Review: who says cheap movies are bad? clerks is a black and white documentary-style movie, done with less than $30,000, and thats ok. kevin smith is a great director. from what ive heard, dogma is going to be big.

Summary: Brian Lynch & Vin' Pereia love scene reason enough to buy
Review: A viewer from Shermer Illinois , April 12, 1999 Brian Lynch & Vin' Pereia love scene reason enough to buy This scene, cut from the original for it's steamy passion, is enough to make this DVD my first choice for Christmas this year. Brian's portrayal of Kiki Derris the wise apple lover of Ethan Sups (Pereia) will bring tears to the eyes of all but the most hardened. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but when Kiki Derris said "I'm just a bitter overweight queen and nobody loves me" I wept.

Other highlights from the restored cut scenes were "Randal's Sexuality Revealed," "Ming the Asian Design Major and Dante Fight," and "Lenin's Tomb gets Run Over."

What may be the most impressive thing about this special edition DVD is not what was put back into the film but what was taken out. In the scene with the ambulance driver and "Dante," a completely new actor was digitally superimposed over the original ambulance driver a la Star Wars Special Edition. The superimposed actor, Eon Bailey, adds new life and real acting ability to the roll of "The Ambulance Driver." Eerily this is the only black and white scene in this colorized version.

I can't say enough about this DVD...buy!!! buy!!! buy!!!

Summary: An excellent low budget movie that epitomizes working
Review: If you love high quality and slick production you will hate this movie. If you admire and seek excellent and award winning acting ability you will vomit upon viewing of this film.

This movie is all about working in a menial job and a persons lot in life. The choices they make to remain there and the amount of responsibility the choose to accept. The wit used to write the movies dialog is astounding but at times too thought out. It sounds like a universtiy student writing lines for the uneducated.

This movie is very vulgar, but then so are some people in our society. Personally I enjoyed the frank language and dailog used. However, one could easily be offended.

This movie is very age limited in it's scope. I have yet to find any one under 21 who liked it and anyone over 33 who could stand it.

Truly I'd like to give this movie 4.98 stars out of five just because I thought it wasn't perfect but pretty darn close.

Summary: Incredible Movie. . . Poor DVD
Review: I was one of the fortunate few to see Clerks in the theater when it was first released. I bought the VHS version as soon as it was made available to the public. I have watched this movie more times then I care to admit and think it is one of the funniest, smartest and most accurate portrayal of life in the retail sales world. The movie is fantastic.

That being said, I ordered my Collector's Edition of Clerks early and was looking forward to seeing the deleted scenes and listening to Kevin Smith's commentary explaining scenes, why certain scenes were edited out, what he liked and what he disliked about the final cut. An earlier critic shares my feelings completely. "(T)he deleted scenes are just long versions of the scenes in the movie; the audio commentary tells you nothing about how the movie was made..."

Kevin Smith is extremely talented and I can only hope that he had little to do with this DVD release.

As for the quality of the conversion, the DVD has a fair amount of artifact from the conversion from celluloid to digital. The sound quality is average and bonus materials are poor. Save your money and buy it on video. You're not missing anything and the picture quality is probably even a little superior.

Clerks is a five star movie. This DVD is a one star DVD.

Summary: Totally down to earth
Review: This film was classic. It touches base with the average life and thats why it is so funny. I read in one review it was amateurish. NO, it wasn't. it was it was a day in the life of you and me and then some.

BUY IT, you will love it

Summary: Great movie, wrong price Disney
Review: I loved the movie, but Disney stuck a high price tag on the DVD. The Pleasantville DVD includes 2 commentaries, storyboards, documentaries for less. I will still buy the DVD, but wait till you find a sale or Disney lowers the price.

Summary: Damn funny!
Review: This movie was so funny. This film will have you talking about it with your friends for days. And the way it was directed was great for this film. Not only that, the choice in which it is seen in black and white makes it even better. Watch this movie, it's one of the greatest.
