Summary: Antz is a great achievement
Review: I can't understand why San-Fran was so down on this disc. Anyone that knows anything about Dreamworks knows that they developed a lot of new technology for this movie. The plot is interesting, the voices are first rate, and the animation is just spectacular. On DVD all of this is all the better and the surround is first rate. Buy it - Buy it now!

Summary: Excellent philosophical story
Review: This story reminds me of Latin American Literature. The term which comes to my mind is "determinismo". Some believe beings are pre-determined by birth to be who they are. Others believe that we can determine our destiny. Antz, I believe conveys the latter.

Summary: Exceptional Quality and outstanding reproduction!!!
Review: The best animated movie in the last years. Do not doubt it! Everything is extremely cool. Wonderful cast, perfect images, and the animation is out of our actual time. Good plot, and a predictable end considering the subject: ANTZ!

Summary: Certainly not very mature
Review: Bland violence and bad taste in a mediocre animation film does NOT make it more mature or "edgy." It just makes it unwatchable. I hope Dreamworks grows up soon.

Summary: A movie for the whole family
Review: I think this movie is great. This is one movie that I would love for my kids to watch, if I had any. I watched it myself three times already. Just like Toy Story this movie will be a smash at the Oscars.

Summary: This ain't no kid's movie
Review: Images of bloody, ripped up ant and termite bodies spread across a valley. A friendly wasp is flattened by a flyswatter. A few soldier ants are disentigrated by light beams. A decapitated ant dies in our hero's arms. With all this violence as well as the occaisonal four letter word, ANTZ seems less like a children's movie and more like some kind of obscure version of Steven Spielberg's SAVING PRIVATE ANT. Parents, a word of advise: If your kid is eleven or younger, don't let them see this movie. It helps reinforce the idea that death is funny, and we don't want our children turning out like morbid bullies. Adults, on the other hand, may be mature enough to like this film- the only reason I gave it less than 3 stars was because I was thrown off by the adult mood of what I thought was going to be a delightful children's movie.

Summary: An Ant for the more Mature
Review: First let me say I loved A Bug's Life and I loved Antz, but let's not try to compare the two. Antz is NOT a kids movie. It is for a more Mature audience (hence the PG rating). And once you get the idea that Antz is a kids movie out of your head, you find that it is an excellent movie. The animation is wonderful. The vocal performances are excellent, especially those of Woody Allen, Gene Hackman, and Christopher Walken in a minor part. The 2 main characters (Zee and Bala) are funny and easy to relate to and, for the most part, you are genuinely interested in what happens to them. Seeing the real world from their perspective was very clever and entertaining. And one final note (pun intended here), the musical score to the movie is top notch.
