Summary: Great movie
Review: I thought this was a kids movie, or a chick flick, but it's neither. It's the kind of movie that drunken college guys will quote for hours (cf. Fletch, Spinal Tap, etc.). It even has a great performance by Nigel Tufnel (a.k.a. Christopher Guest) that shouldn't be missed.

Regarding the person who said you have to flip the disc to watch the whole thing, I suspect they haven't tried to watch it yet. I did not buy my copy on amazon, but on my disc (which appears to be the same edition), there is widescreen on one side and pan & scan on the other. There's no way they couldn't fit this movie on one side, since there are ZERO extras. Oh, by the way, the "collectable booklet" is a joke. It's just the ordinary, pointless liner notes in the case.

Great movie, though.

Summary: YOU MUST SEE THIS MOVIE
Review: Since the invention of the Hollywood swordfight, there have been five Hollywood swordfights that have been rated "the most exciting, the most authentic"; this one left them all behind.

Excellent, excellent movie. I can only say "SEE IT!"

Warning: You will be quoting it for the rest of your life. If you've seen it, you know what I mean and you understand the above comment on the swordfight between Westley and Inigo!

Summary: disappointed...
Review: When I saw the movie, I was surprised that so many people gave it a high rating. This movie is for a very young audience, not even for teenagers.

Summary: A movie the whole family will LOVE!
Review: This is one of my all time classic favorites. It's in a class of it's own with it's fairy tale story, its clever cast of characters, and humor that everyone will love from age 5 to 50. This is one of those movies you can watch over and over again, thats how you know a film is that good when it stands the test of time, and each time you see it its as good as the last.

Summary: One of my favorites
Review: This is truly one of my all-time favorite movies, so I was excited to see it on DVD. I was disappointed, however, that it's a single layer disk and that you have to flip it once to watchthe whole movie. They really could have put more effort into making the DVD version of the film.

Summary: As you wish...
Review: Wishing for a perfect movie? This one has a little bit of everything. Action, adventure, romance, comedy, drama.....you name it. I would have to say this movie is number one on my list of all-time-favorites.

Summary: Prepare to die
Review: It is inconceivable how they could make such a good movie. This is one of those movies that the story is being told and periodically you are drawn back to the reader and listener to see what they think of the story. The reader is a grandfather played by Peter Falk and the grandson that is listening to the bedtime story is Fred Savage. Watch the expressions on Prince Humperdinck's (Chris Sarandon) face as he gets foiled again. Exceptional good story and actors. Lots of mush and unexpected trials.

Summary: simple the best
Review: The Princess Bride is simply the best movie no questions asked.

Summary: Delightful
Review: The Princess Bride has to be one of the most delightful movies ever made. There is something here for the whole family. Just the wit and humour make it worth seeing, not to mention the many great scenes such as the wonderful sword play between Cary Elwes and Mandy Patinkin. Some of movie's many funny lines have stuck permanently in my memory, never to be forgotten, such as when Cary says "Life is about suffering; anybody who says different is just trying to sell you something."

You have to love a movie with dialogue like that.

Interestingly enough, I've recently learned that there is a whole subculture of people who like to communicate exclusively through the dialogue used in the movie.

I just rented the movie and saw it for only the second time since it came out in 1987, and it was even better the second time. I will watch it again soon. This is one movie that just gets better every time you watch.

Summary: Great movie, so-so DVD
Review: OK, you've seen 368 reviews saying this is an outstanding movie. I don't want this review to add to that list; this movie is one of my all-time favorites and I can quote most of the lines from the movie.

But what I do want to recommend is that you wait a little while. There have been persistent rumors that MGM will be releasing a special edition of this movie, with extra features and commentary from director Rob Reiner in the first half of 2001.

I don't know about you, but there's nothing than frustrates me more than having to buy a movie twice because of this type of action on the part of the studio.
