Summary: This is for Linnea
Review: Pulp Fiction was and still is an innovative movie. It presented us with 3 different but connected stories. This movie has all the elements that a 5-star film needs. These include great acting, thought-provoking drama, and moral and psychological elements. The movie is really funny and its great actors and director keep you interested throughout its 154 minute running time. Tarantino makes this film a comedy, gangster film, and a tale about redemption by using clever dialogue throughout the film. It was one of the first movies to have different stories shown in non-linear style. The best part about this is that as the movie goes along, the stories start getting connected when finally at the end you understand everything. It gets better with each viewing because it has so many little details, each time you see it you find more. Another thing that I love about the film is the way it represents American pop culture. Every bit of dialogue and especially the "Jack Rabbit Slim's" scenes prove this. Tarantino has so many different influences in his style but the movie seems that it came from only from HIS imagination because he does it so well. This is not only a good and important film (it is on EVERY "Top 100 movies of all-time" list), it's a highly entertaining one. Ask all the people who've seen it what they think, and they'll tell you I ain't lyin'.

Summary: a fine piece of storytelling
Review: Pulp Fiction has often been hailed as one of the greatest films made-certainly one of the best in modern times (along with Fargo, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and the Star Wars trilogy). And it is easy to see why. Beside being a great film, it catapulted Tarantino into the public's eye, revived the dead career of John Travolta, introduced us to Tim Roth, reminded us of Harvey Keitel and Ving Rhames, gave us so many catch phrases, and ingrained itself into American pop culture. This is arguably Tarantino's best film (only Reservoir Dogs can compete with it) and after watching it, there is little room for doubt about the greatness of the film. As a film, volumes can be written on it, and I can't say enough of it here.

Now, on to the dvd... We've waited 10 years for a special edition. But has it been worth the wait? I think so. It is a 2 disc set, in an attractive slipcover case. Disc 1 contains the movie and an enhanced trivia track. No, there is not a commentary track, but the trivia track fills in (somewhat) nicely. I do wish Tarantino had chosen to include a commentary track. There is also a section called 'Soundtrack Chapters.' Anyone who has seen Pulp Fiction (or any Tarantino movie for that matter), knows how important music is to the film. This option allows you to jump to the various music selections in the film. Disc 2 contains deleted scenes, a behind the scenes montage (weak), a documentary ("Pulp Fiction: The Facts"), the Independent Spirit Awards (where Pulp Fiction won), the Palm d'Or Acceptance Speech, a production design featurette, Siskel and Ebert's "At the Movies" segment on the 'Tarantino generation,' Tarantino's appearance on the Charlie Rose show, as well as trailers, tv spots, stills, and articles and reviews. And it is loaded with dvd-rom extras. The dvd was worth the wait (even without a commentary track), and it is finally nice to see dvd worthy of the film.

Summary: Meet me at Jack Rabbit Slim's
Review: What I find interesting about this film is the strong reaction so many people have to it. I mean people who have never even seen the movie have strong opinions about it. This movie was a major release in 1994 and got seven Oscar nominations, and looking back at it now, one has to wonder why Forrest Gump was named Best Picture over this amazing movie. This is not to bash Forrest- hell I like the movie, but if I had to have just one of them on a island I would take Pulp Fiction- and I suspect Tom Hanks would as well. The movie is great- full of wonderful dialogue and a terrific cast (Samuel Jackson not winning the Oscar in 1994 for Best Supporting Actor is one if the worst decisions by the Academy in the 1990's). This movie hums along with a terrific soundtrack. The movie consists of three different, yet related, stories set in Los Angeles and I won't cover the plot details here- you have either seen the movie and know it or you haven't, in which case I don't want to spoli it for you. Buy this movie. It gets better with each viewing and you pick up little details that may have been missed in the first viewing. The 2 DVD set is outstanding with great extras including a commentary, a making of featurette, and deleted scenes. This is all good stuff. The movie can also be watched with a enhanced trivia track that provides interesting tidbits on the bottom of the screen. I really liked that feature. Also, there are a number of reviews and articles about the movie reprinted on the DVD, including a real good one by Rober Ebert that breaks down the film in detailed fashion. The new edition of Pulp Fiction is a huge improvement over the previous DVD release. The sound is terrific as is the color print. AFI named it one of the 100 best films of the century and they were right. This is a fun ride and don't be put off by all the talk of gore. Plenty of films are more bloody and much of the violence in this film is implied. This is two hours of sitting on the edge of the seat waiting to find out what happens next. Sit back and let Jules, Vic, Pumpkin and Mr. Wolf take you on a roller coaster ride. This is one that belongs in any film lover's collection.

