Summary: Very Entertaining and Funny
Review: Analyze This is a very entertaining and humorous movie, starring the comical Billy Crystal, and the acting genius Robert De Niro. De Niro spoofs the mafia, and portrays a mobster don who, on the exterior appears to be a violent tough-guy, but on the interior is really a disturbed man who has turbulent emotions, including anger, sadness, and panic. It's hilarious seeing a mobster cry. One of the only faults was that sometimes they overdid the adult language (just a little, not that much though). But, besides that, the film is a wonderful laugh riot. Don't expect this to be as funny as De Niro's "Meet the Parents", but do expect an entertaining parody of the Italian mafia.

Summary: Okay. You'll Love It
Review: Which came first, "The Sopranos", the great HBO series hit, or this film about mobsters. It doesn't really matter, because this is a fun film to watch. Billy Crystal does an excellent job as a reluctant psychiatrist, alternately trying to evade and to help kingpin Mafia (there is no such thing) guy, Robert DeNiro. Of course Deniro is having panic attacks, which is his problem, and his mobster enemies and former friends chase him for fear of what he might "squeal" and Crystal frequently runs with him. Crystal's performance at the big mobster meeting representing DeNiro is priceless. Crystal's marriage ceremony to Lisa Kudrow is ruined several times in some hysterical scenes. Crystal's lines are delivered in his matchless timing and comic believability. De Niro does a great job, becoming a less than tough mobster. Lisa Kudrow looks pretty but a little out of place. Her lines are funny, similar to her part on the TV sitcom "Friends", but somehow she lacks the spontaneity, which makes her so funny on the TV show. Maybe each scene was concentrating on someone else, because she could have been funnier in the way she can put across a little nutty humor.

By the way, this is a "spoof" and any resemblance to characters and plots on the "Sopranos" might be intentional, but naturally the storyline is not serious. People do get killed, but "not in a bad way."

Review: Ok I get it, it was supposed to be funny. But in reality it wasn't. A mafia man who cries all the time? Then slaps people? Come on! This was so bad, I am still mad I rented this trash.

Summary: Comedic masterpiece
Review: When I saw the trailer for this movie I thought it was going to be a very weak movie. When I saw it for the first time in the movie theater my side's ached because I was laughing so hard. Everytime I see it it fascinates me, every scene, every sentance is amazing. The chemistry and timing for this film is perfect. OCD..obsessive compulsive disorder? no, organized crime division.

Summary: Great vehicle for DeNiro
Review: I say that because he gets to combine his best intimidating mafia stuff with his comedic talents ala meet the parents. Billy Crystal is very funny as the therapist who gets his life interupted by his chance run-in with the mob. The movie is very clever and funny most of the time. Some of the skits don't quite work as well as others but overall there is a lot of funny dialogue. Chaz Palmenteri and Lisa Kudrow are good in supporting roles and so is the guy who plays Jelly (sorry I can't recall his name). A must for any fan of either Deniro or Crystal. These guys are fun to watch together.

Summary: "Family " Therapy.....
Review: With the new release of "Analyze That" now in theatres, I thought I'd warm up with The "Analyze This" DVD(WB) and remind everyone what a treat this film is. First let's meet The Family....There's Paul Vitti(Robert Deniro), the take no prisoners, head mobster who finds himself loosing it to "panic attacks", getting soft on rival gang members, crying at sentimental commercials, and lacking in a few other departments as well. Next is Dr. Ben Sobel(Billy Crystal), the reluctant psychiatrist Vitti turns to, to help him through this crisis. Just try saying "No" to Vitti. Dr. Sobel finds his whole life and impending marriage to Laura(Lisa Kudrow) is disrupted by this hysterically dysfunctional "familia". The rest of "the family" Ben must deal with are "Jelly"(Joe Viterelli is perfect as this no-neck body guard), "Mo-Mo", Johnny "Bigs", Eddie "Cokes", "Tuna", "Potatoes" and Stevie "Beef". Who names their kids this things???

In this terrific take-off on his usual tough guy roles, Deniro must prepare for "the big 'meetin'" with the other heads of the families. Crystal is to help him become "well-adjusted" in time for this big event.Primo Sidone(Chazz Palminteri) is one of these "Heads of Families", and is trying to get rid of Vitti even before the meeting occurs. Therapy takes on new meaning for Dr. Sobel as he must (very comically of course) deal with guns, bullets flying, bodies flying out of windows, the FBI,being kidnapped, and swimming with the sharks.

