Summary: How can you NOT like this movie???
Review: Ive seen a LOT of movies in my day and I must say that this is by FAR the most hilarious. From the opening scene to the very end, its guaranteed to have your stomach hurting. I cant believe how much the critics bashed this, but like a lot of previous reviews, I think this is a matter of "colored" opinion. Everyone knows that white humor is different from black humor. I respect the fact that this script didnt refer to the cliched punchlines and the typical comedy tactics to showcase their talents. And who cares that the language was harsh? Its the same language utilized in their stand up routines that you all fell in love with, so why does it matter that the same formula was applied to a movie??? This is a DEFINITE must have!!! I was young when I saw this in the theaters, and since then, Ive seen this movie so much, I can almost recite the lines and I STILL laugh EVERY time I see it. If you dont own this, you are DEFINITELY missing out!!!

Summary: Great Movie...Entertaining & Very Funny
Review: This is a great comedy that places a whole cast of great actors and comedians in some ususual yet very entertaining roles. Much of the humor is situational and even occasionally on the subtle side but no less funny. If you're looking for simple slap-stick or physicial comedy or a movie with a bunch of stand-up comedy lines, you won't find much of that here. On the other hand, if you're looking good movie and can appreciate situational humor...you'll enjoy this one. BUY IT!!!

Summary: Great flick
Review: Redd Foxx steals every scene he's in, along with Della Reese. When black gangsters realize they can't compete with white gangsters in 1930's Harlem, there's just one thing to do. Leave, but kick'em in the balls first. The laughs keep coming and the one liners are unforgetable. Even Arsenio get's a spot and he makes the most of his scene.

Summary: Eddie Murphy's Vanity Project
Review: Eddie Murphy directed and stars (as the opening credits so blatantly announce) in this so-called comedy set in 1920's Harlem. This film is absolutely wretched, unfunny from the first frame. Despite all the talent involved (Murphy, Pryor, Reese, etc), "Harlem Nights" bombs and severely dissapoints. Thank God Murphy matured as a performer and moved on to better things. I'd give this baby a negative rating if I could, but "1" is as low as we can go, here. This is definitely Razzie material.

Review: Whoever thought this movie was a dissapointment is literally crazy. Either they like to hear dull jokes that have punchlines, or they have no emotional value at all. This cast is truly legendary. Every moment of this movie is hilarious. This is one of Eddie Murphy's best movies ever!!!

Summary: One of the Greatest Films Ever Made
Review: Harlem Nights is one of the best movies ever made. It's a great period piece from the "roaring 20's". It has a cast of some of the greatest comic geniuses from every generation. Redd Foxx is classically funny in his usual manner paired with Della Reese; their exchange of witty banter throughout the entire movie leaves you cracking a smile. Eddie Murphy is as smooth as ever in one of his funniest films. Richard Pryor uses his subtle class to hold this one together. I know some of the language can be a bit much to some people who are not used to it being used as humor. A lot of critics did not think that this movie lived up to the cast involved in it. I am not sure what they were thinking that it should be. It couldn't have been any funnier. It has class, style, great costumes, good dialogue...great charisma between the actor/actresses. I think that if the critics didnt try to be so politically correct all of the time...they might have enjoyed this movie for what it is. Just good old fashioned fun. P.S. I am glad to see this one come out on DVD on January 29; I have waited for years to have this one in my collection.

Review: This is a story of a nightclub owner (Sugar Ray) who takes in an orphan boy and raises him as his son..The boy Grows up and joins Sugar Ray in the Night Club business, his name is Quick..Quick is Quick with the gun , temper, ladies and the jokes..This movie is too funny..When the uptown gangsters decide that Sugar Rays is making too much money they want to put him out of business by any means neccasssary..But it won't be easy...There are comedians galore and famous faces all through this film..U will enjoy..
