Summary: Jamie Foxx is great fun in the lead role.
Review: After his impressive dramatic performance from Oliver Stone`s Any Given Sunday. The plot:Micheal(Foxx) and Rae(Nia Long) are vacation together thier destination is to go to Chicago. Since her girlfriend leave him in a unusual corner store. Then after his car is stolen by some punk kid. Then the worst came, when a small gang of robbers, are taking hostages in that corner store. But the good thing, the hostages are getting along with the robbers. The robbers are getting along the hostages also. Unusual premise upset by too much stupid moments or plot twist. But the film is entertaining enough to made this a plesent viewing. DVD Picture Quality is good and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround is impressive with some deep .1 lfe. Grade:B.

Summary: Get a big straw from the kitchen...
Review: because sucking is the only way one can take this movie! I love Jamie and find Nia to be such a "lady". But someone in Tinseltown other than Jamie was extremely anxious or needed Pamper money and threw this together. I wouldn't wish this crap on anyone. If you saw the trailer you saw ALL of the good scenes!

Summary: Very Funny
Review: Coming off a tough deadline, all I was looking for was something to make me laugh. That's why I chose a Jamie Foxx film. He usually cracks me up. And Nia Long is a very talented actress. She's always good, no matter what venue I've seen her in.

These two had great chemistry. Nia is the put-upon girlfriend who's highly upset because her boyfriend has spent their nest egg on a vintage Edsel (can you believe he bought an EDSEL? ). Anyway, they're on vacation, in the middle of Nevada, driving this car that doesn't even have a decent sound system, just an 8-track tape player. He only has one 8-track tape, Tony Orlando and Dawn. I can feel the sister's irritation at this dope.

Once she learns he's emptied their joint account to purchase this car, she gets so angry she leaves him in the middle of a desert town. Then his car is stolen and the fun really begins.

While he's inside a convenience store, after calling the local sheriff to report his car being stolen, the store is held-up by three bumbling criminals. Chaos ensues.

For the rest of the movie, Jamie Foxx's character has one goal, to emerge unscathed out of a hostage situation inside the convenience store in order to make it to the airport before the love of his life flies out of it forever.

Like I said in the beginning, all I was looking for was something to make me laugh. HELD UP was surprisingly deep in some instances. Yes, there is a little bathroom humor, but I don't think I heard the F word once. And that was quite refreshing.

I say, WATCH IT!

Summary: Held Up really does hold up
Review: Even though Jamie Foxx has "played" for doing this film, its actually very funny especially the ode to Earth Wind and Fire.

Summary: That one bad movie on their acting resume
Review: Every actor has that one bad movie on their resume. Held up is that movie for Jamie Foxx and Nia Long. When the credits started to run I was so relieved because I did not like this movie. I did not laugh, and it took all my self control not to open my DVD player, take this movie and toss it like a Frisbee!!!

Michael's (Jamie Foxx) girlfriend finds out he spend their money they were saving for a house on the car they are riding in she gets angry and leaves him in the middle of now where in Nevada. Michael's cherished car is then stolen while he is in a connivance store, and then the very story is held up by some bumbling crooks. All Michael wants is to get his car back and find his way to the airport to make up with his girlfriend and beg her forgiveness. Instead he is trying to negotiate with the backwards law enforcement and the crook to get out unscathed. I really wanted to like this movie being that I'm such a huge fan of Jamie and Nia's, I even like Jake Busey, but this movie was so pathetic, there was nothing I enjoyed more then returning this movie to the rental place.

Nia's talents were really wasted in this film. She is in the very beginning, and then mostly in the end. I don't care how much you want to get away from your man when you are angry, I do not know a single sister who would get on the back of a pick up truck with a bunch of red necks in the middle of nowhere!!! The jokes were not funny. Do yourself a favor and pass on this movie.

Summary: Pretty Weak Film
Review: Fox could have did a lot better than choosing a role like this. His character was pretty lame, and this was an all around poor production and waste of good actor and actress talent (Nia Long)

Summary: This movie is FUNNY!
Review: I dont recall ths movie ever being in theaters, but that doesn't mean it isn't good, in fact, it's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Jamie Foxx is hillarious as usual, while Nia Long lends her great acting, great comedy, and her great body to this one. The whole plot is ridiculous, but that makes the movie all the more better. It's about a convienence store in the middle of the Arizona desert that gets robbed by a couple of bumbling crooks that have no idea what they're doing. Foxx's character just so happened to be there when the store was "held up" and he needs to get to the airport to make up with his girlfriend (played by Nia Long) before she leaves, but he can't, because now the cops have surrounded the store and set the stage for some great humor. Held Up sits among Wayne's World and Office Space as one of the best comedies ever, so do yourself a favor and buy it.

Summary: Nonstop Comedy
Review: I love this movies. It's a must see. My family wanted two weeks to see this movies, but it was worth the wait. If you watch the Jamie Foxx show, you know how funny he is in the TV series. This movie is double the comedy. Nia Long was wonderful. Nia is very multi-talented, you go girl. Keep Up the good work. Waiting for the next one with the two of you.

Summary: Side splitting!
Review: I loved this movie. It was funny and loaded with some of the most interesting characters I've seen in a long time. Jamie Foxx is charming and charasmatic. And the rest of the cast are all very talented actors, especially Barry Corbin, who plays the sheriff of the town Jamie gets stuck in. This movie was cleaver and sweet all at the same time. A definate must see for the whole family.
