed even harder when the family stops at a park for a picnic lunch and Chevy sees Christie shooting a commercial nearby. Of all the "Vacation" movies made, nothing beats the original.
Rating: Summary: Chase's Best Vehicle Review: Chevy Chase's film career after leaving "Saturday Night Live" is checkered at best. For every "Vacation" or "Fletch" film he made their were three "Cops and Robbersons" or "Under the Rainbow" type films. Fortunately for Chase, he hit paydirt with the role of Clark Griswald, family man whose best intentions for quality time with his kinfolk are met usually with disaster. This film is a series of collectively funny set pieces. Whether he's reluctantly visiting with his wife's inbred relatives, tying Aunt Edna's dog to the back bumper, Clark maintains a cheery persona for the sake of his family. Nothing will get in the way for the dream vacation to Walley World. The only "joke" that falls flat here is the appearance of super model Christy Brinkley as the mystery woman who seems to be pursuing Clark. It seems to be a parody of the blonde in the T-Bird from "American Graffiti" but it doesn't work.
Rating: Summary: A WHOLE LOT OF LAUGHS!!!!!! Review: FUNNY IS ALL I CAN SAY ABOUT THIS MOVIE. THE TRIP FROM START TO FINISH TO AUNT EDNAS'S TO WALLEYWORLD NOTHING BUT LAUGHS. ANTHONY MICHAEL HALL APPEARS IN HERE AS RUSTY HE WAS FUNNY . THE MOVIE REALLY CRACKED ME UP THIS IS A MUST HAVE FOR ANY VACATION OR CHEVY CHASE FAN. I LOVE THIS MOVIE I THINK THAT IS A MUST HAVE IF YOU WANT A WHOLE LOT OF LAUGHS!!!!
Rating: Summary: Ohhhhh the horror of it..... :) Review: Everybody who's ever endured The Vacation From Hell can relate to this! This How Did We Survive The Horror remains a classic 20 years after its release because we all understand. What is it about parents...God gives them eyes in the backs of their heads, but takes away their sense. Clark Griswold is everybody's dad, the guy who honestly believes the best way to have fun and bond with his family is to take them on a horrible two thousand mile road trip....and then is honestly surprised when the family is bored to death and wants to kill him before it's all over. Christie Brinkley, in her first big screen role as the Fantasy Babe in the sportscar is unforgettable despite her small role - has anybody ever listened to the Pointer Sisters "I'm So Excited" and NOT thought about this movie?? Relive the memories, both cinematic and personal, with this one.