Review: I loved this movie the first time I saw it and still can watch it just about any time.

Summary: Pulp Fiction
Review: Like some of Taratino's films, this one is no exception to his "random acts" style of film (ex: how the film isn't straight through and how scenes are in different order like in RESERVOIR DOGS).

This one's got several scenes like that that seem a bit random but when the movie ends, and you put all of the scenes together you think nothing less than "WOW!". Honest to God, this is a great film and it's really funny as well. John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson are great together in this one. Along with an All-Star cast of Ving Rhames, Uma Thurman, Eric Stolts, Tarantino himself, Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth and Bruce Willis, you can't go wrong!

This is a definite pick up! There is a lot of swearing in this one and also some drug ise and it's violent too but other than that, a great film and easily out of all of Taratino's movie, PULP FICTION is one of his best! Also check out RESERVIOR DOGS, DUSK TILL DAWN and for a great laugh from Tarantino, check out FOUR ROOMS!

Summary: "...they speak english in what"!?
Review: Great film, great acting, and great directing. I just saw this film a little while ago and wow. This film is loaded with everything from great performances to great music. I liked the fact Tarantino infused real people into the story and showed conscequences for their actions. Drug abuse, murders, and everyday actions show conscequences. Everyone scrutinizes this movie because of so-called graphic violence and showing of drugs as cool. But in reality, the film shows how these things are bad. murders are shown offscreen and drugs are used only in the beginning of the movie. The film includes great dialogue though. i like the way the story moves along on dialogue, but it's not the boring stuff you hate. Just the stupied things the characters talk about is in a way interesting because you don't know who they are. I really like jackson and travolta's characters in the way they talk and interact,...they're slick and stylish. Great movies by Tarantino! check out all his films for sure.

Summary: Good movie
Review: I've enjoyed nearly all of Quetin's work. I love the way he write his charactor having philisophical conversations about silly things, like eating pork in this one, and tipping in res of dogs.

Review: I finally saw this movie for the first time last night and, wow. I've always heard so much hype about this movie like people getting offended, and people falling in love with it. It's just simply a love it or hate it type of film. There isn't that much action, but there's so much blood that it makes up for the lack of action. It would be very hard to determine the catergory of this movie...if you think about it, it's a dark comedy, but also a drama, and also an action, but also an epic...AHH. It's funny in a twisted way and uses what hit men talk about before they kill to stir up laughs. The soundtrack is explosive as almost all surf guitar. After watching it, I thought about how this movie had no plot. But I realized that it was 4 or so stories mashed together in one, sort of like Magnolia. This movie is not for the faint of heart, innocent blood spraying everywhere...most of it is presented comical. There is so much bad language and racial slurs that it just adds to the film's ruthlessness. The DVD is quite good, one of the best I've seen next to the fat four disc extended edition of the Lord Of The Rings. If you love the movie, get the Collector's Edition because it really is very cool. One of my favorite scenes is the whole thing with Butch going back to the apartment to get the watch and the incident that happnes there, and then more on the streets and the shop. So many memorable scenes in the movie, no wonder why it's on AFI's top 100 greatest movies ever made list. This movie's a real thinker with out-of-order scenes and hard situations. So if you are willing to let yourself get caught up in a profane, gory, disturbing, yet comical concauction of a movie, I suggest you see this now!

Summary: Pulp Fiction!
Review: 10 goddamn stars, Quentin Tarantino must be pure genius!
then for this DVD set, I must say that i'm dissapointed on the soundtrack... seriously now, 6 songs... was that the best they could do for collector's edition?
& another weird thing is that it's only 148 min when it says 164 on this site... well I got the region 2 Edition so it might differ a little.
Something that is annoying me too is that the way the disc's are attached to the dvd case, it's like you worry every time you're gonna remove the dvd's from it that you're gonna break the disc's. the extra material on the other hand is really neat, tarantino sure knows how to fill his dvd sets with extra stuff.
if you like this movie then I recommend True Romance!
that movie is so good that I even consider it to be better than Pulp Fiction... like I said, tarantino is pure genius!
