Summary: Had some flaws.
Review: This film wasn't that satisfying to me. I was honestly ready for it to end for quite some time before it did. Micky Blue Eyes didn't seem to know whether or not it wanted to be a comedy or if it wanted to be serious. The film was confusing, too coincidental, silly, and unbelievable. The cast was all decent in their roles though. Some people may get a kick out of Micky Blue Eyes, but to me it wasn't that captivating. There's a funny moment here and there, but that was rare. I managed to sit through the whole film; so it wasn't completely bad in other words, but it did have some flaws that I've already mentioned. Try something else. I actually give this 2.5 stars.

Summary: HILIARIOUS!
Review: This is a very endearing movie, great for a romantic night at home. Although it's typical "Hugh" - you will still enjoy the exchanges between the characters. Surprise ending. Great soundtrack.

Summary: Good comedy
Review: This is not a great film buts its good and will have you laughing. The film starts off great then about 3/4 though it takes a wrong turn and doesnt have a great ending but an ok ending. The whole cast is good but Jeanene Tripplehorn I can't belive people are still hiring her.

Summary: "Fuggeda abot it"
Review: This movie had a great idea: an uptight British auctioneer (Hugh Grant) has to deal with his fiancee's mob boss father (James Caan).

While it starts out well, it quickly stops being entertaining as it bombards the audience with unfunny, desperate jokes. Midway through the film, I stopped caring and just wanted it over.

There are few good jokes (the best one has Grant accidently blowing up his own shirt), and one is left wondering the question, what was the point?

Review: This movie is probably one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Hats off to Hugh Grant..

Summary: Pretty good, not great, but good.
Review: This movie, in a sophisticated Hugh Grant kind of way, sheds a comical light on what would happen if a Bitish gent like Hugh got caught up in the Mob for romantic reasons. The supporting cast holds its end up quite well in portraying the stereotypes most people have of hoodlums. A cultural differences between Brits, the Mafia and other comical elements of NYC make this an amusing movie to watch. The scene with Hugh being given intstructions on how to talk like a typical NYC Mafioso was particularly funny.

Review: This romantic comedy made me laugh out loud! It is well acted and has a lot of 'heart'. Some not-so-good language but minimal to what you usually hear in movies. It is also very romantic without sex scenes. Hugh Grant trying to do a Italian mob accent is hilarious!

Summary: IT'S SLIGHTLY BETTER THAN YOU'D THINK
Review: To tell you the truth, I wasn't really expecting too much from this movie, it IS a romantic comedy, but not expecting too much is the best way to not be dissapointed.

Hugh Grant plays an auctioneer who wants to marry his girlfriend played by Jeanne Tripplehorn. The only problem is she wants to protect him from her family, who happen to be mobsters, most notable James Caan.

Hugh Grant's clumsy, stuttering style serves him well here because he is faced with a number of uncomfortable situations. He and Caan do fine work in the movie although Caan's character becomes weaker towards the second half of the movie. Tripplehorn is ok, in a role that only required her to be ok.

The rest of the mobster cliches, I mean cast, are made up of people who at one time or another have been or will be on The Sopranos.

The movie does have some funny moments, like when Caan teaches Grant to talk like a wiseguy, although that wears thin soon. But in the end the movies uneven tone between lighthearted romantic comedy and some violence ultimately keep it from being too memorable

Summary: Very, very funny!
Review: What a hoot! My mum and I went to watch Blue Streak and found that it was not on and ended up watching this movie instead. We loved it. Hugh Grant was very funny - with his English accent trying to speak like an Itialian tough. We walked out of the movie trying to imitating his laugh and now 6 months later, we are still chuckling over it ocassionally. Definitely worth a second or third watch!

Summary: Hugh Grant Provides Lots of Light-hearted Fun !!!
Review: Whenever I find an unfavorable review for this film it really mystifies me. This is one of my favorite comedies!! Hugh Grant does his usual excellent job since this story serves as a PERFECT vehicle for his familiar cinematic personna. There are definitely some unforgettable scenes here...I'm talking about the botched up marriage proposal of course, and who can forget the part where James Caan has to teach Grant how to talk like a gangster?! There are soooo many laughs-- never a dull moment and a great bargain for such a fun movie! If you like Grant, this DVD is a must have! If you don't, then you cannot recognize a truly charismatic performer when you see one.
