Summary: Disney and Pixar have Done It Again!
Review: I love these Disney/Pixar movies, and Finding Nemo is no exception. It's a great movie for everybody, with a bunch of laughs, memorable characters, and a touching story. Everyone I know loves this movie! If you enjoy other Pixar movies like Toy Story and Monsters Inc., then you should definitely check this one out.

Summary: Not quite overrated, but almost there
Review: Finding Nemo was a very enjoyable animated film, but I just can't gush about it the way that most reviewers have.

The visuals, naturally, are incredible. The commentary and extra chapters included in the 'visual commentary' do an excellent job in showing how much work went into making believable computer generated water even if though it seems almost impossible to get an indepth look without a degree in computer animation.

The character of Dory made the movie for me. A couple of the side characters fell a little flat though. The surfer schtick of the sea turtle is something that will amuse small children but not adults.

As for people going on about how scary this movie is, don't underestimate your kids. Nothing makes me want to vomit more than sugar-sweetened childrens entertainment. Walt Disney removed quite a few dark elements from his fairy tale adaptations, but at least he left a few dark elements. The bottom line is that I was scared by the Wicked Witch of the West, the Wicked Queen, etc etc but it didn't scar me for life.

Speaking of which I love how the plot ties into current events. Senseless acts of violence happen (columbine, 9/11) but you need to learn to not live dominated by your fear. I think that this is the main reason why the movie has become such a success. For the same reason that the Lord of the Rings movies present ordinary people in heroic situations.

Summary: One of this Year's Finest Films
Review: Pixar continues to dominate computer animation with the crowd-pleasing family blockbuster "Finding Nemo". An overprotective clownfish (voiced by Albert Brooks) faces the many perils of the open ocean to rescue his "fish-napped" son Nemo and his only ally is a forgetful blue tang named Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres). Pixar's latest release was a runaway hit with critics and American audiences and became the top-grossing animated film of all time. "Finding Nemo" is an astounding and funny animated experience that sets new standards for computer animation. The film features a funny and enchanting storyline and memorable characters. Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres are an amusing pair with superb comic energy. The top-notch voice cast also includes Geoffrey Rush, Brad Garrett, Allison Janney, Vicki Lewis and Willem Dafoe. The computer animation is definitely groundbreaking with great detail on the underwater scenes and colorful characters.

If you're only going to purchase five DVDs this year, then "Finding Nemo" 2-Disc Collector's Edition should be included. The film is presented in both 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen (Disc 1) and full screen (Disc 2) formats. The picture quality is flawless with amazing clarity and rich use of colors. The 5.1-EX Dolby Digital sound is impressive and quite dynamic. This 2-Disc edition contains great supplemental extras including a filmmakers' visual commentary, an enjoyable virtual aquarium option, "Making Nemo" documentary, theatrical trailers, deleted scenes and some clever animated menus. Overall, "Finding Nemo" 2-Disc DVD is an outstanding purchase and definitely scores an "A".

Summary: Outstanding!
Review: "Finding Nemo" what an adventure. The movie starts out with Marlin losing his beloved wife and all of his 'baby' eggs except one whom his wife wanted to call Nemo. As the movie continues we see young Nemo starting school and immediately the adventure begins as he wanders away and is captured by a Scuba diver and taken to a fish tank in Australia. Dad is heartbroken and vows to find his son. During his travels he meets up with Dory, a blue fish who has short term memory loss. What a hoot!
My grandchildren sat glued to the TV through this entire movie.
It was packed full of eye catching animation and adventure.
Three words would best describe this movie: Captivating, imaginative and riveting! Well done!

Summary: Great lines
Review: Dorie definitely steals the show... her lines are history making... our favorites? "Give me some fin... noggin... Duuuude" This is by far the best, laughable disney film. My kids, in their teens love the story line, lines, etc... This is undoubtedly one of those movies worth buying, and watching again and again. Hilarious... Dorie provides nonstop entertainment.

Summary: The Oscar should go to Dory
Review: This is undeniably a great movie. The lighting and color are fantastic, and the animation is unparallelled.

The characters are brought to life with their imperfections and quirks, and each gives you a little something to identify with.

