Summary: It can't get better, it just simply can't!
Review: "Some like it hot" is the funniest film of all-time, and the american film institute did a good job at recognizing it, both in their top 100 movies, and funniest film. Tough I think it is worth more than the fourteenth position in the list of the best american films of all-time, it still ranks high, so I won,t say a thing. Billy Wilder is something else. And this comedy is not only funny, but it is overstuffed with great inventions, and ideas. The movie follows a line through it all, always respecting it, so that everything that happened in it is there for a reason. The Dialogue is quick and clever. Though it is famous that it took hours to Monroe to have a good take, it was worthwile, and never was she more credible, or sensual. Behind all this sexuality, you know she is a great actress, worth looking at. Everything coming out of her mouth seems fresh and new, and as if she means it. but hte fun doesn't stop there. For the moment, the film starts, everything keeps getting better and better, and more fun as we go along. It is a mesmorizing piece proving that true comedies, and brilliant ones can be made.

Summary: My favorite movie of all time
Review: With its pseudo-homoerotic undercurrents, I sometimes wonder how this film got past the 50's-era censors. No matter. Writer-director Billy Wilder, and leads Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, and Marilyn Monroe dazzle with their comic genius.

You can watch this movie over and over and it always seems fresh. Perhaps it's the realization that Monroe and her alter ego Sugar Kane are far more intelligent than they first appear. Seeing gold-digger-with-a-cause Sugar and faux oil magnate Joe (Curtis) manipulating each other is a hoot. Or perhaps it's Jerry's (Lemmon) gender crisis when he realizes that being a woman, even in a man's world, does have some perks to go along with the headaches.

In any case, the fun lies in seeing three tangles of lies and deceit growing ever bigger and out of control, like a comic Gordian knot, only to be cut at the last second with what's perhaps the funniest yet most anti-climactic punchline in film history. Between the sight gags, the slapstick, and the witty banter, you can't help but feel good watching this movie. There's really nothing bad to say about it; even the draggy parts are far more entertaining than what passes for comedy in most movies.

Summary: Complaint
Review: This is not a review for Some Like it Hot and, as such, I do not intend what is written here to be posted. A message must be sent to whomever reads these reviews and decides which are posted, which meet the requirements, and this seemed the best and easiest vehicle with which to do it.

Several days ago I wrote a review of Some Like it Hot that not only commented on the film but also described the circumstances under which it was viewed - a plane I was on showed the film during an awful storm as an attempt to calm the passengers, and the plane crashed into a runway eventually, and I could not see the end of the film due to the catastrophe. The review was not posted. Of course, the event described in my review is absurd and obviously fictious, and is not terribly relevant to the merit of the film, but, as youths are inclined to say when their parents give them specific reasons why they should be denied something they desire, so what? Is it so unethical or bad for business to make a review a bit more fun, more lively? To break the monotony of "Jack Lemmon was great" and "There were many memorable scenes" and "I LOVED this movie"? If I include a story with my review, as long as there are comments made on the film, and the story is not too long or does not dominate the review too much, it should be posted. For goodness sakes, you post reviews that read like this:

This movie was very good. I really like it. The performances were great. I recommend it.

instead of my creative ones. I understand that you are a business, and can thus do whatever you want, but why not have some fun as well, be a bit more liberal. I think it will benefit you in the end. E-mail me with a response if you like or just post my "Some Like it Hot" review if you still have it or my future reviews. Thank you.

Summary: Great cast!
Review: "Some like it Hot", is a classic. It is humorous, romantic, and action filled. It is a delightful movie that I have seen atleast five times.

Some like it Hot", has a wonderful cast. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis play friends that get themselves into trouble with some mobsters. To escape this trouble they decide to join a band of musical ladies. One of which is the lovely Marilyn Monroe. She has a little drinking problem, but she is as sweet as her name Sugar. Curtis falls in love with her, so he decides to trap her with a lie.

"Some Like it Hot", will satisfy anybody. It is just terrific. It is also on the top ten list of Great Classics. I reccomend this film to anyone with taste.

Summary: The perfect comedy
Review: I'm not sure if this is the "funniest film of all time," as AFI has ranked it, but it's up there with the greatest. Everyone in this film is wonderful (including the direction by the master, Billy Wilder), but especially wonderful is the poignant yet hilarious performance by Marilyn Monroe. She's able to provoke laughs while simultaneously evoking sympathy as a woman who's pretty much being deceived and taken advantage of. A lot of people just see her as an icon of sexuality, but she was also a brilliant comedic actress who deserves more credit than she ever received in her lifetime. Oh yeah, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis? Hysterically funny, maybe the best drag performances ever. Very highly recommended.

Summary: What TRUE comedy is!
Review: Some Like It Hot is an absolutely hilarious film! This is what real comedy is, not all of these sick, twisted freak films of the 90s and now 00s.

Some Like It Hot is very intelligent! The characters are very comedic and are wonderfully portrayed! Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis play women perfectly! (Not to jeopardize their "manliness...") But they are wonderful!

I must say that the ending is perfect! The closing line is absolutely hilarious! "We can't get married..." then later... "I'm a man!" "Well, nobody's perfect!" Awesome!

Some Like It Hot is a smart and extremely funny movie! Like they said...the funniest movie ever made! Too True! Enjoy!

Summary: Billy Wilder's Overlooked Masterpiece!
Review: Billy Wilder delivers another comedy delight. Set in mob-run Chicago of 1929, Marilyn Monroe is teamed with Tony Curtis and Jack Lemon (both in drag!) as part of an "all girls Jazz band". Curtis and Lemon are on the run from gangsters, both falling for 'the perfect partner'; Curtis for Monroe and Lemon for an old millionaire who digs Lemons 'other persona'. -- This film is wonderful escapism, an overlooked classic that is finally recognized for what it is: The masterpiece of one of Hollywood's great directors!

Summary: A very funny film
Review: "Bosom Buddies" long before the television show ever existed. That's what this film reminds me of.

The acting by Lemmon and Curtis, in drag,is both funny and fantastic. Monroe shines. I especially enjoyed Curtis' impression and accent of a rich man trying to woo Monroe.

This is a fun film you'll be content to watch over and over and over again.
