Summary: HILARIOUS!!!
Review: No one should take offense to this movie; it's all in good humor. I rented it and IT WAS HYSTERICAL!! This is laugh-a-minute, laugh-out-loud, laughing riot kind of humor. Very kinky--not for little kids. But Steve Martin's reaction to Queen Latifah...his impression of a "wigger"...Eugene Levy's adoration of Charlene...the haughty heiress, the funny little boy, Charlene's antics, Peter's natural funniness (Steve Martin is brilliant in this, the dinner scene is the best), and Betty White's recognizable racist neighbor character all serve to make one very, very, very funny movie.

Summary: It had potential...
Review: Maybe 3 if you're feeling generous. It was way too nice and formulaic. Eugene Levy is funny as a goofy white guy who lusts after Queen Latifah. Latifah is good. Steve Martin is especially funny in the scene where he dresses like a gangsta rapper and goes to a club in Compton and talks like Snoop. However, If you've ever seen any "fish out of water" comedies, you will realize that the writers just worked the premise to death and really came up pretty short.

Summary: A Barrel of Laughs!!
Review: Bringing Down the House is one of the funniest movies this year. Queen Latifah plays Charlene, an escaped convict trying to clear her name. She traps Peter, played by Steve Martin into taking her case. She captures the heart of Howie, played by Eugene Levy.

This situational comedy explores racism and classism by juxtaposing stereotypes of black ghetto with white upper class. It also tells the story of how a family came back together with the help of a stranger. Charlene's unexpected presence catalyses changes for the better.

I enjoyed this movie very much. I watched it three times with friends and family. I was entertained each time.

Summary: Where's the punch line?
Review: The anticipation for this movie to end was unbearable! This is by far the worst movie I've seen this year. You're lead to believe that this movie is filled with a laugh a minute. Basically it's rude and isn't funny. Maybe a scene or two but I really expected more. Eugene Levy was the best character in the film. If you don't expect too much - this is the movie to get. Rent it if you think you have to see it, but my one star rating means don't waste your hard earned $$ on buying it.

Summary: Something To See
Review: This movie isn't as hilarious as it was made out to be, by far. But it does have its funny moments. In fact - a couple of scenes live up to the hype. But as for the entire film, it seems to be lacking something. Latifah is the best part of the movie, of course, but even she can't bring it up to what it was promised to be. Don't get me wrong - the movie is good - just not as good as we were lead to believe. I will say that Eugene Levy adds a nice touch to the movie, and his lines are memerable. For whatever reason - Latifah's fashion seems to stand out more than the movie itself. She sports some rather stunning outfits in the film. You will have some degree of fun with this one, though - even if it isn't the level of fun the critics promised.

Summary: Average film
Review: This was supposed to be a funny movie, and at times it is. The constant racist jokes though, are not funny. Maybe to some but I didn't find them funny at all. The movie stars Steve Martin, Eugene Levy and Queen Latifah. Queen Latifah plays an ex-con who didn't commit the crime who meets Steve Martin's character on the internet, and they meet up. She becomes the new nanny for his children. The plot is nothing new, it's more a popcorn movie than anything. There's a few laughs here and there, and it's no fault to the cast, but I didn't get all the hype around this movie.

Summary: Striving to be Funny
Review: Big stars, hip lines, action, romance, should add up to hit. This is not.

Disappointed.

Summary: disappointing
Review: I was really looking forward to seeing this film, as I love Queen Latifah and Steve Martin. Sad to say, this film was really bad. Latifah had a few shining moments (she simply radiates charisma), as did Eugene Levy, but most of the film was sullied by blatant racism. I was actually rather shocked at the racist "jokes," which were anything but funny.

Summary: Wretched anti-white "comedy" -- totally offensive
Review: Hollywood doesn't get it -- the "clueless white person gets taught some important life lessons by the wiser black person" is as offensive a stereotype to whites as Stepin' Fetchit' was to black audiences back in the thirties, and it only keeps coming. Take a look around television, movies, even commercials and you'll see how pervasive this cliched stereotype is in today's popular culture. And as for Queen Latifa -- she may be sitting at the Oscars, and she may be doing commercials with Faith Hill, but many of us remember when she was a rap star, rapping about killing cops and white people. People and critics have a short memory. Terrible film which documents the further decline of Steve Martin. Offensive.

Summary: one of steve martin's best
Review: this movie is so funny. It really is about a conservative lawyer
who by mistake makes a date with a woman released from jail.
Queen Latifah is excellent so is Joan Plowright,Betty White.
This movie has so many plots that each one is great. My favorite
part is when Steve Martin goes into a black night club in the
rough part of town. He plays some teenagers for their clothes
and goes in and tries to speak street language and does some
of his best physical comedy. Steve Martin is one of my favorite
actors and he only gets better. I loved this movie from beginning to end.
