Summary: Great cast but weak plot!
Review: I watched this movie because with a cast like that this movie was bound to be good, but i was disappointed. It was a little entertaining(only because of Jack Nicholson)But as the movie progressed it got very weak!I am not going to watch this movie again unless paid or forced!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: A wasted effort
Review: It's always a disappointment when a movie with fantastic stars turns out to be a waste of your time. This is one such movie. It's about three love-lost women (Cher, Pfeiffer and Sarandon) who, bored with small town life, shack up with The Devil (Nicholson) who offers them a world of sex, magic and enjoyment. However, things soon begin to start spiralling out of control, and by that I mean the movie as well as the three girls' situation.

It's not that the acting is bad. Far from it, each member of the cast is perfect, especially Sarandon in an unusually sexy role. The problem is that the movie can't balance its menacing elements with its funnier ones. Much of this problem lies with Nicholson, who constantly is forced to move from scary to fun-loving. Whilst the four leads are floating above a swimming pool or playing a magical game of tennis it skips along quite nicely. However, this is all blown away with a ridiculously over-the-top finale which seems to waste all the movie's money on some very silly special effects.

Still, Susan Sarandon in a funny role is a treat to behold.

Summary: Let's hear it for the devil
Review: Jack nicholson does a near perfect job as the Devil. His wit, eyebrows and demonic laugher are perfect for the part. In the beginning of this movie there are some refreshingly different views of the devil, but in the middle and latter stages the old fundalmentalist views begin a gradual take over (hence only a 4 star rating). The ladies of the film all turn in fine performances and this is perhaps one of Cher's best jobs. The end of the flick gives hope for a happy future. Too bad they never made a follow-up film. If you like symbolism and absurdity, along with Nicholson's unique presence I highly recommend you give it view.

Summary: Best Witches Ever
Review: The movie is worth 3 or 4 stars. However, when the DVD is shipped in paper thin cardboard (that cannot even be fastened closed) so that the customer must go buy a plastic DVD box to protect the DVD from damage, the rating of the DVD goes down. A real exception to the usual high quality of Amazon.com products. If Amazon.com cannot insist on consistency from their suppliers, perhaps the "Product Details" can warn the customer that they are getting a DVD without a useable package.

Summary: Jack Nicholsons best movie....................
Review: The music score is the best Ive heard..even better than the first Starwars score. This movie was made for Jack Nicholson-nobody else could have done it. Without Jack, Sarandon and Michelle it wouldnt have been as good as it is.

Summary: whimsical comedy
Review: THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK is a whimsical "what if?" story centering on three lonely New England women. Starring the triple-threat trio of Michelle Pfeiffer, Cher and Susan Sarandon, and based on the bestseller by John Updike, the film is an enjoyable little adventure.

When your average "horny little devil" - Daryl van Horne (Jack Nicholson) - moves to the sleepy town of Eastwick, it is no accident. He has come to fulfill the sexual and emotional needs of three best friends: Jane, a struggling musician (Susan Sarandon); Sukie, a single mother (Michelle Pfeiffer); and Alex (Cher), a talented sculptor.

At first, the situation seems idyllic, and then things turn sour. Eastwick's self-proclaimed morality pariah Felicia (Veronica Cartwright - THE BIRDS, SCARY MOVIE 2) slides into fits of paranoia, induced by Daryl's dastardly deeds. When Jane, Alex and Sukie all become pregnant, they decide to get their own back on Daryl...by turning his powers against him.

A rather slow-moving start is more than compensated by the film's fast-paced, special effects-laden finale. John Williams' quirky score suits the mood of the film perfectly.

The DVD includes both widescreen and fullscreen versions of the film as well as production notes and the trailer. (Double-sided, single-layer disc).
