Summary: Stands Up to Repeat Viewings
Review: This movie is entertaining on so many levels as other reviewers here have noted. jack Lemmon's performance in this is absolutely hysterically funny. One of the best comic performances ever put on film. Tony Curtis and Marilyn are excellent in their roles as well. What really prompted me to write this however is that I wanted to comment on the roles of Pat O'Brien and George Raft in Some Like It Hot. While their characters are not as central to the plot they are amazing everytime they appear on screen. Pat O'Brien as a wisecracking detective who spoofs the whole wisecracking detective genre and shows up out of no where repeatedly to verbally joust with George Raft's gangster character. These exchanges are some of the most memorable in the movie. No mistake, Jack Lemmon made this film a classic but there are many many great performances and great moments that make this a movie to watch again and again.

Summary: Still Hot
Review: Billy Wilder's 1959 comedy Some Like It Hot is full of sharp and witty humor that is brought to life by a spirited cast. Tony Curtis & Jack Lemmon star as Joe & Jerry, two Chicago musicians in the 1920's Prohibition era, who on down on their luck. They accept a job playing for mobster Spats Colombo (George Raft) at his funeral parlor which is a front for a speakeasy. The police raid the club and shut it down and they again out of work. They go to a musical booking agency where they learn of a dream job down in Florida, with all transportation and expenses paid, with a band who need a saxophone and bass player (which happens to be the guy's instruments). The offer is a set up from the secretary, who Joe stood up for a date, as the catch is that it's an all female band. Joe tries to convince Jerry to take it by dressing up as woman, but he refuses and they accept another job in Urbana. While on their way there, they stop for gas when they inadvertently witness the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. They are spotted as witnesses and are set to be rubbed out when they try to get the all girl gig and are surprised when they get it. When then see to two in full drag wobbling on heels to the train with the new names of Josephine & Daphne. It is on the train where the real humor of the film comes through. They met the lead singer of the band Sugar Kane Kowalczyk played by a never sexier Marilyn Monroe. Each of them try to gain her favor, but Jerry ends up being hit on by a lecherous Osgood Fielding III (Joe E. Brown) who is completely taken with Daphne. The interplay between Mr. Lemmon & Mr. Brown is filled with perfect comedic timing and is a seminar in farcical comedy. During their time in Florida, Joe tries to win Sugar's heart by meeting her out of drag character and pretends to be a millionaire. All the while Spats has come to Florida and he finds the two musicians and wants to rub them out finally. In the end, Joe, Jerry & Sugar escape on Osgood's yacht where he proposes to Daphne. Daphne makes up a bunch of different reasons why they can't marry to which Osgood replies he doesn't care. Finally Daphne rips off his wig and I declares "I'm a man" to which Osgood delivers one of the best closing lines in film history, "well, nobody's perfect". The film was nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Actor (Mr. Lemmon), Best Director and Best Screenplay, but only took home one award for Costume design. The film was recently voted the number one comedy of all-time by the American Film Institute.

Summary: ..."nothing's perfect"...it is perfect!
Review: One of the most hillarious movies of all time. With Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis's portrail of girls the result most be roll on your back laughter. Marilyn Monroe (as usual) is charming and sings her ever so famous number "I wanna be kissed by you." Although it is not only her musical talent which is displayed, she also amazingly ablivious to the fact that her two new friends are men! Joe E. Brown adds to this comedy with his memorible last line wich I named this reveiw for; after Lemmon had Brown fall in love with him, he tries to give exuses on why they can't marry (he goes all the way from my hair isn't naturel to we can't have children, and finally I'm a man) the response from Brown is "nothing's perfect."

Summary: 3 great stars in a 5 Star Movie!
Review: This is another flick my wife forced me to buy. She didn't have to force me to watch it though. Once I saw Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon pretending to be women, I couldn't stop laughing. Of course, Marilyn Monroe is a delight as always. I highly recommend this movie with lots of popcorn.

Summary: Hot, Hot, Hot
Review: There is nothing like these old videos. When they were made they were the hotest things out. However 20 years later, 11/02 this video looks like child's play. I still loved it nonetheless.

Summary: The funniest movie I've ever seen.
Review: It's rare that I actually laugh out loud at a movie, but I did when I watched Some Like It Hot. Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon star as Joe and Jerry, two musicians in 1929 who accidentally witness the St. Valentine's Day massacre. Since the mob is now after them to silence them for good, Joe and Jerry pose as women in an all-girls band. Joe is now Josephine and Jerry is Daphne. They meet the beautiful singer of the group, Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe), on the train to Florida and quickly become friends with her.

Jack Lemmon was absolutely hysterical in his role! Nobody could've done it as well as he could. Tony Curtis was also funny (his impersonations were fantastic), especially when he played a British millionaire with his own yacht when he was trying to woo Sugar Kane.

If you haven't seen Some Like It Hot, you're definitely missing a gem. It is, hands down, the funniest movie I have ever watched. Plus, the clarity on the DVD is very clear. Highly, highly recommended!
