Summary: Uniquely Clever and Funny
Review: This film wasn't really an anticipated film when it first came out from my perspective, but I got to like it. It combines a sense-of-humor with suspense. Bruce Willis ("Die Hard", "The Fifth Element", "The Jackal", "The Sixth Sense", "Mercury Rising", "Unbreakable", and the upcoming "Bandits") plays Jimmy "The Tulip" Todefski who is a vicious serial killer out on parole. Jimmy happens to move in right next door to a dentist (Matthew Perry, "Fools Rush In", TV's "Friends"). He is married to a French-Canadian woman (Rosanna Arquette) who wants him dead. Business brings these two together as guns are fired, romances steam up and people get killed. Jimmy's partner, (Michael Clarke Duncan, "Armageddon", "The Green Mile") co-stars along with Natasha Henstridge ("Species", "Species 2") who plays Jimmy's estranged wife and Kevin Pollak ("3000 Miles To Graceland") who plays an angry mob boss out to kill Jimmy. Amanda Peet ("Whipped", TV's "Jack and Jill") also co-stars as Perry's secretary and Jimmy's boyfriend. Everybody wants to kill everbody in this laugh-out-loud comedy. Jonathan Lynn cleverly puts everything together in a great film filled with laughs and twists. This is a great film because there are several twists and you never know when they're coming. It's suspenseful and funny. This is a comic gem that works Willis and Perry to their comedic best.

Summary: Wish I could give it 5...
Review: First of all, I have to say that Bruce Willis is my absolute favorite actor. I own just about every movie he's been in. But I don't think I will be buying this one! "The Whole Nine Yards" has a very strange plot. Basically, everyone wants to kill Matthew Perry, but he doesn't know it. Bruce Willis' and Matthew Perry's acting are great as usual, but for some reason this movie just doesn't "take-off" very well. The plot moved WAY too fast for me - one minute I had it figured out, the next minute it was changing again. I also did not care at all for Amanda Peet. While I think she is a good actress, her character in the movie is terrible! She is actually hired by Rosanna Arquette to pose as Matthew Perry's secretary so she will have a chance to kill him! And she has this sick infatuation with mob hitmen. Personally, I think that's a little on the weird side! There are funny moments - Perry's physical comedy being the best. Michael Clarke Duncan is good, too. In short, the acting is good, but the story goes nowhere.

Summary: A big disappointment!
Review: This movie was almost embarrassing to watch. Roseanne Arquette's phony French accent and unbelievable character was very annoying as well as the dental assistant that dreams of being a "hitman." I don't know what the director was thinking with the gruesome murder scenes that were fluffed over as comedy. It is never clear what exactly the undercover cop intended to do (actually kill the husband or not). Canadians should be insulted the way their police force was portrayed. Not one of Bruce Willis's better performances. This film almost had me wishing I was at Die Hard 4 instead.

Summary: A happy theme
Review: Finally, a movie that places contract killers in a positive light. So many movies show killers as being mean and nasty and never show the lighter side of these hit men. This movie shows that a person can kill 17 people and still be likeable. Anyone can benefit from having a hit man move in next to them. A good and funny movie for the whole family that shows that even killers can have morals.

Summary: What you talkin' about, Willis?
Review: I'll tell you what he's talking about - fun, Baby!

This is a very fun movie. Bruce Willis and Matty (I hear that's what his pals call him) Perry are great as the leads. Also, the women in the supporting roles are great. I especially liked Amanda Peet. Great actress and a total babe!

I even liked Kevin Pollock in this, and I'm normally not too crazy about him. Maybe his other roles just haven't given him the chance to show off his chops like this role did.

For a comedy, this one's really got a great plot. Check it out if you get a chance...

Summary: Pretty Funny
Review: This was an enjoyable little movie. I only just saw it recently when it was on tv and was actually pretty suprised. I had always seen it in the video store and with the recent release of the whole ten yards I figured I would give it a shot. Bruce Willis is really funny and needs more roles like this. This would kind of be your mediocre type movie because it isn't an incredible nor is it crap! The only sad part is throughout this movie you are thoroughly entertained but its one of those films that when its over you slowly forget about it and theres no reason why you should; if that doesn't make since, I apoligize, lol.

