Rating: Summary: read between the lines Review: I read so many reviews of this movie where people just don't get it, and try to keep others from doing so. What people don't do is read between the lines, and pick up all of the great 1971 Vietnam-era social commentary. This is not just a druggie movie. Watch it again.
Rating: Summary: I knew it was wrong but I did it anyway........ Review: The posted reviews show an obvious split between Thompson fans & those who are not familiar with his influence. I think both could enjoy the movie if they just would just be open to the rare insights into the American Dream found within. 4 out of 5 stars only because a couple of my favorite scenes from the book are missing (the taco-burger stand & Zeta shreiking at the Gun Club).
Rating: Summary: excellent movie for those who are going to vegas. Review: the critics sometimes call this trash but i laughed. this is the most perfect and most visual movie i've ever seen. this is highly recommended to fans of hunter s. thompson and it's worth it.
Rating: Summary: ONE OF THE ALL TIME WORST MOVIES I'VE EVER SEEN!!! Review: I find it difficult to believe that anyone in their right mind would find this movie entertaining. You couldn't pay me to watch it again. It has no story, no plot, and no dialogue worth listening to. It is a huge zero with nothing worthwhile to offer. Actually, it is below zero...way below! I liked Johnny Depp in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" but after seeing him in this piece of crap, I will never watch anything he does in the future as he has proven to me that I can not trust in his judgement to choose a decent script. There are so many good videos available, don't waste your time on a garbage movie like this one!
Rating: Summary: Goddamned Mescaline, why cant they make it alittle less pure Review: By far this was one of the greatest movies I have ever had the pleasure to read, it is an intense rollercoaster of drug filled missadvenures, in a town where excess is expected and to some extent inored. five stars is definitly not enough.
Rating: Summary: brillent movie of drugs and society. Review: this movie is brillent and terry gilliam really give this movie a good directing job and forget the critics. some people say this movie ripped-off tarantino but no it's a adapation of the book. this is a wonderful trip that amazed me.
Rating: Summary: IF YOUR A STAIGHT SHOOTER AVOID THIS MOVIE Review: If you dont party, you have never tried any drugs or do not like psycadelic movies, stay away from this one, but if you love OLIVER STONE movies or STANLEY KURBICK movies than this is for you. It messes with your head it has wierd chacters outrageous situations and uses many camera tricks that make you understand the thinking of the two drugged out road trippers. Like I said If you party if you have used drugs than youll surley love this movies its funny fast pased and filled with non stop laughs and lingo which make you glad that you popped this baby into your VCR.
Rating: Summary: TELL ME ABOUT THE GOLF SHOES, DAMN IT!!! Review: Well kiddies, this is your great Uncle Taco's second amazon movie review. I mostly spend my time reading, so I dont watch many movies. I made an exception here. At first, I couldnt tell if this movie was going to further convence me that all wisdom lies on the printed page, the advice of those older and more experienced than ourselves, and hard-core porn flicks. But once we hit the line, "We cant stop here! This here's BAT country!" I started laughing so hard I had to rewind 5 minutes of the movie that I couldnt hear over my own hystaric laughter. I dont remeber watching a movie that made me laugh so hard since helter skelter! I would recomend you watch this while VERY tired, as it enhanses it greatly. Definetly fun for the whole family. Hey, I just had a great idea, you all should read Clanbook: Baali then sit down, drink all the coke you can find and watch this movie 3 or 4 times in a row. Now THAT sounds like a day well-spent.I've decided that I should start including bits of wisdom for all who read my reviews, so here is todays zen-wisdom: In the land of lime-flavored glass down, rotating in an open space probe, lama's prey of sinning cheese.
Rating: Summary: Not for everyone! Review: I, personally, am not a drug user (nor drinker), but I did enjoy the book and the movie. It is one of the few movies I have seen, with the exception of The Dead, that stays close to the original book. There is a deeper theme to this story than drugs, and perhaps this is evident if one reads the book. This film is not for everyone, the type that the viewer will either enjoy immensely or hate intensely (in other words, my kind of film). This is not to say that I find drug use acceptable, positive, or funny, (quite the opposite), but as a film, Fear and Loathing is well done.
Rating: Summary: Suckiest Movie Award goes to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Review: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is quite possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. It is filled with gibberish and incoherant nonsense. The plot is as nonexistant as the dialogue. It's too bad Jonny Depp got dooped into doing this movie. It's a waste of the casette it is recorded on. That was two hours I will never get back. If I could, I would have given it a 0 star rating.
