Summary: great entertainment
Review: It's silly but it's funny anyway. Steve Martin was very funny with his fake naviete as a gangster and getting into all kinds of trouble. There is the typical all-win Hollywood ending, but hey, it's a comedy! I recommend it for an evening of nonsense and laughs.

Summary: Do NOT Waste Your Time
Review: A woman in power who's got a major chip on her shoulder. A female law enforcer who's so blinded by love she gives her GUN to a criminal on trial and later has his baby while he's married to TWO other women. the same mafia goon is elected MAN OF THE YEAR. give me a break and please don't insult my intelligence! the thought that crossed my mind most frequently during the movie was: "did they expect me to laugh at that?" don't waste your time or your money.

Summary: Wow--so bad it's almost unwatchable!
Review: Few films get a one star from me. There is some humor, some cleverness, some wit, charm or insight that elevates it from dreadful to just bad. Not this turkey. It was one of those "What were they thinking?" films, where I wondered aloud repeately "How could they do that?" From the Father Guido Sarducci accent to the jokes that fall like eggless souffles, this film stinks.

And I never for a moment felt anything other than This Is A Movie. Suspend disbelief? I wish! I was suspended, into animation.

Summary: It's not tipping I believe in. It's over-tipping.
Review: Steve Martin and Rick Moranis are fall-on-the-floor-spit-out-your-dentures funny while they warp the buddy comedy idea. The script is full of wisdom that we can all use, teaching us not to wave our money around at ball parks, the proper method of bribing a latin band leader to play the Merengue so you can dance with some Long Island Lolitas, and the importance of having a shiny suit when undercover amongst the New York mob. This sucker is a top ten comedy.

Unfortunately, the DVD leaves much to be desired with the fullscreen format. The lack of extras is understandable due to the age of the film, but stealing a third of the screen from me is unforgivable. So the DVD gets a 3.

Summary: not my favorite...
Review: ...but it's a holiday present for my father who would enthusiastically declare this movie to be the greatest of all time. If slapstick is you thing this is the movie for you; slapstick is not my thing, therefore this movie is not for me.

Summary: one of Steve Martin's best
Review: I consider 'My Blue Heaven' and 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' to be Steve Martin's finest. It's fine comedy without any slapsticks.

However, the DVD version is rather disappointing. It is NOT widescreen, and there're no extras to speak of. The transfer quality is decent, but that's about the only thing makes the DVD better than VHS.

4.5 for the movie, 1.5 for the DVD, that makes it 3 overall.

Summary: Good Harmless Fun
Review: This movie is a very entertaining film. I never knew Rick Moranis and Steve Martin could dance Merengue. It is lighthearted, exceeds reality of the witness protection program when Martin (Antonelli) opens up a baseball park for the kids at the end of the movie - with his real name(not alias) on the stadium. But who cares. The humor is lighthearted, the plot is mushy, silly humor with two guys getting two girls in the end. The FBI agent gets the county prosecutor and the mob squealer gets the female cop. So what - it still rates good, harmless movie fun when you consider all the violence, sex and distorted realities in so many other movies out there today.

Summary: "Take my keys, take my gun, take me"
Review: I am not going to go in to details, of the movie "My Blue Heaven"; however the story line is about Vinni, (Martin), as a New York City gangster enrolled in the witness protection program. He is sent to a seemingly innocent town, Fryberg. A FBI agent (Rick Moranis) is assigned to look after him. The agent is a recent ex-husband due to his overly systematic behavior. While attempting to keep Vinni out of trouble the agent meets an interesting district attorney (Joan Cussak). She also is an ex with two kids. Vinni seizes the opportunity to help the agent and the attorney gets to know each other better and in the process helps Barney the agent loosen up a bit. On the side he seizes much more with the help of his (old) new friends. Will anything come of the agent/attorney relation ship? Will Vinni find a home or is he destined for incarceration?

See Steve Martin a little more down to earth in Housesitter (1992) ASIN: 6302579449.

Summary: Just plain frickin funny
Review: Do you remember the guy who danced with Bobby McFerrin and Robin Williams in the video "Don't Worry - Be Happy"? Well he's in this movie, and he's hilarious. This movie is not a classic and I don't remember it half the time I talk about my favorite comedies, but I always enjoy it when I see it. I think Steve Martin conviced everyone to put baloney in their shoes when they made this movie so they would "feel funny" - (one of his stand-up lines). Sit back, relax, enjoy - it's funny all the way through. Oh - Bill Irwin, that's the name of the guy, and he's a real clown.

Summary: A Wonderful Movie
Review: This is Steve Martin's best movie, Rick Moranis and Steve Martin make a great pair. The best mobster comedy ever made. Even though the picture quality, the sound and the features of the DVD are not vey good; this movie is definately worth the money! "Have a nice day."..."F**k you!"
