Rating: Summary: Good Cast, BAD Script! Review: I'm really not sure why this movie is getting such a god rating on here, because its the perfect example of how you can have a pretty terrific cast, a decent plot, and the script totally lets the film down! Peter O'Tool should be embarrassed to be in a film with a script this terrible! The movie is really pretty silly, the villian is a Disney-esque bad guy, it's filled with contrived, souless moments, and never quite gives us any real feeling for who and what these characters are. A good example are moments like: Alicia Silverstone leaving when the old bandmate returns and shows himself to be a complete ass. (These guys were all in a band together all that time and had no idea? Or he changed that suddenly?) But the main silly point is, she's riding in the car on her way to, (I guess) the airport, and before the ride is over, the old band-guy has acted like such an ass, they call her on the cell phone to ask her to come back. We don't hear the conversation, but it must have gone something like this: "Come back" because she just listens for 2 seconds and goes "Yeah, OK" And then when the driver says "A one-eighty?" she gets a huge grin on her face and goes all dreamy-happy, even though these guys, (including a guy she has come to care about) had just rejected her a few hours before. There are countless moments like this in this unfortunately. It's called lack of plot development. A bad script that needed fleshing out. A LOT more fleshing out. Silverstone is cute, and I have to confess it was my main reason for watching this. But don't look for a big sex-factor with this either. Sometimes, when a movie fails on quality film-making, it can at least offer something in the way of a sexiness factor.. Unfortunately, it fails there as well. There are some mild attempts at romance, but none of the relationships undergo any real development... Very BAD Disney script here. I'm not putting Disney down, there are some good movies made by Disney, but if this had been one of Disney's, it wouldn't have been one of them... I sat through this on a Showtime viewing, cause it was in high-definition and since there is such a slim offering of stuf in high-def at times, I watched it... right to the end in fact. I wouldn't call it a waste of time, but not the best way to spend it either... If you wanna see this, rent it, or watch it when it comes on cable. You'll never watch it again... trust me!
Rating: Summary: Neither about Rock, nor about Alicia Review: If you're interested in this movie because of Rock'n'Roll or Alicia Silverstone...forget about it, it's just a marketing trick, even the photos on the DVD-Cover aren't from the movie. The Big face is from a press-pic of "Excess Baggage" and the guitar-player,i don't know about. Anyways the movie really is just about an old couple that serves a band in their own house to get some money. They are very proud so they pretend to be butlers and hide the fact, that they are royal and it's their house the band stays in...poor movie, poor dvd...
Rating: Summary: very enjoyable Review: it's a feel good movie, and it's a good one. it's bursting with life and one can tell that the entire cast had fun making the movie. peter o'tool and joan plowright were great, adding just the right touch and the whole band was excelent, excelent. very believable. the plot got a little questionable toward the end but on the whole it was great. i have watched this movie, again and agian and again. the music was excelent, extremely good, surprisingly good and i was very sad, sad, to find no sound track, anywhere, for this movie.
Rating: Summary: Forget the DVD where's the CD?! Review: Not a terribly interesting movie unless you're really bored, the real reason to sit throught this is for the music. Why oh why isn't there a soundtrack? Casino is brilliant! I don't care very much for the movie and yet I've sat throught it four times just to hear this band. Do they have any cds?

Rating: Summary: Guaranteed to raise a smile. Review: Take a sweet (if somewhat predictable) plot; add great actors and a beautiful set; stir in some rockin' sounds; sprinkle librally with broad comedy, drugs and the F word; and you have this thoroughly enjoyable late-night movie. It's not exactly X-rated, but it's not for those who are easily offended by "language." Perfect for old hippies and all broad-minded folks who enjoy seeing people go from bad to good.
Rating: Summary: worth it Review: Thanks to some try-dtv-package, I stumbled upon this movie on showtime. No, it is no threat to "Lawrence of Arabia", but it is great fun. If you're down in the dumps, you won't be by the end. I think its great charm lies in the fact everyone seems to be enjoying themselves BIGTIME (you know that before you get to the hysterical outtakes during the final credits). I liked the small touches of dressing up in "disguise" and going to a country dance or watching tadpoles in the lake.
The cast, from experienced to newer are endearing. Peter O'Toole and Joan Plowright are very good sports, easing minor wince-enducing moments with grace and I admit grinning ear to ear at seeing them shake it on the dance floor.
What really surprised me was the music. I may not be an expert rock n'roll critic - but they was good. The songs stick in your mind and as another reviewer mentioned, written and performed by a band called "casino" (formerly northstar). Really too bad they released no soundtrack.
I really don't care if it puts my good taste into question. I liked this movie. It was sweet.
Rating: Summary: humour that covers more than one base Review: The plot of 'Global Heresy' spans one week, when a young, American rock-band-on-the-rise spends a weeks seclusion in the country mansion of Lord and Lady Foxly in England, who have leased out their home to stave off bankruptcy and must pose as butler and housemaid for the week, to proud to admit their position to anyone.I found this film a more than pleasant surprise - I'm not sure what my expectations were, but this was definitely a comedy worth seeing. Peter O'Toole and Joan Plowright are perfect as the pompous, 'old school' Lord Foxly and his broader-minded, long suffering Lady. They bring a mature, intelligent and extremely dry 'englishness' to the comedy of their situation, which will appease fans of 'keep everything to a minimum to gain the greatest effect' British comedy. These characters are perfectly offset by the group of talented and exuberant young actors who play the band members of Global Heresy. Brash, talented, diverse and very, very American, the band members are also dealing with in-band conflicts whilst trying to keep a united front against sleazy record company-execs, and their own abilities to stand up under the spotlight of constant public scrutiny. Martin Clunes (from Men Behaving Badly) is a wonderful bridge between the two brands of humour represented so far, as the devious hospitality-man whose given the job of watching over the band for a week, and is a definite gem of the film. Plotwise, 'Global Heresy' may not be particularly groundbreaking, but the various layers of conflict (between Charles and Diana Foxly, between the Foxly's and the Global Heresy members, between the band members themselves and between Global Heresy and their record company stooge) are played out with presiscion and humour, with many moments of genuine insight by the actors well articulated by clever direction which keeps the action and character-development moving. Add to this a surprisingly good soundtrack - made up of original music from Northstar and Casino - and you end up with a well crafted comedy with light dramatic moments, which is well worth taking a second look at.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT MOVIE Review: This movie explores the relationship between the Lord and Lady of the manor, the band that comes to stay in their house and how all became better people because of their week together. Choose to be happy, choose to live in the world, and choose the higher path. It's a great movie should see and enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Boaring Review: This movie is worse than an olsen twin swimsuit issue, way worse. The music is bad and that is the best part of the movie. All the band members are fagatoniez and should not have made it past lifetime.
