Rating: Summary: Great movie I loved it! Review: This is one movie I can watch everyday, it's that good. The star studded cast, the cameos, and the time when it took place the early 60's, helps bring back memories of when life was much easier. Every time I watch this movie I always try, and succeed in noticing something different. That to me is what a good movie can do.
Rating: Summary: The Funniest Movie in the World Review: When we brought this movie home from the video store for the first time years ago, my dad told me it would be the funniest movie I had ever seen. And he was right! It's just packed full of good, clean, halarious comedy! It's also packed full of top-notch comediens: Spencer Tracy, Buddy Hackett, Micky Rooney, Phil Silvers, Milton Burle, Ethel Merman, and Jonathan Winters. This is one of my favorites! I highly recommend this hysterical and delightful film!
Rating: Summary: Ok...but not great Review: I thought the movie was ok. The plot was at times hard to follow and the characters a little distorted. There were quite a few funny moments but not enough to make the movie great. The mother in law was so annoying i wanted to throw the remote at the VCR. I think it was a way too long, confusing movie with a shaky plot. I can see how some may find it "extremely funny" though.
Rating: Summary: The Best Comedy Ever Made! Review: I saw this movie on a UHF channel when I was a child. I have loved it ever since and was thrilled to find it on video. It is truly a timeless masterpiece. Good clean fun!!
Rating: Summary: A love sonnet to the California desert... oh, and it's funny Review: Ever want to know what things looked like back in 1962 ? This movie is not only funny but it stands as a montage of the scenic deserts in Southern California at that time. Okay, so I also happen to live there, But Stanley Kramer has filmed some of the best images I have ever seen of this area. You should see this movie in the wide screen format. I saw the film in the theater as a child and have seen it several other times since on tape. You can get a Critique of this movie anywhere, it's an old story and everyone knows it by now. A cast of thousands in a screwball comedy. But for me, I was mostly taken by the sights. I recommend it totally, even if you're only in the mood for a good Travel film.
Rating: Summary: Great cast, great fun! Review: One my Top 10 comedy favorites. Humor and slapstick might be lost on today's moviegoers but the cast is a Who's Who of the great comedians. This is a family film with lots of action and zero language.
Rating: Summary: The funniest 3 hours ever!!! Review: This movie is very funny it will always make me break down and laugh really hard no matter how many times I've seen it. I own this movie and even though that it is not so popular now, I try to show my friends and relatives this best comendy
Rating: Summary: Comedy Impossible to Reproduce Review: If you really want to have fun with your 10 year old, sit him down and roll It's A Mad, Mad ,Mad, Mad World. My kid has seen this gem 3 times, and asked to watch it with me again this past weekend. Simply, this is the kind of star-filled extravaganza impossible to duplicate today -- where every player received union scale, and just plain had fun making a laugh riot of a movie. From Jimmy Durante "kicking the bucket", to cameos by Jack Benny, Jerry Lewis, and The Three Stooges (just to name a few), this is simple and irresistable comedy at its best. It now seems impossible, but once upon a time, comedy could be made without any profanity or pandering to bigotry. This is how it once was done, and done perfectly!
Rating: Summary: Its a mad mad mad mad ride Review: The version I have is 2 videos with nearly a 15 minutes overture, plus a wonderfully animated title sequence. The letterbox format gives the video a quality that man VHS releases lose. The story is simple. 4 people chasing after hidden treasure, soon turns into a small army. Lots of pain insues. Its just plain fun to watch
Rating: Summary: It's a Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad DVD Review: I would give this DVD 5 stars if all the movie was here, but it isn't, hence 3 stars. There's no excuse for this considering that no major restoration has been attempted here, the storage capabilities of DVDs are huge, and MGM has already released the full-length movie on VHS. The deleted scene feature is a mess. Watching the scenes seperately is tedious and not much fun. The least they could do would be to put the deleted scenes in the order that they appeared in the original film. The third and fourth scenes appear to be exactly the same as do others later on. Sometimes the scene appears the same only zoomed in. Others scenes have no sound. Some of the last scenes go on and on up to 10 minutes and contains everything that is included in the feature except for very minor snippets of dialogue. Sometimes you can't detect anything new, like in the money dividing proposal scene. I can see why MGM would want to keep their pristine 35mm print whole and transfer that to DVD but perhaps they should have included a 2nd disc and a 2nd version that patched together all the missing scenes, no matter what condition, and reconstructed the film as best as they could to the longest originally released version. MGM, when you finally "Special Edition" this movie offer a rebate with the proof of purchase from this inferior edition!
