Summary: It'll grow on you.
Review: The first time I watched it, I fell asleep through the middle. The dry nature of the dialogue and uninspiring cinematography didn't catch my attention for a mid-afternoon viewing (right around nap time). However, upon further viewings, I fell in love with the true brilliance of the subtle humor. I still don't like Rushmore, but really loved The Royal Tennenbaums, and in watching this movie, it's like watching the genesis of some great writers, a director, and actors.

Summary: setting off fireworks
Review: I am not a huge fan of movies, but this is one that clearly stands out. The story of 3 friends escaping the boredom of suburbia through crime and pretty much failing. Not exactly your standard hollywood garbage at all. Everything about this movie is great- from the soundtrack of Love and Rolling Stones songs to the hiding away at a mexican hotel. I think my favourite scene is when they are riding in their car, setting off fireworks and throwing them out the windows. Basically, if you are sick of the pathetic state of movies and want something different and inspiring, either rent or buy the excellent "bottle rocket".

Summary: Great Movie
Review: I caught this movie on TV by accident the first time I saw it, and thought it was so hilarious. I kept saying "What is this movie?!" I had never heard of it, but since I love the low-key humor of both the Owen boys, I was curious. It is fantastic; silly, off-beat and just fun to watch. Made me want to run out and buy yellow coveralls! It's just so quirky and clever that you never lose interest or stop laughing. Definitley along the same lines of movies like Rushmore and Royal Tennanbaums. Every joke is played straight-faced and so seriously that it just makes the characters even funnier; they don't have any clue how ridiculous it all is. The ending is great, too. Worth a watch!

Summary: Great, great movie.
Review: To be honest, the first time I saw this movie I didn't really understand it and I didn't really like it. But I decided to rent it again about a year later and I loved it so much. I missed so much the first time I saw it. since then it has become my favorite movie. So, if you don't like it at first, give it another chance because I bet it'll set off something inside you that'll make you really love it.

Great movie.

Summary: Dignon gets fired.
Review: One of those rare films that shines like a gem. Little known diddy launched huge careers for several talents involved. Great story filled with wonderful performances and a light, feel good vibe. Non-traditional filmaking with a bright perspective by Director Wes Anderson. Anderson co-penned this film (and others that followed) with Owen Wilson whose character Dignon steals the show. A great movie that can put you in a great mood.

Summary: Wry humor... not that entertaining
Review: This movie seems to be the labor of love for its stars and director. It is quirky and in some ways slick and humorous. The problem is, it is not very entertaining. The plot is mainly about 3 misfits who are borderline idiots who think they can become bigshots. Is this a "smart" version of "Dumb and Dumber" (or "The Simpsons")? Some dialogues are well-written, but the story somewhat rambles and ultimately does not leave an impression. All three main characters are fully established in the first 15 minutes, and there is nothing to sustain the rest of the movie.

Summary: A Must See!
Review: Bottle Rocket is the breakout film for writer/ director Wes Anderson, writer/ actor Owen Wilson, and actor Luke Wilson. It's an impressive beginning. Luke Wilson plays Anthony, a young twenty something who has recently checked himself out of a mental hospital where he was staying for "exhaustion". Upon departure he meets up with his buddy Dignan (Owen Wilson). Dignan shares his seventy-five year plan with Anthony, a plan that details a life of crime. Dignan wants more from life than he has. He wants fame, fortune, and especially to be in charge. He is the child that acts out in class to be recognized, it doesn't matter if it's positive recognition. The buddies team up with Bob (Robert Musgrave) the long suffering getaway driver who is only a part of the gang because no one else has a car. The three hit the road to rob their way to glory. But the title after all is Bottle Rocket, and eventually things explode.
This is a film about friendship that defies the common theories about generation x. It is smart, poignant, and makes its point. The talent behind it is subastanial, Owen Wilson and Wes Anderson are a team that will make history. Watching through their skewed vision the world is a lot simpler, a lot funnier, and a lot more real. This one is a must see.

Summary: Absolutely Hilarious
Review: There is nothing very serious about this movie. If you like quirky characters, random events, and rolling on the couch laughing, buy this movie and keep it forever. This is the complete antithesis of a conventional cookie cutter movie just like every other Wes Anderson production. Oh, and if you haven't noticed already, Bottle Rocket, like Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, and Zoolander, has the type of "in between the lines" humor that will make you wonder if Owen Wilson, Luke Wilson, Ben Stiller, and Wes Anderson get millions of dollars to make a movie where they can just act completely goofy and package it to YOU as a serious work. Very funny indeed.

Summary: A Great Begining
Review: Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson wrote and directed three of my favorite movies. I love their comedic prospective along with great plots. They pick the best actors the play characters. I had watched Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums before watching Bottle Rocket. It was just as good considering the amount of money they had for making the movie. If you are a fan of witty comedy watch this movie and then watch his other two films found on the Criterion Collection. There is so much to say about this movie. Rent it or buy it. Buying it may be a mistake. Bottle Rocket will get the special edition make over. It will be released containing the special feature found on his other two releases with Criterion Collection. Plan and simple its a must see.
