Summary: FUNNY MOVIE!
Review: First the movie is great. Second, here are some quotes I liked: A neighbor (John Witherspoon, Friday and Wayans Bros.) tells a cop he doesn't want to hear "no god damned Public Enema". It is funny when Kid is called "Eraserhead" a couple times throughout the movie. And when Kid and Play start dissing each other while rapping, don't get me started. Just see the movie.

Summary: Who would want a public enema?
Review: Hilarious and best of a trilogy starring Kid n' Play as destined to be rap stars, presently in high school, and planning the "house party" event of the year at Play's house while his parents are gone. Christopher Reid plays Kid and his father (played by comedian Robin Harris) forbids him to go to the party after getting word that he got in a fight at school. Kid n' Play's rivals are played by Full Force who probably made more of an impact in thier comedic roles in House Party than in thier real life musical career. One of the funniest characters is DJ "Dragon breath" Bilal, played by none other than comedic genius, Martin Lawrence in his feature film debut. This film came out before the hit series "Martin" which by the way co-starred Tisha Cambell (as Martin's girl) who plays Kid's girlfriend in House Party. Anyway House Party is definitely for fans of old school rap and Martin Lawrence's style of hilarity. There are many funny performances in this film and Kid n' Play may surprise you with there rhyme skills and sense of humor.

Summary: Hip Hop ready to start!
Review: House party 1,2 and 3 are the best parts to ever be a complete sucess after Kid'n'Play finally done all three movies of House party and had made so many soundtracks for the motion picture.I will always remember how Kid'n'Play made this a no.1 movie of the year so everyone can see how it was back in those days. However,House Party 4 tried the best they could do in order to bring new laughter into the sequel.Unfortunaly,it was considered to be known as a dismal failure.

Summary: Awesome Party
Review: House Party is a very funny movie that aviods all the usual cliches of teen oriented fare, not only are the two leads( Kid and Play) likeable and natural actors, their also talented rappers given a good oppurtunity to show their talent in avery cool scene. The screenplay is excellent, providing a lot of geniune laughs. defintely worth a look....

Summary: AN EXTRAORDINARY MOVIE!!!
Review: House Party is far better than I thought it would have been. The plot is basically a fresh look on a teenagers life I should know this because I happen to be a teen.

A funny comedy filled with rap music, love , family and tons of explicit language made this film a popular teen movie in 1990.

Although the plot is a little downbeat this film portrays a teenagers life perfectly in 1990. Apparently this film recieved 3 stars which is rather suprising but if you are a fan of KID'N PLAY you'll love this. Recommended to a rap fan.

Summary: This is one party 2 you won't forget.....
Review: House Party is heavy!!! The cast are great and the storyline is actually real, something teens can relate to aswell as parents. Kid's dad makes me laugh! I loved when he said "it was so hot in here last night I swear I saw the devil in here!" Full Force play the school bullies and they played it heavy!! There is one line you won't forget, "I'm gonna kick your f****** ass!" Kid and Play's rhyme battle was really good and Bilal....he's great! There is another line you won't forget, "shut the f*** up Bilal!!!" That's repeatedly said by Kid and Play cos Bilal doesn't know when to shutup!!! I like the music and the whole atmosphere of teens wanting to have fun. But the best part is the dance battle between KidnPlay and Sharane and Sidney. It's HEAVY!!! You'll watch that part over and over trust me!!! The whole movie is just great and you'll laugh a lot. It's also great for memories for those who grew up in the 90's, especially the music and dancing. Trust me when I say GET THIS!!! By the way I aint seen house party 3+4 but I've seen the 2nd one. It's not as good but it's good to watch at least once or twice still. But the 1st one...a DEFINITE MUST HAVE!!!

Summary: One of The Few Great Movies
Review: House Party. The best of the House Party movies. In my opinion, they should've stopped at the first. House Party is about a house party. High school kids getting together to have fun. This movie is soooo funny. From beginning to end you will laugh. You will be able to relate to it. It's a really great movie. It's well written and the acting is good. Sure there's a whole lotta profanity in it, but that contributes to the humor. Makes you just wanna get up and dance.

Now the 2nd and 3rd don't even compare. They're downright ridiculous. They shouldn't have been made. But they were so I guess I'll have to live with it. If you choose to see them, that's on you. But just be sure to check out the first House Party. You will not regret it.

Summary: A white man who just ain't down.
Review: I remember watching this on TV on afternoon. I said to myself 'Damn, this is one long Martin episode!'

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A modern classic. They don't make them this good anymore!
Review: I watched House Party for the first time when I was 16. I love this movie so much because the story perfectly what life was like for teens my age back then. I remember wearing the flat-top fade haircuts (still wear mine to this day), the dope clothes, writing the dope fresh rhymes, working hard in school, all in between fending off the knuckleheads, and talking to the girls. Besides being the movie of my generation, it truly is a classic African-American movie.
Made for the low low price of $3million by the Hudlin Brothers the film became a huge hit and a cult classic. The story follows Kid as he tries to go to Play's house party. The only problem: his Dad has grounded him for having a fight earlier that day. Sneaking out that night to go to the party he runs afoul of those Full Force knuckleheads (sporting jerricurl mullets) and racist cops. At the party he dances the night away macking both Sydney and Sherraine, then battles his boy play on the mic beating him handily cause Kid spelled backwards describes Play best. After walking Sydney home he comes this close to getting some. Unfortunately when her parents come home he's forced to leave. Outside he runs afoul of those Full Force knuckleheads. That leads to a stint in jail and some really inspired rapping from kid. His friends bail him out and after some burger king, Kid sneaks back in his house where he pays the painfully funny price for his night of fun.
The film chock full of laughs with perfect comic timing in every frame. Rappers Kid N' Play give great performances as do the members of Full force. However, the films supporting cast is what makes this movie a classic. The Late Robin Harris is perfect as Kid's cantankerous dad (Watch this move and you'll realize Bernie Mac stole his act) and Martin Lawrence steals scenes here. Tisha Campbell is great as the love intrest. Other noteworthy performances are from Darryl "Chill" Mitchell, the girl who plays Sydney's everyone blends into the background seamlessly and becomes a character. The Hudlin Brothers do a great job here; with their imagination they overcome the limitations of small budget by making a film that is as fresh today as it was way back in 1990.
This is a Shawn James essential video. If you like African-American movies this movie belongs in your collection. For a great Saturday movie night, Pop some popcorn Fix yourself some Dick Gregory or some Red Kool-Aid and pop this DVD in your player.