The star of the show is Dory, the best animated character to surface for a long time. Ellen Degeneres and the animators deserve recognition on Oscar night.

This is definitely one to buy for your collection.

Summary: Reel 'em In
Review: In The tradition of Toy Story, its sequel, and Monsters'Inc, Finding Nemo is another Disney/Pixar collaboration. Once again, this team-up takes computer animation to a whole new level.

The film tells the story of a young clown fish named Nemo (Voiced by Alexander Gould). On his first day of school, he wanders off, and gets lost. Frantic, his father Marlin (Albert Brooks) sets out to search the vast ocean for his beloved offspring. During the search, Marlin is befriended by forgetfull, yet well meaning Dory (Ellen DeGeneres). In their travels, the pair meets an assortment of colorfull characters.

Directors Lee Unkrich, Andrew Stanton, and the CGI animators don't mess with an already proven formula. The script is filled with a lot of humor and fun. Everything's in equal measure for both kids and adults. The CGI landscapes and characters are very detailed and life like. My favorite effect in the film though is the ripples in the water--pretty neat.

Like many of Disney's recent 2 disc DVD sets, Finding Nemo's bonus material has a little something for everyone. Disc one's extras and specs are geared more for those who want to find out how the film was put together, while disc 2 has some extras and specs that are for the young, and young at heart.

Disc One called "Filmmakers' World" presents the film in widescreen with an introduction from the directors. There's also a "Visual commentary" with deleted scenes, complete with a look at the voice cast's recording sessions. Two featurettes further look into the elements that go into making a film like this. The "Making Nemo" documentary is standard fare. While "The Art of Nemo", narrated by the artists, is a bit more interesting. A series of virtual aquariums top off the disc.

Disc Two, entitled "Family Fun", presents the film in full frame with the same director's introduction. "Exploring the Reef" is a short with Jean-Michel Cousteau and your Nemo friends with facts about marine life and their habitat. The disc also includes, the Pixar short Knick Knack, complete with commentary. You can also play the Fisharades game, take a tour of Pixar Studios, see character interviews, and publicity as well. Read-along storytime is for the youngest of viewers, while, learning fun with Mr. Ray's encyclopedia, is geared more to the older kids in the house. Since Disney is always in a state of promotion (like all film studios), there's a sneak peek of the next Pixar film, The Incredibles, for you to "sea". Rounding out the set are a few more virtual aquariums.

Finding Nemo is lots of fun. I would say sits somewhere behind the Toy Story films, but ahead of Monsters Inc. The set is recommended.

Summary: Nemo Found
Review: This film is truly amazing in the animation arena. In addition, the character voices are outstanding. Albert Brooks is great as the overbearing, neurotic father clown fish, Marlin. Ellen Degeneres is wonderful as Dory a friend who helps him find his lost son Nemo. The beginning of the film concerns me a little (for children) with the tragic scene of Marlin's "wife" Coral and their offspring eggs being devoured by a predator. Nemo was the only egg left behind. This causes Marlin to be overly protective of his only son. However, like all kids Nemo wants to spread his wings or in his case fins. He dares to go out into the open sea in which he gets caught by a scuba diving dentist who takes him back to Sydney with him. Along the journey to finding Nemo, friendships are formed, trust is developed, and courage becomes everyone's middle name.

Summary: This DVD so totally rocks, dude!!
Review: Let me just say first of all, when I bought this DVD on the first day it came out, every kid in the store was asking his or her mom "Mommy, can we get finding nemo??". This movie is really irresistable.

The first thing that registered in my mind when I started the
Finding Nemo DVD was that color!! The colors were so vibrant and bright, it was like you were in the ocean for real!

This movie has so many good points. First of all, it's funny. My sisters and I were giggling practically through the whole move. Dory is really funny, especially when she tries to speak whale, and the sea turtles are totally funny. The lesson reaches out to kids and parents alike.

Can you honestly think there is a person out there who doesn't love finding nemo? Buy this DVD (if you don't hav it yet, prcatically everyone has one by now, it sold 8 million copies on its first day), you won't regret it. The special features are awesome! It took me forever to watch it all!

I highly recommend this DVD, it's the perfect gift!
