Summary: Classic Old School Movie
Review: I watched this for the first time a few days ago, this low-budget old school movie is funnier than any other big hollywood movie. It's all good laughs,(The scene where the mother has the white stunt double is frickin hilarious) and its a very funny spoof on movies like Shaft. Kung Fu Joe is really funny, and the guy with the fish in his shoes i don't remember his name is awesome(My ....better have my money lol). Everything about this movie is funny, from the guy who OG-ed to the cameo by Chris Rock. Defintely rent this movie, it may be hard to find but you wont be disappointed.

Review: I'm Gonna Git U Sucka is the greatest movie of all time. I first saw it when I was in the 4th grade and now, at the ago of 20, it is still the funniest sh** ever to me. Antonio Fargas' performance as "pimp of the year" Flyguy is oscar worthy. The film pokes fun/pays tribute to the blaxploitation films of the '70s, such as Shaft and Hammer. Non-stop laughs from begining to end featuring some of today's illest comedians, such as Chris Rock. I don't know how many times I've watched this film, it's gotta be in the thousands, but it never gets old.

Review: I'M GONNA GIT YOU SUCKA is one hilarious film; even though many of the jokes fall flat at times, the whole is superlative tongue in cheek satire. A broad humored satire of those wonderful 70's "black exploitation" films, Wayans and crew serve up scene after scene of hilarity. For instance: a sleazy girl is singing a sultry version of "When the Saints Come Marching In," and when Wayans asks who she is, the waitress says "She's the director's sister." (She is!). When ex-football star Jim Brown asks Wayans why he thinks he's qualified to be a black hero, Wayans tells him "I'm an ex football player." When Dawnn Lewis as Wayans' sweetie gets the cramps, she really gets cranky!! John Vernon as Mr. Big spouts off why shouldn't he be in a black exploitation movie, other actors have! There are so many scenes like this that one can't help but laugh and laugh again.
Featuring a cavalcade of black and white actors, including Clarence Williams III, Isaac Hayes, Ja'net Dubois, Antonio Fargas and Steve James, I'M GONNA GIT YOU SUCKA is a hoot to watch!

Review: I'M GONNA GIT YOU SUCKA! is a spoof an blaxploitation films of the 1970's. This is the first film written, directed by, and starring Keenen Ivory Wayans. Jack Spade is an Army secretary who returns home to find out that his brother has died of an O.G. (an overdose of gold chains). Jack gathers up an army of some local neighborhood hero's (Bernie Casey, Antonio Fargas, Steve James, Isaac Hayes, and Jim Brown) to help him fight and defeat Mr. Big, the crime lord responsible for his brother's death. This movie has many funny moments, especially one that has Chris Rock making an appearance as a rib joint customer. This is a film for both action and comedy fans! Keenen Ivory Wayans would go on to direct SCARY MOVIE and SCARY MOVIE 2!

