Rating: Summary: See it and love it!!! Review: One of the best movies around, funny and some violence. Pretty clever plot too...
Rating: Summary: It was clever and alive, deceptively subversive Review: At first I was a little put off by the violence, and skeptical that John Cusack could convincingly play a hit man. But if you look at this film as an exaggerated illustration of the insecurities and fears people have about high school and reunions, the violence is incidental, and the movie is quite funny and clever. And Cusack pulled it off as the hitman. As for the soundtrack, it's good but it only has a few genuine mid-80s classics (Why Guns 'N Roses?!).
Rating: Summary: This movie, was,to say the least remarkable. Review: I loved this movie, and there are probably only two movies i like saving private ryan and this one.The high school fight seen was great and i thought it was hilarious that they played i cansee clearly now when cusack snipered the cyclist at the beggining i loved the music so i bought the album, BOTH cds.I would recommend this movie to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Best of the best, a must see! Review: I have never laughed so hard as when I watched this movie! The scene when he returns to the office and his secretary (Joan Cusack) uses the intercom from 10 feet away...great stuff! Watch this movie several times, because you will always pick up little nuances you missed the last time. Notice how the music in his car carries over to the music playing in the convenience store, but in elevator style! Suttle touches that make this movie great! And what a great romantic pair Driver and Cusack make..bestow my heart!
Rating: Summary: Brilliant! Review: This movie is brilliant, to say the least. A social satire stuffed with hilarious, funny-mooded gags and atmosphere, utterly absurd scenes and dialogues that make you want to include the entire script in a "best quotes"-collection. Martin the hitman lying on his psychiatrist's couch, wondering what to tell his normal, settled-down former fellow-students at the high school reunion. "I mean, what am I going to say? I killed the president of Paraguay with a *fork* - how have you been?"
Rating: Summary: The best film of the nineties Review: Someone explain how "Titanic" got eleven Oscars in the same year "Grosse Pointe Blank" came out? There's something seriously wrong with anyone who doesn't love this movie to bits. It has comedy, action, romance, and everything is first-rate. Buy this, then buy the soundtrack, and then write a review like this giving it 5 stars. It worked for me.
Rating: Summary: AGREED WITH EVERYTHING SAID ABOUT THIS FILM, BUT.... Review: I would like to say that I agree with everything (good) all the other reviewers have said about this film, but...Not enough has been said about the contributions by Dan Ackroyd and Alan Arkin. Personally, I think these are two of America's most underated comic actors. Perhaps, in Ackroyd's case, this is due to some bad career choices ('Spies Like Us' etc), but nevertheless he has great screen presence. Arkin, on the other hand, seems to have been a little more careful. And let's not forget he was the star of 'Catch-22'. So - Cusack (all of them in this film)and Minnie Driver may be the stars, but Ackroyd and Arkin both bring something special to this film. I hope rumours of a Martin Q. Blank follow-up are true.
Rating: Summary: BEST FIGHT SCENE Review: LOVE this movie. The best part was the fight scene at the high school reunion. I love john cussak and his sister who was also in the movie
Rating: Summary: The most amazing film of my life Review: Using a pseudo Hamlet plot we explore the pyche of an assassin who, through rediscovering his love for life, loses the taste for killing. Excellent film, not a line or shot it wasted, everything has meaning.
Rating: Summary: PERFECT Review: If there was a movie (becides "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and the "Evil Dead" flicks) that kept me from getting bored during some part of it, it would have to be this one. The script and actors made for a very entertaining movie. Cusak and his co-writers made it possible. Also adding Benny "The Jet" was awsome. Never thought that I would see John Cusak in a fight seen with a Jackie Chan great such as Benny "The Jet". Anyway, I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants a fresh new idea.
