Summary: Drugs, Vegas, can't get any better than that
Review: Art at it's finest. Pure genius

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: c'mon quick like a bunny and see this.
Review: I know this movie has caught all sorts of grief for being so bad, but you know what, it's not. I believe that Johnny Depp should have got a Oscar nomination for his performance. You really need to watch this movie a few times to catch all of the things that are said and all the references that are made. It is simply a look at two guys view of what the American Dream is, and I can't knock it, in fact I want to take a trip (pun very much intended) to where they went to.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Drugs, weapons, hitchhikers. What more could you ask for?
Review: I do really think this movie is somewhat, oh how can I say, interesting. I have never done drugs in my life, and after watching this movie, I don't think I ever will. It was just hilarious watching these two drug induced losers get stoned out of their minds and make complete asses of themsleves, cause afterall, we all make asses out of ourselves at least once in our lifetime, right? It's just nice to see other people do it for once. Why do I give this movie five stars? Cause I simply think it takes ba11s to make a movie about nothing, and in the process making it funny. If you don't agree, "I'll find where you live and burn your house down, you piece of sh*t!"

Summary: Absolutely brilliant translation of the book
Review: I didn't expect too much when I saw this film, convinced that there was just no way that the insane headlong rush of the book could or would be properly rendered on-screen, but I was wrong - this is a truly accurate and amazing adaptation of the book. If you hate the movie then you hate the book - sure the movie makes no sense, but nor does the book and why does it have to? I enjoyed the madness of the book for its own sake and the same applies to the film. The weird, swooping, rapidly changing camera angles are extremely well done accurately capturing the descriptions in Hunter S's book. The hotel decor in which the good doctor found himself enmeshed was truly scary. Well done to those that made this incredible movie possible, you have once again proven how brilliant you really are.

Summary: absolute historical accuracy
Review: i read the book after first release, and after the rolling stone had printed portions.never thought that anyone would make a film about this book, as the content was so extreme. As those of us who lived through the johnson/nixon era and lost friends to the political fever that engulfed our "world"...the good doctor showed us that someone was watching and was quite willing to raise the "freak flag" and tell who ever would listen that the american dream was dead...garroted by it's own fervor.

But i regress...read the book...see the film...question authority at every opportunity. one of the best interpretations of journalism i have seen or experienced.

johnny depp WAS the doctor.... great acting...inspired directing...a severely twisted period in our history.....bravo! bravo!

Summary: Let's trash another hotel room...
Review: OK - so I understand that Hunter S. had these wild, drug-induced experiences and then experienced amazing moments of clarity which he was able to write about most eloquently. But other than that, so what? This film was so redundant - the overkill of the hotel trashing and partying literally made me nauseous.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Psychedelic and drug crazed, very true.
Review: While not filmed for the conservative members of our culture, the movie, touches a humor that only those who have experienced the madness of a "drug bindge" could understand. The movie does not "promote drugs" as many would like to say, what it does is show them from a different perspective. Glamourized or not, this is one of the coolest films I've ever seen.

Summary: With shame and humility, I must confess..........
Review: .....I've only seen this film three times. It's great. The book's message survives in the movie : Thompson gnashed his teeth, reared back his bald head, and took a wet, ripping bite out of the Sixties. He then proceeded to hold it like a wad of coca leaves, mixing it with his own bitter saliva. He wiped the dripping blood of Altamont, Vietnam, Kent, and the drug-soaked dead from his chin, wiping it sardonically across the stoned faces of thousands of sticker-licking, powder-snorting, smack-shooting hippies. I think that he must have hated the taste. It was nauseatingly sweet, so he promptly spat it out, spattering the half-chewed mess across the pages of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." Of course, he himself is a sticker-licking, powder-snorting, smack-shooting journalist, but he offers no rationalization or false justification for his actions, and he is still very much alive, and as insane as ever. Thompson didn't need any "pen-is-mightier-than-the-sword" cliches; indeed, who needs a pen when he has fangs, and a typewriter to hone them on? He is a genius, an omnipresent watcher, an acid bath. I believe we need another Thompson, but that cannot be done.

Thanks. C.M. Kallenberger

Summary: This movie was Halarious
Review: People who are bashing this movie have obviously never had fun in there life. Yes, some parts were gross, but I'm sure 90% of the population can relate to throwing up due to having too much fun through Drugs or Drinking.

I don't party anymore, and I don't drink or do drugs, but I use to when I was younger and I said there was no way to describe what it was like. I was wrong. This movie is right on.

I just couldn't stop laughing for one second.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Frustrating
Review: This movie had so much potential I can hardly stand it. After the first ten minutes, I thought I was in for a hilarious 'trip' the whole way through. Unfortunately, the amusing reactions to the various drugs and the equally amusing narrations by the Duke himself, were replaced with disgusting, drawn out scenes of vomiting and attempted suicide. This is something that needed to be there in some form because of the nature of the film, but it could have been shortened considerably or just simply alluded to and replaced with comedy or plot development. At least I didn't hate it completely like everyone else I know.
