Summary: Well worth multiple viewings!
Review: This is, put simply, one of the most entertaining films of the last decade or so...except of course for viewers who can't abide too much profanity or violence. With an absolutely brilliant script (Tarantino's wordplay skills are every bit as strong as his storytelling is irreverent and unconventional) and performances that do it more than justice, backed by a rollicking, hand-picked soundtrack, PF succeeds in captivating one for the better part of two and a half hours. With little regard for chronology, the film jumps back and forth in time, eventually ending up at more or less the same point where it began - but if you think there's no method in this apparent madness, try out a simple experiment...piece the events of the film together in their right order and then imagine how it would appear onscreen in that, 'logical' form...you'll probably be surprised at how hollow and ineffective the end product would be! At any rate, what impresses me most about this film is, as mentioned earlier, it's entertainment quotient. It's all very well for analytical-minded viewers to endlessly discuss what the briefcase contains, the Biblical parallels of the Travolta/Jackson/Willis/Rhames characters, and various other themes - but the upshot is that this is, in its own right, an immensely watchable film that played an important role in rejuvenating the medium in the mid-90s.

Summary: The most clever, witty movie of the 90's
Review: To call "Pulp Fiction" ingenious would be an understatement. Everything about this movie just seems to be perfect, from the acting to the directing to the dialogue to the soundtrack to the storyline--well, the list goes on and on. Just the style, the atmosphere, the environment surrounding this fascinating group of people, draws you in and keeps you enthralled until the very last line ("I think we should be leaving") is uttered. Though the characters do perform technically "illegal" acts, one must look beyond the acts themselves and see people who struggle with justifying these acts. This is what makes this movie simply brilliant, its endless shades of gray infusing a vividly colorful film.

Summary: A course in miracles?
Review: Normally I would hate this kind of manipulative movie. But it only goes to show: people only hate being manipulated when it is done badly, when they can see what's coming. In this movie, you can't. Part of that is manipulation. The story is not told in order, but broken into pieces. Then the pieces are shuffled. Nothing occurs in chronological order. The Hero actually rides off into the sunset with his girl in the middle of the movie (though in the temporal sequence that's the last thing to happen). It's a gangster movie with a sub-text. Anybody who has seen Quentin Tarantino in "Sleep with Me" knows what I am talking about. Tarrantino's character, in that movie, insists the movie "Top Gun" is not about jet pilots. It's about Tom Cruise's struggle with homosexuality. "Top Gun" is never the same movie after that. I suspect, in the same way, that Pulp Fiction is not a movie about gangsters, but about miracles, redemption and newness of life. Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta are the central characters, a couple of hit men who make their murderous way through life until something amazing happens that separates them. They disagree as to the event's nature, one taking it as a miracle, the other as an accident. They go their separate ways (they must, a hit man who believe he has seen a miracle can't be a hit man anymore). This leaves in it's wake several small acts of redemption and reconciliation. All of it is prefigured in the first story by the raising of the dead.This movie has a sub-text.

Summary: "FICTION" is the highlight of the 90's
Review: Pulp Fiction is the best movie that I have ever seen, and I have seen alot of them. Alot of people would not agree with me because either a) They get easily offended b) They arent smart enough to figure out how the movie works. Please dont listen to all those people who say not to watch this movie, because you would be missing one of the greatest movies of our time.

Summary: This is not your traditional Pulp.
Review: Yes, this is a gangster film. Yes, the level of bloodshed and carnage is enough to make the average American housewife run from the theatre in horror. But this is more than those things. Underneath a violent veneer is a very moral movie. It is a story about a dedication to the human conscience. But if morality is one thing you could care less to see in the movies, then you will surely enjoy the dialogue and interactions between the film's unique characters. Enjoy.

Summary: The title says it--a visualization of a dime novel!
Review: This film puts into pictures what trashy dime-novels pack within their pages. It truly lives up to the title. This is actually 3 films running simultaneously, with seperate plots twisting their way to a combined conclusion. The action gets a bit rough (even for an R-rating!), but its stars shine throughout the movie. One of my favorite scenes is the "Miserlou-Dance" between John Travolta and Uma Thurman. That's an awesome Surf-Instrumental perfectly used in that scene. "Pulp Fiction" was nominated for Best Picture at the 1995 Academy Awards. I think it should have won. I would caution you to not show this film to pre-teens, the subject matter is for more mature audiences.

Review: When it comes to a stupid movie, Pulp Fiction takes the cake. What is the big deal? The movie is stupid, it isn't funny, it didn't have a pattern, and why do I want to watch two fools driving around with splattered brains in their hair for? Is that a good movie?

Summary: Who's one of the best directors in Hollywood?
Review: If you said Quentin Tarintino then "Disco"(a line delivered by Uma Thurman as Mia). I love Quentin Tarintino's films he has a unique twisted touch that no other director has in the film industry. Never before have I seen a film like Pulp Fiction, a funky collection of differnt goings on all involving a cast of very diverse characters. This film has action,comedy and some revival of catch phrases from past generations. One of my favorite scenes would have to be the dance contest, and then the scene in the car where the gun accidently goes off. So if your a fan of twisted anything is possible films and Tarintino than pick this up.

Summary: Great film, disappointing DVD
Review: Pulp Fiction, one of the best movies of all time if you can tolerate its 257 f-word references..., is a disappointment as a DVD. Picture and sound quality are top-notch. However the VHS version of Pulp contains behind-the-scenes talks with the director, deleted scenes, and one would expect to see this - and more - on the DVD. It is nowhere to be found. True fans may want to get the DVD for picture and sound clarity, but the VHS version for content. A phenomenal genre-creating film that has escalated well beyond its original cult status, but a letdown for DVD technology. My DVD player (Apex brand) often skips when playing the letterbox format of this DVD.

Summary: One of the best film's of the 1990's
Review: When I first saw Pulp Fiction I was blown away.Tarantino managed to develop a gangster movie that is funny, sad, witty and shocking. And I LOVE the running joke in the film (that being of Travolta alway's stuck in the loo whenever anything goes wrong). The editing was imaginative, throwing every character together at one point or another, and instead of the average ending (which would have been Willis and his girlfriend riding of into the sunset) we have the film going out in blazes. Great cast, great script, great film.
