Summary: A GREAT MOVIE BUT AVOID THE CHEAPER VERSION
Review: No question that THE WORLD OF HENRY ORIENT is a truly delightful comedy with a very fine script and a first class cast. I highly recommend it. However not the less expensive edition. It is poorly transfered at low speed with dull colors. If you really love this movie spend the extra money for the other available full priced release that is at full speed and superb quality.

Summary: Not really what I was looking for....
Review: The main reason I watched this movie was because Peter Sellers was starring in it. Mainly because his other movies have been really funny and eclectic in style and music from that era. I knew there was going to be a different kind of a twist with the two girls sharing the lead role, but this movie was really about the two girls entirely, that were sickly imaginative and mischievous. After watching half way through this movie, I started to notice myself getting real bored and becomming more interested with the lint on my carpet instead of the movie. The only positive comment i can give about this movie was that the scenery shots they had in the film were really cool because it made you experience the city life in NYC in the early 70's, which was definitley interesting for me. Other than that, I really did not enjoy this flick. If you are looking for really good Peter Seller rarities, I recommend watching "the party" and "the Bobo". Those were really entertaining to watch.

Summary: Uh????
Review: The movie starts out like some kind of "Heavenly Creatures," with two girls taking interest in each other and living out their girly fantasies. They then run around crazy-like, jumping over little boys and fire hydrants. The director must've really liked this effect, because he shows it in slow-motion with this weird music in the background. I didn't get that part at all.

One of the reasons I was watching this was that I heard Peter Sellers was in it. Well, he is, but not really. It's more about these girls who are always talking about girly things. The movie made me uncomftorable, knowing a guy director made this movie. Was he like obsessed with filming girls talking about their life or something?

You know, I can't say this review is fair because I turned the film off half-way through. It's like, when you see something that's already going nowhere and you have no interest in it, you really don't want to waste your time on the rest of it. I mean, I had already wasted one hour of my life; didn't want to waste that last one. No oh oh ohhhhhh. Didn't wanna waste that last one. No oh oh ohhhh. Thank you very much.

Summary: Saw this as a young girl and loved it.
Review: The movie was made in a time when people still belived in hero's. The movie to me was what a lot of us were going through and that was idolizing movie stars etc. An unrealistic first love situation. The pains of being 13.

Summary: Where's the Sound?
Review: The sound on this DVD is terribly muffled. Had to turn the volume way up, but that only helps somewhat because it's still so unclear. Then some of the brighter tones of the music come through fullblast and you have to turn the volume down again. There's no excuse for this. The movie sounds and looks great when it airs on Turner Classic Movies, and I expected the DVD to be as good if not an improvement, but this DVD issue is a real disappointement.

Summary: Sellers is at his best
Review: This is a quirky comedy that might not appeal to everyone, however If you grew up in Manhattan in the 60s you'll love this movie. Sellers is at his very best, along with Paula Prentiss in a very funny supporting role.

Summary: A great movie, one of Peter Seller's best
Review: This is classic Peter Sellers, a little known movie that you never see in the video rental stores. Truly one of his best performances doing what he does best, Inspector Clouseau without the French accent. Paula Prentice is wonderful as the love interest and the two young teenagers give great performances following Sellers and driving him crazy. A must for your Peter Sellers video collection.

Summary: A little-seen gem
Review: This is not one of Peter Sellers' most famous films, but I consider it one of his best. It is incredibly funny, charming, and a perfect film about youth and life in New York in the early 1960's.

Sellers plays Henry Orient, an avant-garde pianist and master Lothario, who becomes the idol of two adolescent girls, Val Boyd, played by Tippy Walker, and Marian 'Gil' Gilbert, played by Merrie Spaeth. These girls are perfectly cast in their roles, and have wonderful chemistry. Val is the daughter of wealthy Park Avenue parents, portrayed by Tom Bosley and Angela Lansbury. Gil is from a broken home, and lives with her mother. The girls meet at school, then attend a concert by the flamboyant Mr. Orient. From there, they begin stalking him, although stalking was not in vogue in 1964. They become his ardent admirers, believing what magazines write about him, and hanging around outside his Park Avenue apartment, dressed in Chinese hats.

Henry Orient, of course, is a no-talent, no-good playboy, who is having an affair with the married and somewhat reluctant Stella Dunworthy, well played by Paula Prentiss. It seems that Henry Orient spends most of his days sleeping, talking on his futuristic phone, and chasing women.

It is all an innocent pursuit for the girls, whose friendship is really the center of the film. This is very well portrayed, and backed with gorgeous New York scenery. The trust of the girls is severely tested, and we see the change from wide-eyed innocence, to devastating disappointment.

Angela Lansbury plays a completely despicable society hound, showing her great range as the actress new generations recognize as the sweet Jessica Fletcher. Peter Sellers, as always, moves into his character completely, and switches from sauve to clueless in a matter of minutes.

This is a wonderful film, very entertaining, and based on a book of the same name. It is not dated, it is fresh and funny and I think all ages will enjoy it.

Summary: Funny, touching, and warm.
Review: This is one of my all-time favorite films! Peter Sellers plays an arrogant, no-talent pianist in NYC, who attracts the attention of two teenage girls, making him the focus of their secret 'club d'amour'. Perfect casting! Sellers and both the girls are great! Angela Lansbury plays the truly unlikable bitchy mother of 'Val', and Tom Bosley is convincing and likable as the cuckold husband. A very nice film full of the innocence, happiness, and heartbreak of adolescence. The Elmer Bernstein score is perfect!
