Summary: Looks as good as new
Review: If you haven't exprerience Kubrick you're missing on a substantial proportion of the world's most remarkable films

Summary: Beyond words. You must viddy it yourself.
Review: After watching Clockwork Orange again, I still consider that it is, along with Dr. Strangelove, Stanley Kubrick's best work. The reason is that both films had a very strong message. Not saying that Kubrick's other works had no point. But the messages at the center of these films were pretty clear: Dr. Strangelove showed that waging Nuclear War would cause the destruction of mankind. Clockwork Orange debated about crime and how it should be dealt with. It also debated about politics, volunteer police and about society's future. Finally, it showed that all of our actions have consequences, both good and bad.

It was the way this bleak, cruel future was depicted that made Clockwork Orange controversial and debatable even today. Raping of women, gang wars, and beatings are done to happy, cheerful, classical music. Also, some of the films Alex is showed when he undergoes the Ludovico Treatment, such as footage of Nazi rallies and World War II, is played to parts of Beethoven's 9th symphony. Clockwork Orange also has the same sense of black comedy Dr. Strangelove has. I could not help myself from chuckling during the gang war between Alex's Droogs and another gang of droogs as it plays to another classic music theme.

I for one still believe that ACO is Kubrick's best, even despite the violence, nudity, rape and the controversy. Besides if it still is shocking, disgusting and stirs up controversy today, that means Mr. Kubrick did his job. I thanked him after I saw the movie. I know that, up there, he was listening.

My Dad on the other hand, who I watched the movie with to change his opinion about a film that he saw 3 decades ago, stated he never wanted to see it again for the rest of his life and that it was against his better judgment to let me watch it. He summed up his basic opinion in one sentence: "It's a pile of crap".

Summary: Classical music set to sheer destuction. Briliant!
Review: Over the years "...Orange" has changed upon my intial viewing I was horrifed at the images of rape and uniformity and I still am! But recently my nephew Ronald and I sat down and watched it together he is a 16 year old male and for some reason he was unfased by he images so i ran out and brought the novel for him to read since it may spark a more clearer image of horror in his imagination but alas he laughed the thre film and the novel and that made me watch the film again and realize the true genuis behind it. Kubrick used classical music the music of beauty and intellect to propell a barbaric act of violence but violence isn't barbaric at all it is what keeps the world moving and is the driving force behind human nature. My nephew is of a different time then myself the visuals of blood and guns is nothing new but if you truly want to see th real life telling of A Clockwork Orange just turn on the tv and view how we set modern day music to the most barbaric emtions of all self loathing for the act love. Kubrick may have known that as the years past that humans would revert human nature to a point where the public wishes to throw away our origins of being human!

Summary: Stanley Kubrick's dead!
Review: "is free will more important than being good?" this movie asks. "No" I replyed, "if criminals have their freedom, then good people will lose their freedom."

Summary: A clockwork orange is the best!!!
Review: This is the best movie in the world to watch while you are stoned. Everything makes since, and you can laugh for hours. All the stuff in the movie made since, and it was stuff that I think about, but never could express. Im glad someone made and directed this movie.

Summary: A pure masterpiece
Review: This is Kubrick at his best, which he always is (except for Eyes Wide Shut, and the only excuse I can think of for that one is that he was old and senile). A Clockwork Orange is brilliant, eye-opening, symbolic, provocative, and an all-around great film. I believe that there are two possible reactions to this film: either you love it or you hate it. There is nothing in between.

I happen to love it. It is, in my opinion, the sixth best film of all time (incidentally, two of the films ahead of it are ones from Kubrick). Unlike my parents and sister, I saw what the film's message was, and saw that, while intense, the violence was needed to convey that message. Obviously, for that osrt of story to work we had to see how terrible Alex was so that we could see that even the worse thug's free will must be preserved. I agree with this entirely.

As a final note, I just read a 2-line panning of this film before writing this. While you are entitled to your opinion, I would like to ask all those writing reviews to learn to read and write first so your spiel is legible. Thanks.

Summary: Stanley Kubrick Will Always Be A Legend
Review: I am a 13 year old. I first saw this movie when I was 12. And all I did after watching it was rewind it and push play again. No, I didn't rewind it because of my "raging hormones", I rewound it because I wanted to see what I believed was the greatest movie of all time. I wish Stanley Kubrick were alive to read how many loyal fans he has. I have since watched all of Kubrick's films and think they are all great, but none come as close as "A Clockwork Orange". It is bizarre, but that's what I love about it. I just thought it was a great movie.

Summary: I am with the reviewer who is only here to honor it
Review: This is and has been; for about 15 years, my favorite movie of all time. I am 28 now. This movie is a work of art comparable with the best artists throughout history. I don't feel the need to say anymore either and feel whatever I say will not do it justice anyhow.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Nothing more to say about the masterpiece
Review: We know how pefect the movie is, so I am only here to honor it.

Summary: The movie is just awful....dreadful...dated....bad....
Review: I like movies. I've watched a lot of bad movies. I've even liked a lot of bad movies (I loved Ishtar), but after years of hearing what a "classic" Clockwork Orange is I finally got around to seeing it last month (3/2001). And OH MY GOSH it was bad.

Not bad it a fun, provocative, campy, entertaining way. But bad in a way that makes you question your need for a VCR in the first place. The story was non-existent, the editing was frantic and distracting, the violence was pointless (which some will say WAS the point) and it made no sense.

The story of alienation, ennui, post-war angst has been told in so many better movies since CO came out that I guess I might be missing the "ground breaking" aspects of this film, but I have to say that this movie has not held up well over the year.

If you have two hours to waste just saw your arm off with a rusty butter knife. It will be less painful than watching Clockwork Orange.
