Summary: "So cunning you could brush your teeth with it."
Review: This DVD package is a must have for fans of the various "Black Adder" series. The set includes not only series I-IV, but "Blackadder - The Cavalier Years" and "Blackadder's Christmas Carol." The additional features providing historical information about the various periods and the actors starring in them is a bit thin but a nice bonus. Fans of the scathing wit of "Fawlty Towers" and the absurdity of "Monty Python" will find much to enjoy here.

Summary: Very Complete
Review: When this set was initially announced, I was a bit disappointed to see that it apparently included the four seasons of the show, plus _Back & Forth_ and that's it. However, on actually receiving the set in the mail today, I find that the "Special Features", which on so many DVDs are just padding, include "The Cavalier Years" excerpt from "Comic Relief" and "Blackadder's Christmas Carol". So, some very special special features here - finding "Blackadder's Christmas Carol" on the 3rd disc made my day and the extras make a great DVD set into an, uh, even greater DVD set.

Summary: They weren't lying when they said it was complete
Review: I pre-ordered this DVD set before it was officially available, the price being too good to pass up, even though I wasn't sure if it would include the specials that have come and gone throughout the years.

I am extremely pleased to report that this is indeed the complete Black Adder, containing the four classic series, the special from the Millennium Dome (Black Adder Back and Forth) and its behind-the-scenes counterpart, AND "Blackadder's Christmas Carol," AND "Blackadder in the Cavalier Years." The latter two are buried in "Special Features" on two of the discs, but are there nonetheless. Oh happy day!

I need not elaborate on what makes Black Adder worth owning, as other customer reviews have done that amply. Pick it up and you'll never have to shell out any more cash for Black Adder episodes on DVD (until such time as they get the cast back together for something else). Hooray!

Summary: Best DVD set I have ever owned!
Review: This set is great and I do not use these words often. There is nothing left to want in this package, It includes every special outside the series (The Cavalier Years, Blackadder's Christmas Carol) and the film, Back and Forth. And yet there is more!

The "Play in Order" function on the menu should be used for all dvd series to come, because as it says it plays the contents of the DVD in order, no having to go to the main menu to start the next episode.

What else can I say...I love this Blackadder set and should a fire break out that Baldrick "accidently" set I will grab this DVD set as I flee the house!

Summary: Yay!
Review: I'm thrilled to now own this collection on DVD. I've worn out the videos at this point. My absolute favorite Britcom series (at least Blackadders 2-4). I was also very happy to find that the BlackAdder Christmas Carol was included in this set. They never stop being funny, no matter how many times I watch.

Summary: A "Must Own" for fans of witty, British comedy
Review: I am not going to ramble on about this series, suffice to say that it remains one of the finest written comedy's of our time, and a tribute to the sheer brilliance of Elton and Curtis. It is not for all tastes, it is dark, witty comedy and those who crave only the contemporary, such as Friends or Frasier should leave well alone, but for those who enjoy absolute quality and classic comedy, this is the ultimate collection to own. If in doubt - buy it anyway, you won't regret it!

Summary: Black Adder
Review: Although I found the Regency episodes to be somewhat slow, overall the series is simply hilarious to anyone who has a sense of history. Besides finding this immensely entertaining on a personal level, I've used episodes with my World History classes--after we've covered a historical time period--and they've howled with laughter. They especially loved the Black Adder Marches Forth set of episodes, set in World War I's Western Front. Anyway, if you've got a sense of history and a sense of humor, you WILL LOVE THIS SERIES!

Summary: BUY THIS NOW!
Review: "I'm as happy as a Frenchman who's just invented a pair of self-removing trousers" - This has to be the ultimate in DVD collections from the BBC archives. Blackadder is arguably the funniest comedy series of the 80's/90's. The DVD promises to be something special, and you lucky lucky people in the USA get your grubby mitts on it before we do in the UK! Is there no justice in this world!?! Thank the Lord for multiregion DVD players!

Summary: Black Adder - Complete Set
Review: I bought this set over a year ago (so I dont understand how the release date can be July 2001).

I love it!! From the earliest escapades to the shows that never made it to the TV, this is a MUST for any Adderphile!

BTW, I got it for 89.90 at the local Tower Records back in May of 2000.

Kudos! WOobs

Summary: Hilarious - rivals Fawlty Towers
Review: MUCH funnier than Mr. Bean, this series rivals Fawlty Towers in my mind for the funniest thing to come out of Britain.

If you liked Fawlty Towers or Monty Python then you'll love The Black Adder.

It follows the life of a man and his descendants through several periods of British history, starting in the Dark Ages and ending with WWI.

Rowan Atkinson plays the lead in each time period. It is simply one of the funniest things I've ever seen and almost impossible to describe. You have to see it for yourself.

If the DVD transfer is of good quality (I haven't seen it) then I'd pay twice the price for it.
