Rating: Summary: OK Review: Surprisingly good. I thought it would be boring, but although in some stretches it was slow, the comedy is pretty good. Did I mention that Woody Allen is awesome!
Rating: Summary: Put it in context-- Review: You have to appreciate the movie for what it is, not what we all think it's supposed to be--yes, there is an actual CASINO ROYALE that Fleming wrote, but this has really nothing to do with it- first off, it's a ruthless parody on everything 007. Secondly, it's a piece of sixties art that just happens to be on film. The actors are first rate, even if the flow (and the content) is weird at times. So don't worry about going from point A to B, just sit back and take in the ride.
Rating: Summary: Incredible Film! Review: My favorite movie of all time! If you have never seen it, make every effort to catch it! If you love a good comedy...this one is for you. Mike Myers must have been a fan... Great acting, great directing, and a crazy story! Fans are waiting for the DVD!
Rating: Summary: weird woody strikes again Review: good movie, very weird jokes, great acting, David Diven, Woody Allen, Peter Sellers, buy it.
Rating: Summary: I WANT A DVD C ROYALLE Review: I LOVE 007. I started out as a wee child reading Ian Fleming. YES almost the only simularities between this film and the book is the title. But WHO CARES ? It is 60's hip styleish and very funny in spots. The cast is to die for. EVERYONE is in this. The theme song is the kind of music that makes you crank it up and drive at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The look of Love will make you play mouth trumpet and want a round bed. I am lucky enough to have this on VHS but I would be first in line for a DVD. But why does Terence Cooper get the main acting credit ? He was a fairly minor actor. My cat could have done as good a job as 007.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: This film is not meant to be a serious Bond-film,so do not compare it with the official ones. The plot is a mess.It is filled with gigantig holes that you could drive an Aston Martin through.Niven should have played an official Bond,he is terrific,as is Peter Sellers and Ursula Andress.Best of all is probably Orson Welles as villainous Le Chiffre. His card-battle with Tremble is one real high-point in Bond-history,most because of it`s style.Le Chiffre is sadly killed off all to early.Woody Allen is also great, although he personally loathes the film. The film has eight writers(only three credited)and five directors,so it is all very unlogic but, heck, really funny. One of the worst films ever made, still somehow a masterpiece!
Rating: Summary: Great Review: Brilliant movie David Niven was great. It is only a spoof but is brilliant.
Rating: Summary: Find your own opinion! Review: If you are a serious Bond-fan,you are supposed to hate this film,as you are supposed to love Goldfinger.Well,I am definitley a serious Bond-fan,and I love this film.Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: If Only It Were Edited Better! Review: This spoof of the James Bond films is a classic case of the parts being MUCH better than the whole. It had four? six? directors? And it looks it. Some of the material is astoundingly bad. But where it works, it's brilliant, stylish and quite funny. I'd trim off about 30-40 minutes of the groaners, cheap shots and filler. Some of the sequences, though, apart from occasional lapses into disconcerting yuk-yuk (and yecch) jokes, are really wonderful. The opening sequences in Sir James' mansion tucked away (in Wales? The Lake District? Dartmoor?), the Scottish sequence in McTarry's castle, where the beautiful Deborah Kerr shows a flair for comedy, the sequence with Peter Sellers and Ursula Andress (to "The Look of Love"), the memorable sequence in the Berlin spy school, with sets so expressionistic, they look straight out of "The cabinet of Dr. Caligari", the wonderful sequences at the headquarters of Smersh and its leader, Dr Noah, who turns out to be Bond's nephew, played by Woody Allen. He tries to impress Daliah Lavi with a pill that turns a person into a walking atomic bomb. When she tricks him into swallowing it, he yells, hilariously, "Ooooooh-- Alka Seltzer!" One also has to mention the delightful music by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass and the delightful opening and closing credits. Watch the movie-- just not all at one sitting!
Rating: Summary: This Is A Comic Epic Review: As funny as it might be, and the music is everlasting, I do believe that it will be the time capsule for the 60's. Made during the fall of the great studio systems, it showed what could be possible, if the Great Talents have their way. If you really think about it appears to be a collection of Portfolios for all the prinicpals in the movie.
