Summary: "A Perfect Martini, Very Dry"
Review: This satiric film produces a remarkable effect on an appreciative audience. While its tale in the abstract is patently of the darkest sort (the comic hero is a serial killer), the film successfully presents his doings - the successful bumping off of member after member of the same snobbish family - as light-hearted, even exhilarating work. As the witty murderer, Dennis Price is the prince of elegance, while as every one of the generally absurd family members the youthful Alec Guiness has the role of his career.
The clever acting of the cast and the unerring tone of dry absurdity keep the film from ever losing its balance. In short, it is a triumph.

Summary: Whoever wrote the script for this was a genius
Review: When a young man realises that his inheritance is hindered by several relatives, he decides to set about removing them to claim his rightful home and title. However, he never loses his ancestral good manners. The black comedy in this is perfectly written with just the right tone that can't be enunciated in a review. The line "I shot an arrow in the air, it came to earth in Berkley Square" is unforgettable. Incredibly funny without the need for gags, this is a classic which shouldn't be missed, whatever your taste.

Summary: Film of the Century
Review: With the new year, it may now be stated without fear of possible contradiction that Kind Hearts and Coronets is by far THE best film of the past 100 years, and likely will stand so in perpetuity. If you haven't seen it yet, I envy you as I wish I could step back from 100+ viewings to see it afresh for the first 10 times...and it is only after you have enjoyed it perhaps 10 times do you see it for what it is, the comic masterpiece. Watch it today and then again tomorrow and the next day.
