Review: When my English teacher said we were going to watch Much Ado About Nothing, my only experience with Shakespeare had been his tragedies, thus making me not want to see it. I left the room and didn't watch it. When a friend of mine suggested we watch it, I had the same feelings but decided to watch it just because there wasn't much else to do. Boy was I wrong about it. It is the best movie I have ever seen. It shows Shakespeare's love of wit and humor. All in all, this is an awesome movie and a must see for those, like me, who thought that Shakespeare is a drag.

Summary: Wonderful movie
Review: Style and wit of Branagh and Thompson. The cast is great, though Keanu comes up a little short but not too bad. Leonard Maltin must get a map and see that Messina is in Sicily, not Tuscany. The soundtrack is the best part along with the scenery. I hope Branagh tackles more of the Bard in the future and reconciles with Emma.

Review: Despite the flaws, which many have pointed out - no need to repeat here - this is perhaps the finest and funniest rendition of Shakespeare on film. I recommend this film to anyone who has trouble getting Shakespeare. It's absolutely delightful!

Summary: BRANAGH IS BRILLIANT!!!
Review: Branagh is absolutely brilliant. After watching Much Ado About Nothing, I could not believe that anyone could take a work of Shakespeare and infuse it with so much life and vitality! I have watched the movie tens of times and I laugh harder and longer everytime I see it. Michael Keaton is hilarious as the ignorant sherriff, and Thompson(Beatrice) and Branagh(Benedick) are even funnier. I almost hated to see them get together. Denzel - what can I say? I have heard great reviews about all the actors and actresses; however, Keanu Reeves seems to get slam dunked in nearly every one. Though he certainly is not the hottest man around, his seemingly mechanical and irritating style is perfect for the role of the evil brother. This role was tailored for him - EVERYONE loves to hate him. That is exactly the response that Branagh wanted his audience to have!! If you have never read any of Shakespeare's works, see one of Branagh's films. The language is spoken so beautifully and effortlessly, that you won't hate Shakespearan language ever again.

Summary: The ENTIRE ensemble hits the mark!
Review: Before renting this, I had misgivings about seeing Denzel Washington make the giant leap from starring in 1992's Malcom X to playing a prince in a Shakespearean comedy. I now regret that I waited so long to rent this. Washington stages one of the many great performances of this film. Sure, this is an unusual mix of actors. Still, this ensemble succeeds; there isn't a dull scene in Kenneth Branagh's production of "Much Ado About Nothing." And don't listen to the overly-sophisticated critics who single out Keanu Reeves as the film's weakness. They're just afraid to give him his just due. Playing the perfect villain, Reeves adds a nice touch to this cast's all-star perfromance.

Summary: A Very Enjoyable Film, But Shakespeare Purists Beware
Review: No question about it, its a great film directed with an immense amount of energy and wit. Patrick Doyle's music is always appropriate and occasionally reaches the orgasmic crescendos appropriate to the story line. Yes, Keanu is in over his head, but so is Michael Keaton (he just gets to chew the scenery some more). However, this adaptation is a far, far cry from Shakespeare's original language. They've also cleaned up some of the more unsavory aspects of the characters to keep it all light and sunny (e.g. Shakespeare's disparaging comments about Jews). But for what it is, its a very accomplished and enjoyable piece of film making. Can't say enough about that score; get the CD too.

Summary: Wonderfully witty, beautiful movie
Review: Kenneth Branagh and Emma thompson are wonderful as the feuding lovers Beatrice and Benedict! The location is breathtaking, and almost the entire film has a light, sunny feel to it. The only weak point in th emovie is Keanu Reeves, who is out-acted by the paneling. But thankfully his role is small, so it can be eclipsed by the rest of the movie.
