Review: Why is it that everything review on amzon is 5-stars...when I first discovered Amazon, I thought the concept of customer reviews was a great idea...but then after browsing through a lot of things I realized that the reviews are prettty much useless.....

Summary: It takes about 3 viewings to truly appreciate this movie.
Review: I live in Plano, just north of Dallas where this movie was filmed, and where the actors and the director grew up in real-life (we're all also the same age). I remember all the hooplah surrounding "Bottle Rocket" and it's theatrical release here ("Hometown Boys Make Good"), but I never felt compelled to see it. Well, I wasn't alone...it died at the box office...and it was MADE here! LOL Now, flash-forward 2 years for the premiere of their sophmore effort "Rushmore", which I DID go see in the theatre. Well, I was blown away by the talent that made "Rushmore". Only THEN was my interest sparked regarding "Bottle Rocket" and I went back and rented it (even the video store clerks here hardly knew about it). Well, I was truly amazed at their first theatrical movie effort! Wes Anderson's direction is extraordinary and naturally gifted (viewing it it's still hard to believe this was his first attempt at directing a film). And Luke and Owen Wilson (also first-time actors) just had that "movie-star" look and appeal...even back then....just looking at them you knew they were going to be famous. Plus, just like with "Rushmore", the photography, the writing, and music are simply fantastic (in fact I'm smiling at the memory of both movies as I write this). My only complaint about "Bottle Rocket" is that it moves too fast and is a little confusing in the beginning. It took me a few viewings before I "got it"...to see all the intricate details that went over my head the first time. But the movie has since held such an interest to me that I've had the opportunity to visit many of the actual locations and sites where this movie was filmed (hey, I live here!) like the old Taylors Bookstore near NorthPark Mall (the one they robbed) and St. Marks (Grace's school...and the Wilson bros actual prep school). I've also urged my friends and family to rent and watch it. Now they too are hooked! (I've heard them quoting dialogue...e.g. "Caw-caw, caw-caw"). So while "Bottle Rocket" may not truly be the flawless masterpiece many of the other reviews have made it out to be, it is still an amazingly good-spirited movie (for a crime movie) and is technically impressive in ANY regard considering it's a first feature for everyone involved. So not only will you NEED to see it several times before fully appreciating it, you'll WANT to see it again and again. :-) Anyway, I say "Bravo!", and await the third effort of team Anderson/Wilson/Wilson. :-)

Summary: Destined to be one of the most important comedies in years
Review: What can I say. I just read the fifteen other 5 star reviews. Bottle Rocket is amazing. These people know that and so should everyone else. Wes Anderson and Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie NIghts) are the most important directors of their generation. Watching Bottle Rocket u realize ur watching one of small group of truly orginal films that are dervative in no way shape or form. Owen Wilson as has been mentioned give a perforance equally original. Ask urself where have u seen a character even remotely similar. The film is packed wall to wall with lines and characters u ll find urself quoting every chance u get. WHy didnt this and rushmore find mainstream success. I suppose Anderson/Wilson are only for those of us appreciate subtle humor. Who knows mayb thats a bit of arrogance. But u know what i dont care. I reccomed this film to everyone, people need to see it. I have a feeling that Wes and the brothers wilson will someday be hailed as comic geniuses.

Review: This ain't no trip to Cleveland... On the run from Johnny Law...One of the most clever, ingenious, intelligent films I have ever seen! If you want your funnybone, tickled, SEE THIS MOVIE! I saw this movie when it was first released in the theaters about 3-4 years ago. I had never heard of it and decided to go because I had nothing else to do. I was so throughly thrilled and happy when the movie let out that I left the theater with a smile on my face.

Summary: The funniest movie I've ever seen!
Review: I've seen this movie 3 times within 2 years. The humor is so subtle that the more you watch it, the funnier it gets. I can't get enough of Dignon. He's the funniest character because he takes himself soooo seriously. I've never laughed at a movie as much as I did with this gem. Maybe, it's because I relate to the characters so much.