Other actors featured are Amanda Peet, Matthew Perry, Michael Clark Duncan, and Kevin Pollack. The plot is good and quite humourous as are the characters. I would say that everyone should see this movie at least once, it deserves that much. And always rent before you decide to buy! Enjoy.

Summary: 2 1/2 stars "Life's a comedy. It's all in the execution."
Review: The "Whole Nine Yards" is a mildly entertaining and passably enjoyable affair. It neither exults nor repels, neither makes one laugh uncontrollably nor cringe; it just is. There is nothing about this film that in any way distinguishes it from the sea of hit man/mob comedies floating around.

And let me say this, if it weren't for Bruce Willis and his wonderfully funny performance as the sensitive hit man, Jimmy `The Tulip' Tudeski, "The Whole Nine Yards" would've been a complete disaster. Willis, even through some of the weaker scenes, elevates the performances of his costars (Matthew Perry, Amanda Peet, Natasha Henstridge, and Rosaana Arquette) and the overall quality of the film with his powerful star presence.

Honestly, I expected more from this film. More laughs, to be precise. When you have a film and its whole premise is ridiculous to begin with and with each scene gets progressively goofier, one expects some serious humor. As things get sillier and sillier, the laughs slowly drift away until you are left stone-faced during the intended "hysterical moments" of the climax. A disappointment.

Summary: Better than the whole 10 yards
Review: I still think that the whole nine yards is funnier than the whole ten even though i liked it i still like the first one better. Amanda peet and natasha hendridge are hot.

Summary: Smart, funny, good entertainment.
Review: This movie has more twists and turns than a mountain road. The cast is great starting out with the marvelously talented Bruce Willis. Matthew Perry, Rosanna Arquette, Michael Clarke Duncan, Amanda Peet. The premis is perfect for this sort of dark comedy. The main character played wonderfully by Matthew Perry is funny, sharp witted and makes you get in the guys' corner right from the start. The man has more than a couple of reasons to suck carbon monoxide but he continues on in spite of being a dentist married to a shrew that wants him dead for monetary reasons, his new neighbor is a nororious hit man for the Chicago mob that has anger management problems, and his dental receptionist is secretly a beginner in the hit man game plotting his demise for his shrew wife. There, now the story is set except for the romantic interest the gorgeous Nastasha Henstridge who just happens to be the wife of Bruce Willis, Matthews' new neighbor. I tell you, what's not to like about this mix of dripping satire and ill born love at first sight. On the surface the movie seems like another one of the usual Hollywood "just for the money" movies, but, give it a chance and it will definitely grab your attention despite a short sequence of gratuitous T&A featuring Amanda Peet that really isn't needed. All told you have a witty, funny and very entertaining movie that you will want to enjoy again and again. What can I say about the comic genius of Bruce Willis, a man that can bring off the comedic punchline as well as chill you to the bone with characters like the Jackal. Matthew Perry is a very funny part of this movie with just enough slapstick and not too much to irritate. Sometimes the critics are looking for more than us average viewers are looking for and that is their job, but sometimes the critics forget that the word entertainment literally means to "not think". After a hard day at the office I love to be entertained with a good comedy even a dark comedy like this one. You can't go wrong if you get this one but you might want to restrict viewing by family members that are too young to watch, let alone appreciate this one.

Summary: Slow start...Fast Finish
Review: One of my coworkers bought this movie for my birthday. I have tried to watch it on several occasions, but could not bring myself to do it. Having received it as gift, I finally sat through the movie. I found I could not stand Mathew Perry. Once of the more annoying TV personalities there is in my opinion, but again, I digress.

During the first half hour (when you have to see why I can't stand Mathew Perry) they show you how pathetic the life of Perry's character is. This part of the movie I just wanted to hang myself, bored to the bone, w/no funny aspects.

To be honest w/you, the only funny parts are when they show you how much of a Sally, Perry's character is.

However, Willis' performance saves the day, once they involve him more in the plot and story line. Of course, all it takes is showing that Willis is the smarter, stronger, and more conniving character in the movie. Thankfully he (Willis), and Michael Clark Duncan, but on a show, and make this movie very likeable.

If they had hired anyone else to play Perry's role (someone like Ben Stiller or Matthew Broderick) then this movie would have been an A, or 4.5 stars. Nevertheless, just seeing him in the movie annoys me.

The movie is worth watching, but just ok as an overall movie. Definitely not a must have in your DVD collection.
