Summary: For chevy chase....Not funny at all!!
Review: don't get me wrongg I like chevy Chase..but this movie didn't have one funny part in it. Compared to all of Chevy Chases movies...this has to be his least funniest comedy. This movie shouldn't even fit under comedy it was so boring. The movie is boring and stupid and there is no kool music throughout the whole movie. I don't understand how people would give this 5 stars, if u wanna see five star movies starring chevy Chase i suggest you buy movies like Vacation, or Funny Farm becuase this movie dosen't even come close to it.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: not great
Review: I don't give a damn about what other people say about it, but I don't think that Fletch was that good. It had some funny parts but not perfect whatsoever.

Summary: One of Chevy Chase's Best Films
Review: This is, in my opinion, one of the best films Chevy Chase has turned out. It's better than the Vacation series.

Based on the novel by the same name, Chase plays Irwin Fletcher, an investigative reporter writing under the pen name Jane Doe. He's investigating drug trafficking on a local beach using a wide variety of disguises. Chase's usual sarcastic humor shines brilliantly in this, the first of two Fletch films.

This film will make you laugh nearly nonstop for nearly the entire film, and I recommend it to everyone, except younger children as there are a few scenes with sexual overtones.

Summary: This is Comedy!
Review: This movie is so funny. A bit raunchy, but still it is funny. Gregory McDonald's lightweight mystery novel about an undercover newspaper reporter cracking a police drug ring is transformed by screenwriter Andrew Bergman (Blazing Saddles, and writer/director of The Freshman and Honeymoon in Vegas) into a fairly sarcastic and occasionally very funny Chevy Chase vehicle. Enjoyment of the film pivots on whether you find Chase's flippant, smart-ass brand of verbal humor funny, or merely egocentric. If you don't like Chase, there's really no one else worth watching (Geena Davis is sadly underused). Chase seems born to play I.M. "Fletch" Fletcher, a disillusioned investigative reporter whose cynicism and detached view on life mirrors the actor's understated approach to comedy. Fletcher offers Chase the opportunity to adopt numerous personas, and is aloud to fire off hilarious 1 liners that'll have you laughing for days. Fletch becomes involved in the film's smart and self-mocking two-part mystery. As well as trying to gather drug smuggling evidence against the LAPD for a long-overdue newspaper story, a rich and apparently terminally ill stranger also offers Fletch a large payoff to kill him. While the film does a GREAT job juggling both of these plots, it also manages to toss in a love interest as well. This is a great comedy, and you need to see this now!

Summary: Good Sarcastic Fun
Review: If you like Chevy Chase you will definitely like this movie. If you liked Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop you will probably like this movie. Chevy plays Irwin Fletcher an investigative reporter trying to get the scoop on how drugs are being distributed at the beach. He plays his sarcastic style to the hilt and the story is good enough to make it one of his better movies. It is more serious than the "Memoirs of an Invisible Man" that he did and yet still has plenty of humor. You get to see him expand his acting capabilities beyond his normal goofy Clark character in the Lampoon series. The supporting cast may not be outstanding but they and Chase are interesting enough to keep you tuned into the movie. I even like the running Fletch movie theme. Not as snappy as Axel F but still good.

Summary: Love that shape.
Review: Fletch must be the second most widely quoted movie, after Caddyshack. Chase plays a perfect Fletch in Andrew Bergman's adaptation of Greg McDonald's private dick novel. The screenplay does a decent job of cleaning up Fletch for the screen. The print character is a little seedier (smokes dope) and a little suaver with the ladies.

"Movie Fletch" plays up the undercover angle of the character to enhance Chase's strengths. Chevy has a great screen presence and can hold your attention in his many disguises. The excellent pace of the film leaves the viewer little time for distraction. How many times have you caught this on TV and only stopped watching because of a commercial break?

The Fletch books have recently been reprinted and are about as enjoyable and light as mystery/crime novels get. Pick an old one up .... Start with Fletch and move on from there if you dig it. The book character may not be as goofy as Chevy's but he still has plenty of charm and wit.

This DVD version could be a little cleaner and sharper. Not to mention the lack of "bonus material". Let's hope another version is coming down the pipe.
What kind of name is Poon anyway?

Summary: Great movie
Review: Great movie, every second of it. Its comedy and drama all in one with great acting by everyone in it. By the way, in the editorial review it says it is followed by 2 forgettable sequels, i know "Fletch Lives", but was there another?

Summary: Chevy Chase was his best here!!
Review: This is by far Chevy Chase's best movie aside from "Caddyshack" Chase was in his prime here as an investigative reporter who is hanging out at the Santa Monica beach, trying to get a scoop on the drug-traffic that is going on, hoping to get a story on the suppliers, he is approached by a business man(Tim Matheson) who thinks he is a beach bum, the man is Alan Stanwyck who tells Chase he is dying of cancer & wants to be killed so his wife can collect insurance, Chase's Fletch senses a scam & probes into Stanwyck's life to un-cover the truth, what follows is Chase's charm as he encounters people in Alan's priveleged life, by using an assortment of disguises, that is off the wall at times, Joe Don Baker lends support as a corrupt cop who is somehow involved with Stanwyck, feeling that Chase is a threat, he has him caught & later chased by the L.A.P.D. in a rather funny moment, soon Chase is off & running as he digs deeper to get the story, the running gags are fun to watch as he fends off not only the cops, but a Doberman, a whacked out maintenence guy, & an attorney for the ex, every conceiveable gag is here, as Chase discovers that the drug traffic is linked to Baker, & Alan's real intension, which suggest he is a biggot, one of Chase's better movies & likely one of his last, Dana Wheeler-Nicholson(Tombstone) is here as Alan's clueless wife that Chase takes a liking to, this is a fun movie that had a bad sequel, Highly Recommended, but skip the sequel at all cost!!!

Review: Cujo? Can I borrow your towel? My car was hit by a water buffalo. Classic Movle. Classic Lines. A Great movie based on an even better series of books. (If you've never read anything by Gregory MacDonald, shame, shame, shame!)
