Rating: Summary: We've Seen This Before Review: A familiar plot: a likeable crook, clueless cops, incompetant henchmen, and a fortune to be gained. How many times can anybody see the same thing again? This film brings nothing fresh to this situation. Lawrence tries too hard to make the weak script funny by doing what he does best, playing loud and obnoxious, and mugging. There are very few genuine laughs, and unfortunately, more than a few scenes that depict tired racial stereotypes. For Martin Lawrence fans only.
Rating: Summary: BLUE STREAK IS AN AMAZING DVD! Review: From hilarious comedy to a great story line, Martin Lawrence does it again!
Rating: Summary: Martin is always hilarious Review: Before watching "Blue Streak," I had heard that it wasn't that good of a movie, but I knew that since it has Martin in it that it had to at least have a few funny parts, and I was right.Miles Logan (Martin Lawrence) is a jewel thief who just got out of prison. He pretends be a cop in order to try and find the jewel that could make him millions of dollars richer. But it won't be as easy as he first thought it would. Since I had heard so many not so rave reviews about "Blue Streak," I wasn't really expecting that much out of it. There are a few parts that are flat out hilarious and the movie itself is interesting enough even when it's not funny. If you like Martin in other movies such as "Nothing To Lose" or "Big Momma's House," give "Blue Streak" a chance.
Rating: Summary: This Might Be The Worst Movie Ever Made Review: I went into viewing this movie without expectations...and I left with a serious migrane headache and hatred for the entire motion picture industry!!! When a movie actually exceeds the depths of low expectations, you know it's bad...and 'Blue Steak' drives the human psyche into the abyss of Horrorland. I read five of the first five reviews online here, and I can't tell you how wrong these people are. The original storyline is relatively safe and secure with Martin Lawrence being a thief who missed the opportunity to nab the "million dollar" diamond that eluded him during a heist. Lawrence poses as a detective to retrieve the diamond (which miraculously remains in a ventilation duct for a few years after the initial robbery). The premise all ready has flaws, but you can live with that...this is a movie after all. What is difficult to live with is that whoever wrote this mess did absolutely zero research on the regulations of the Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Thomas Guide in Los Angeles. I am not a cop. However, EVERYTHING that the law enforecemt officers do is completely the opposite of how they would actually act or is an overused cliche that the filmmakers think they can squeeze one more joke out of. The best character is the "traditional" Captain. Watch objectively as he walks into a bathroom screaming Martin Lawrence's cxharacter's name....watch objectively as he walks down a deserted police department corrider screaming Martin Lawrence's character's name. The cliche "loud and angry" Captain...that's funny...? Watch for the Dunkin Donuts boxes on the cops desks and the "clumsy" rookie who Lawrence obnoxiously drags through this mess. There are SO many blatant faults that occur during the last thirty minutes of this film that it's not even worth talking about. Anybody with a brain above the size of a gnat would realize this movie is horrendous. This is a waste of an hour and a half of your life. I've spent an additional fifteen minutes writing this in hope that it will save at least one person out there from viewing this disgrace of a motion picture. Oh, and one last thing...Martin Lawrence IS NOT FUNNY and (if you do watch this movie) PLEASE count how many times he's obvioulsy standing on a phone book to come close to his co-actors' hieght. What an atrocious film.
Rating: Summary: SO FUNNY! Review: This is such a good movie. I watched it with a friend who'd seen it before, and loved it, and then I watched it with my parents. Even though there were some fight scenes, which my mom hates, she thought it was really funny. It's really funny when he dresses up and pretends to be a pizza guy and calls a policeman "shamoo." My friends and I love that, and we are all now shamoos (nevermind, you kind of had to be there to understand how funny it was). Anyway, all though it is very far fetched (jurisdiction?), it is a really funny, good movie. You should definetly see it if you like crazy, unsugestive commedies.
Rating: Summary: Good start, weak follow-through Review: A jewel thief manages to stash a stolen diamond in a building under construction before he is apprehended by the cops. He returns after two years in jail, only to find that the building is a brand new police station. It's a great premise, but the writers didn't know what to do with it, and it grows tiresome toward the end. However, Martin Lawrence and Owen Wilson keep it watchable.
Rating: Summary: Easily Martin's Best Solo Effort. Review: "Blue Streak" is Martin's "Beverly Hills Cop", just like "Big Momma's House" is his "The Nutty Professor". So he Rips off Eddie Murphy... Get Over It, he's a funny man. (even though Big Momma was sub-par) Martin Stars as a criminal who stashes a diamond in a construction sight when he gets arrested. On his release he finds the construction sight has been turned into a Police Station. This of course provides the comedian with ample comic fodder and the audience with alot of laughs. The Supporting Cast are Great (Highlights are William Forsythe and Dave Chappelle) and the Action Set Pieces are on Par with any Big Action Film. The Pacing is Perfect so the film never lags, and the direction is spot on. Martin's Pizza Delivery Boy is the Films only weak link as that scene provides no real laughs at all, only Simpathy laughs. That scene is the reason this film gets a 4 instead of a 5. Other than that it's a near perfect Comedy.
Rating: Summary: Great action, bad comedy Review: This movie really surprised me. I expected another unintellectual juvenile comedy. It wasn't like that at all. In fact, the worst part about this movie were the absurd attempts at comedy. This is an action film. And Lawrence appears to be an excellent action film actor. The little bits of comedy thrown in were just horrible and broke the cohesiveness of the rest of the movie. I highly recommend to action fans. Anybody else will hate it. Miles Logan (Lawrence) is a professional jewel thief who's caught in a major heist. In the escape attempt, he hides the prize diamond in a ventilation shaft in what he thinks is an abandoned building. He's arrested shortly thereafter and spends two years in prison. When he returns for his loot, he discovers the abandoned building is actually an LAPD station, and the ventilation shaft he's trying to reach is on a secured floor. So he steals a security pass and poses as a cop to try to get to the shaft. From then on, it's one adventure after another as the police think he's a real detective. Not really many bad things to say about this except that most of the comedy was not only useless, it hurt the movie. Exclude the comedy and you have an excellent action flick. I still give it ****.
Rating: Summary: Martin Lawrence's entertainment! Review: I love many movies starring Martin Lawrence. In my humble opinion, this is actually better than Big Momma's House. He is a wannabe cop, and the officers get him to act like one, then he crosses the border of Mexico at the end and they try to but they were at the other side. I don't like giving away stuff, but I think this is also the most original of what he's done. Then there's these other guys there too who I forgot what they did but they were kinda ghetto....This is worth the money at any price. It's funny, it's entertainment, it's impressive.
Rating: Summary: its a Martin's Movie Review: this was an outstanding movie.. my husband watches this movie over and over and over again and laugh every time.. what more can I say this is really good comedy..