Review: I'm Gonna Git You, Sucka.I'm Gonna Git You, Sucka (Ivory Wayans, 1988) is an Ivory Way production that is written, directed and starring Keenen Ivory Wayans. Keenen is the eldest child of Hollywood family, the Wayans. The Wayans are much like the Arquettes and the Baldwins, with many members of the family having careers in the Cinema Industry. From l-r: Hammer, John Slade, Jack Spade, Slammer. With a long list of acting, writing and directing projects behind him including being both the writer and director of blockbuster Scary Movie (Ivory Wayans, 2000), Keenen Ivory Wayans is currently enjoying a successful career of stardom. I'm Gonna Git You, Sucka is the first in a series of Genre spoofs. The others are Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinkin' Your Juice In The Hood, a spoof of such films as Menace to Society (Hughes, 1993) and Boys in The Hood (Singleton, 1991), and Scary Movie, a parody of such films as Scream (Craven, 1996) and Halloween (Carpenter, 1978). However, I'm Gonna Git You, Sucka is a spoof of the Blaxploitation genre of films. Blaxploitation is a term used for films that were made mainly during the 1970's and featuring either an all or mainly black cast. The heroes were super cool guys and gals that took no crap from the crooks, be they black or white. Examples of such films are Shaft (Parks, 1971)- Starring Richard Roundtree and Moses Gunn; Superfly (Parks, 1972)- Starring Ron O'Neal and Carl Lee; Foxy Brown (Hill, 1974)- Starring Pam Grier, Peter Brown and Terry Carter. Blaxploitation was a very popular genre with the black population of North America as it came at a time of political and racial strife. The films often showed the black 'anti-hero' fighting his way out of the ghetto and struggling against the oppression of 'The Man' (a generic term for the white government at the time). It made most of the black population think that anyone could be a hero, no matter the colour of their skin or the background they came from...well..as long as they had a two-foot Afro and a tight leather jacket with lapels like wings. The cast of I'm Gonna Git You, Sucka started either their lives or careers involved with black cinema and music. I'm Gonna Git You, Sucka stars a veritable feast of stars of the genre, including Antonio Fargas - Starsky and Hutch, Shaft; Isaac Hayes - Truck Turner (Kaplan, 1974). He also wrote the score for Shaft; Jim Brown - Slaughters Big Rip-off (Douglas, 1973); Bernie Casey - Dr. Black and Mr. Hyde (Crain, 1976), Cleopatra Jones (Starrett, 1973). This combination of contemporary actors and the black heroes of the 1970's adds accuracy to the parodies whilst also investing the plot with humour. An example of which is the scene where Isaac Hayes (previously a professional singer, now the voice of Chef in South Park) is driving along a highway in his car singing very badly along with the radio. The film centres on Jack Spade (Keenen Ivory Wayans) who, upon being honourably discharged from the US army, decides to visit his mother in the part of town called Anyghetto, USA. Upon arriving he finds that his brother, Junebug, has died of an O.G. (Over Gold). When he is shown a recent photo of his now late brother who, it is seen, wore more gold than a very rich Mr. T, Jack asks the recurring question, "How'd he go the bathroom with all that stuff on?" His mother, Ma Bell (Ja'Net Dubois), reveals to Jack that both her and Junebugs widow Cheryl (Dawnn Lewis), Jacks ex-highschool sweetheart, are now being terrorised by Junebugs former employers, members of Mr. Big's crime ring. Outraged at this, Jack vows to take the fight to the crooks and their boss Mr. Big (John Vernon) who is a stereotypical representation of 'The Man'. However, before he does this he decides to enlist some help. He decides to ask John Slade (Bernie Casey), an ex-crime fighter in the John Shaft mould, for help. He finds John at the 'First Annual Youth Gang Competition', a type of Olympics where street kids compete to see who can outrun a guard dog whilst carrying a stolen TV, and which gang can strip a car in the quickest time. John, after finding out that his ex-lover is actually Jack's mother, (confusing, eh?) decides to teach Jack the basics about being a super cool crime-fighting machine. This involves teaching Jack that ordering a double Pepsi doesn't quite cut it next to ordering a double whisky and also introducing him to his old partners in crime fighting. These humorous characters include Hammer - Isaac Hayes. Hammer is a bad singer and a bad ass shooter. Slammer - Jim Brown. Slammer is always complaining about his bunions. Kung Fu Joe - Steve James. Joe was a trainee of Bruce Lee but only in acting. Fly Guy - Antonio Fargas. Fly Guy is the former 'Pimp of the Year'. He was framed by Mr. Big and is now out for revenge. Upon meeting up and equipping themselves with every weapon under the Sun (in Hammer's case, so much so that he falls over and lays on the floor for several minutes being shot by his own guns.), the surviving members, apart from Kung-Fu Joe who was beaten by bent coppers working for Mr. Big, take the fight to Mr. Big himself. This leads to humorous results, including the robbery of Mr. Big's Big Brim Bar, where you can only enter if you have a hat with a brim that is at least 2 foot in diameter and the kidnapping of Cheryl, who scares her would be kidnapper with an Exorcist style display of her period pains. Kung Fu Joe fights the racist cops in a comic look at the beating of Rodney King Although I'm Gonna Git You, Sucka is a comedy, it does have several serious messages about the way society in the 1970's treated black people and the way that there will always be a white person with more power than a black person, as portrayed by the white crime lord Mr. Big and his army of black henchmen. This is further highlighted by several other scenes, such as the black revolutionary who has devoted his life to fighting the man, yet has married an Aryan woman and has two children, one who is aptly named Whitey. Although both of his children are Aryan they are completely against white people, calling Abraham Lincoln a "white capitalist swine". This is a comment on the fact that racism is to do with how you are raised and not by the colour of your skin. Ivory Wayans also shows the flip side to this idea in a scene in which a black News Reporter is talking to John Slade. The black reporter states that he was raised in a middle-class suburban family and didn't really fit in with "blacks". It turns out that the Reporter "can't speak jive" and can't dance to save his life. He's also a huge Springsteen fan, which is a blasphemy whatever your colour. Ivory Wayans also represents the stereotypical image that some people have about black youths being criminals. This is done with the Youth Gang Competition scene, having gangs of Black and Hispanic youths competing in criminal activities. However, Ivory Wayans also suggests that the youths of black neighbourhoods should be doing something more creative with their time, rather than spending it committing crimes. Antonio Fargas as Flyguy, the hero pimp Although I'm Gonna Git You, Sucka has subtle yet serious racial connotations, you have to be looking for them to spot them. A large number of the jokes are racially orientated, such as the 'Pimp of the Year' contest in which pimps compete against each other in the same manner as a beauty contest, with swimsuit and talent sections. But all this comes from the genre that it is spoofing and the fact that the writer and director himself is black. The jokes are still truly funny, no matter your ethnic background. And with the recent popularity of Scary Movie, fans will be eager to get their hands on more of Ivory Wayan's work, and this is the best he has to offer. Get a copy however you can whether you have to beg, borrow or steal...and even if you have to do the hundred metre sprint with a guard dog chasing you.

Review: If you liked 'Naked Gun', or other pharsical movies, you will love this one. Made in the tradition of the best pharse comedies, it is hysterically funny and makes you laugh at every turn. There are some very amusing characters, brought to life by a cast of brilliant comedic actors. This is one of the very best movies with this type of comedy. Highly recommended!

Summary: Great Movie but disappointing DVD package
Review: One of the funniest I've ever seen. One of the funniest movies of the 80's. But the DVD quality is horrible. Since its not an anamorphic transfer the quality is grainy. The DVD only has 3 gigs of data so that means the movie was compressed. You would think a greatly written and acted movie would have a commentary and extras features. Not on this!! This movie deserved better treatment.
