Rating: Summary: After the father, the daugther loves it Review: The french TV broadcasted this film a few weeks ago and I'd love to watch it again, but this time tha was with my daughter and wife. My daughter loved it and was really impressed. She also fall in love with the music, not knowing C Stevens. She w'd love to play at the piano "if you want to sing out" but unfortunately it is unfoundable in France. I hope one of the readers of this comment will found the way to provide us with the score.
Rating: Summary: My all time favorite Review: Every time I see this film I get something new out of it. Harold, young, and obsessed with death meets and falls in love with Maude, old, and obsessed with living. To say more would give away too much. There is so much richness in this film, that it demands multiple viewings. The dialogue is full of quotes you want to start writing them down. And the single, breif view of the tatoo on Maude's arm says so much about her past and who she is...For those looking for a soundtrack should pick up Cat Stevens' Footsteps in the Dark, which contains the first time releases for the songs exclusive to the film.
Rating: Summary: My favorite movie of all time Review: This movie is about love, life and loss. It's an incredible tour de force for Hal Ashby (who appears in the movie at the Boardwalk). The music by Cat Stevens embellishes every mood in the movie. It's about non-conformity and following your heart, not what society thinks you "should do." Buy this today...you'll be glad you did!
Rating: Summary: Outstanding...My all time favorite movie... Review: H&M touches us in ways we do not fully appreciate until after the film has ended, at least this was my experience...I have see the film many, many times over he past 20+ years since it's release and I always find something new to discover/enjoy about Mr. Ashby's film. Ruth Gordon, a native of Wallaston,MA gives the most amazing performance of her career. Even today, this film will move you and and make you feel like doing summersalts; so remember, "everyone has the right to make a fool of themselves, you can't let the world judge you to much".(Maude) Watch and enjoy a wonderful movie experice with your love no matter whom she/he may be...love is ageless
Rating: Summary: Sheep! Review: Everyone does love this movie- and I don't know why. And I mean *LOVES* this movie. It isn't that great, it's highly overrated. The best stuff is the different "suicides" that Harold comes up with, after that it's just this eccentric old lady doing crazy, wacky things. And that's why people love it, the wacky grandma. Man, that's always an easy way to get laughs or whatever, it's like throwing a little red-headed girl into a sitcom that's lost its edge. The wacky Maude appeals to the lowest common denominator within this "cult" genre. She's a tool to manipulate your viewing, it's not good filmmaking or good storytelling. It's really not that good, rent it, don't buy it.
Rating: Summary: I wear a big locket...and Inside...two pictures........ Review: Harold, and Maude...More than a movie......It is a true gift!....Dont miss it!
Rating: Summary: Everyone Loves This Movie! Review: I think the reason there are so many five star reviews for this movie is that everyone who sees it loves it and everyone who loves it loves it A LOT! Harold and Maude continues to be one of the very best movies I have ever seen. I try to recruit people to watch it with me, but many are turned off by the premise. DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE OF NOT SEEING THIS MOVIE!
Rating: Summary: A perfect blend of life and death Review: Harold and Maude may be about a young man and an old woman falling in love, but its true message is that of freedom. I love this film. It says that life is a chance to try new things, to experiment, know matter what the conventional wisdom is. Cat Steven'd song states it perfectly: if you want to be free, be free.kcrosby1@bellsouth.net

Rating: Summary: A Brilliant Must-See Film! Review: I also agree that this film is one of the best life-affirming films ever made. What I love about it, having seen it several dozen times since it was released, is how powerful some of its most brilliant moments are. One of my most favorite (and haunting) is the quick glimpse we get of the numerical markings on Maude's arm as she sits with Harold. No further explanation is needed into why Maude celebrates life that way she does.