The film was directed by the multi-talented Harold Ramis(Groundhog's Day), and the cast is "dead on" (excuse the pun).
Deniro is marvelous at spoofing his own characters, Crystal jokes his way with flawless timing through the entire film, and Palminteri plays it perfectly as the confused rival mobster. The soundtrack is wonderful with lots of Louie Prima and Tony Bennett numbers. Speaking of which, don't miss the end for a special performance.

If you haven't seen it, it's laugh out loud funny stuff, and not just the first time, you can watch it again and again and still laugh at the same gags. If you have seen it and already know you love it, you'll love the DVD. The film may be viewed in either the origianl Theatrical widescreen, or the Standard version. The picture is clear and sharp at all times, colors are wonderful, and the Dolby Dig 5.1 Surround is terrific. There are some great extras. A very funny "gag reel", lots of commentary(that you can have on during the movie if you choose to), filmographies, and a Theatrical Trailer.

Bye the way, even though I titled this "Family Therapy". This is not a movie for the whole family. There is quite a bit of language that would be inappropiate for younger viewers, and some sexual scenes as well.

Watch this one and.. bada bing bada boom... you ready for "Analyze That" Have fun with it........Laurie

Summary: Could be better, but a still a cool mob movie.
Review: This popular gangster comedy is good, but I'll admit, it could've been better. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the movie and couldn't find too many flaws, but I thought the movie should've been more involving for its excellent premise. I mean, put the one and only Robert DeNiro, Billy Crystal and Groundhog Day director Harold Ramis together and you should have brilliance. Analyze This at times just doesn't analyze itself too brilliantly. Still, I really liked the movie. The characters are fresh, intriguing and really original - especially DeNiro's - and are a delight to watch. Lisa Kudrow's character was an interesting one but I felt she was underused for her talent. Billy Crystal is an utter delight to watch. He has a cool, calm character and gives one of the best performances in the film. The movie is very original and the script is very well written. I appreciated Harold Ramis's effort, but a few more camera tricks or - I repeat - scenes with Lisa Kudrow could've improved the movie. Out of all this, however, I just couldn't go past the character of Jelly. I respected him the most out of all the characters in the movie and whenever he was on-screen; the movie was a delight. His character is one of the most involving ones in the movie and I just thought he was a really good man to take up screen space. Joe Viterelli plays him excellently. Well, through all this review I've mostly flawed Analyze This, but I really think it is worth your viewing time and it still worthy of a strong 4 or 3.5 stars out of 5. I highly recommend this movie if you want a film that blends comedy, drama and mostly importantly mayhem together in a really cool fasion.

DVD STUFF: 4/5. A good DVD. Very cool outtakes which will have you in chuckles, some great commentaries and nice production notes. I highly recommend The Sopranos Second Season and get this film' deal. Cool shtuff!

Summary: laugh till you drop dead
Review: Crystal and DeNiro shine when they work together, DeNiro has problems because hes a mob boss and Crystal is called in to try to handle the matter, but DeNiro wont stop bugging him. its hilarious with memberable parts. one highlight is when DeNiro calls up Palmenteri on the phone and then they argue and DeNiro says like " you make one more move on me you motha***cker and ill ***king cut off your **cking *alls, ill shove um up your **cking ass, i'll **cking bury you" it goes something like that and its , just great and my other highlighted moment is when Crystal goes to the mob bosses meeting and they ask him who he is and hes like " who I be, who be I" or something like that and then he goes into saying something about the movie where the alien pops out of the guys stomach and eats everyone on board, may they rest in peace. its worth it and Lisa Kudrow is great also as Crystal's wife

Summary: Analyze schmanalyze yawn
Review: Boring. De Niro replays his role of big mob guy, and is so convincing...except when he cries, then he cracks me up! De Niro doesn't seem sure whether he should play the crying scenes as comical or what. In the end, he plays them all lightly (and unconvincingly) until the "big" one when he tells the truth about how his father died. By that time, tho, it's like the boy who cried "wolf!" too often. This is such a crummy story, and the parts when De Niro is trying to "get in touch with himself" are neither funny nor interesting. Billy Crystal, about whom I've heard so much, plays the clever Jewish wimpish analyst, and never made me laugh even once. The funniest character was the analyst's son, Michael, and the funniest scene was when the surviving relatives of one of De Niro's "family" file out of the church after the funeral and greet De Niro and his shrink: they greet De Niro with traditional Italian hugs and kisses, and greet Crystal with nods or a handshake as De Niro identifies each one to Crystal, but the ones further down the line start to hug Crystal too, until the last one won't stop hugging and kissing him! The punchline: De Niro says "Never seen him before". The rest is just rehashed cliches from the mafia world. Do yourself a favour: skip this and watch the Godfather again instead.
