Summary: Still good stuff.
Review: Thus far, if you've bought all the Simpsons DVD's; you could see six of the Halloween episodes; including four on this disc. But like others have said; it's kinda disapointing that #4 is not on this disc (I loved Terror at 5 1/2 feet). But it's great to see Homer travel through time; Homer and Bart in the "third Deminsion", the teachers eating students and Willie in the shinning. But like I said; Halloween #4 isn't on here; so I wouldn't recommend it unless you just want to see some old episodes.

Summary: FOX/Groening Continue To Frustrate DVD Fans
Review: First of all, they could have fit more episodes on this disk. Second, why the random choice of episodes? Why not put ALL the Halloween episodes on, or at least keep it sequential?

These guys seem almost purposely spiteful in the way they ham-hand their DVD releases... can they get it right once? Is that so much to ask?

Apparently.

Summary: THIS IS NOT WHAT WE WANT!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Let me start off by saying that I am just about as big a Simpsons fan as they come, but this does not make sense. Fox is wasting their time making cheezy dvd's like this instead of giving us the good stuff, the full seasons. (And I use good stuff lightly. The third season, which took a year to come out, is pretty light on special features and the menus are very simplistic. Seems to me they could have thrown that together in a couple of months.)
Just to clarify, I don't have a problem with the full season dvd's being sparse. I have all of the episodes on tape, but, as time goes on, the picture quality becomes less than desireable. I just want a perfect, uncut copy of the episodes to watch whenever I want. Hell, I don't care if they give us four dvd's with only the episodes on them, just don't take a year every time you do it. They should be cranking out at least three a year. Dvd will be extinct before all of the seasons see the light of day.
Back to the task at hand, I'll admit that I am a sucker who bought this dvd. Let's face it, Treehouse V probably won't be out until 2006 sometime and I can't stand the way that the station around here has been hacking the episodes in syndication. Plus I figured the "featurette" with Kang and Kodos would be worth a laugh. Unfortunately, the "featurette" was just a summary of clips from the Treehouse episodes. So, basically, the dvd has nothing new for Simpson fans. As the seasons are released, you will have the exact same thing.
I don't know how many people have read this far, but I think we need to hit Fox in their wallets before they start listening to us. We should all boycott the upcoming "Christmas with the Simpsons" Dvd. As long as we keep forking out $10 each time they release a dvd with nothing more than what we will pay $40 for later, they will keep ripping us off.

Summary: The Simpsons are capitalists!
Review: While I am still very excited to have some of the best episodes of Treehouse of Horror on DVD, I am so very dissapointed that all the episodes are not here. It's a DVD, for crying out loud!
So, while I don't regret shelling out my money for this DVD, it's obvious that The Simpsons are going to squeeze devoted Simpsons fans for every penny they can.

Summary: I smell a rat... I mean, a pigeon-rat!
Review: You can't beat the price and considering the SLOW release schedule of the complete seasons, you could be forgiven for grabbing this disc to tide you...HOWEVER would it have been too much to include Treehouse #3 and #4 (two of the best of the series)?

Also...be advised that while the DVD case pictures Mr. Burns as Dracula, that episode (from Treehouse #4) IS NOT included with this disc. What's the big idea?

Summary: Will We Have To Wait A Decade To Get All The Episodes?
Review: I agree that these are some of the best Treehouse of Horror episodes, but would it really have been difficult to include all of them? At the rate that they're releasing the full seasons DVDs, we won't have access to more recent seasons' Treehouse of Horrors till the 2010s. Sneaky way to extract even more dollars from us for this and the Simpsons Christmas DVD coming out in October...

Summary: The best of the best
Review: the treehouse of horror episodes are some of the best episodes in the entire series. I highly recommend any simpsons fan to get this DVD set.

Summary: A great collection of Halloween Episodes
Review: I bought this DVD last year on ebay. I had to get the Region2 version since it was the only one available at the time.

Tree house of Horror V - In this annual trilogy of terror Homer attempts to kill his family in "The Shining." Homer tries to fix a toaster and winds up altering the fabric of time itself in "Time and Punishment." Principal Skinner serves students for lunch in "Nightmare Cafeteria"

Tree house of Horror VI - In this Halloween style anthology, advertising icons go berserk in "Attack of the 50 Foot eyesores". Groundskeeper Willie invades the children's dreams in "Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace". Homer enters a 3-D world of computer animation in "Homer(3)"

Tree house of Horror VII - This Simpsons showcase features a terrifying look at Bart's evil twin in "The Thing and I." Lisa creating a miniature world in "The Genesis Tub" and aliens stealing the identities of Bill Clinton and Bob Dole in "Mr Kang Goes To Washington"

Tree house of Horror XII - In "Hex & The City", a gypsy curses Homer, bringing misery to everyone he loves. In "House of Whacks" a computer (Pierce Brosnan) takes over the Simpson house and attempts to kill Homer for Marge's love. And in "Wiz Kids", Bart and Lisa are students of a school for wizards, where they foil the evil Lord Montymort

Summary: A wise selection of episodes...
Review: Unlike the Simpsons' Christmas DVD, which featured a few episodes that had little to do with Christmas, this is a great selection of episodes. Fox used their brains on this one a little bit: it was released a few months after season three was distributed, which meant season four was on the way, so their selections were chosen from seasons 5-8 (season eight was the last truly GREAT season). Since season five probably won't be available until spring/summer of next year, this would be a great investment. Not only is it relatively cheap, but you can take comfort in the fact that you own every great Treehouse of Horror episode.

No matter what was going on in the world of television for the past fifteen years, the Simpsons was always the achilles heel of critics and TV lovers. It's been the most popular show on television since 1990 and even the non-conformists can't deny it's entertainment value. That's gotta count for something.

Get the boxed sets first, of course. But after that, go nuts with this one.
