PAM GRIER ONCE AGAIN GETS CHANCE TO KICK BUTT. SHE SHOULD'VE BEEN IN THE MOVIE MORE. THE SPECIAL EFFECTS WERE GOOD. GIVE CREDIT WHEN CREDIT IS DUE. EDDIE MURPHY IS THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN ACTOR TO HEADLINE A SCI-FI ACTION COMEDY. THE STUDIO WAS AT FAULT FOR NOT PROMOTING THE MOVIE PROPERLY. THE SCENE WHERE EDDIE AND ROSARIO HAVE THIER BODIES ALTERED IS THE FUNNIEST PART OF THE MOVIE. PAM GRIER IS ALSO INJECTS SOME FIRE INTO HER ROLE AS EDDIES MOTHER. WHEN JAY MOHR AND EDDIE ARE TOGETHER ONSCREEN THERE ARE PLENTY OF LAUGHS. THEY WORK GOOD TOGETHER. RANDY QUAID GETS A FEW LAUGHS AS AN OUTDATED ROBOT. OVERALL FANS OF EDDIE MURPHY WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED. EDDIE SHOULD BE APPLAUDED FOR TRYING TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. WATCH THIS MOVIE AND MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND. YOU'LL LIKE IT.

Review: This is not a movie that is generally thought of as funny because of writing or acting but it is funny because oof how out there it is. you can not take it on face value but if you are looking for a funny off colar movie this is it.

Summary: Eddie Murphy at his best
Review: Do not let the box office statistics or the poor reviews put you off: This movie is excellent modern comedy for the sharp witted. Science Fiction aficianados will be kept amused with the futuristic gadgetry, and those who don't usually go for science fiction will be carried through by the humour. While the plot is undoubtedly superficial, this is because it is not the focal point of the film: The satricical humour and richness of the characters provides the entertainment. The robot characters steal the show, lead by Randy Quaid, who plays Murphy's side-kick bodyguard robot, Bruno. Bruno's 'Your sister didn't seem to mind' quip is without a doubt the funniest moment of the movie, and sets the tone for the next hour-and-change. This movie is excellent light-hearted entertainment and should not be missed.

Review: A hilarious movie full of charming characters. The only limitation is people who do not enjoy "stupid" humor will not like it, but the front cover of the box should clue people in.

Pluto Nash (Murphy) is an ex-crook trying to make it in the honest world of running a night club, but gets into trouble with the moon mob when he refuses to sell out to a mysterious casino baron. With his robot side-kick Bruno (Randy Quaid, AKA "cousin Eddie" from the Vacation movies) a beautiful singer (Rosario Dawson), and his mother, Pluto Nash is chased across the moon colony by a bunch of goons while trying to find the bad guy that is behind it all.

Lots of shooting, goofy robot interactions, freeze-dried Chihuahuas, and some good old Eddie Murphy wit make this a great movie for people who "like this sort of thing."

Review: The Adventures of Pluto Nash is a science-fiction movie for fans of 1950's and 1960's written science fiction -- the stuff you find on library bookshelves, written by Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, and Ron Goulart. That's both this movie's appeal and its marketing problem.

It doesn't rely on cutting-edge special effects for its appeal, although enough money has been spent on the production values that the film is visually well-realized. There are no slow-mo aerial martial arts battles, no stargates, no time-travel.

"Pluto Nash" just tells a good, solid, well-plotted near-future science-fiction adventure story with a light touch -- the sort of story that fans of Heinlein's short stories "It's Great to Be Back" and "The Menace from Earth" would appreciate.

Good cast led by Eddie Murphy with nice turns by Rosario Dawson, Pam Grier, Luis Guzmán, John Cleese, Randy Quaid, and Peter Boyle-- and a little extra brought to bear by the short-lived TV series "Action"'s Jay Mohr as a future saloon singer updating Sinatra.

This isn't Star Wars or 2001: A Space Odyssey. It's just a fun movie-movie. But it's a shame that Eddie Murphy had to take a hit for delivering solid science fiction -- and good fun.

Review: Eddie Murphy plays a bar owner named Pluto Nash who is famous on the Moon. That sounds out-of-this-world! A couple of dirty businessmen want him perished because he has the hottest spot on the Moon! How insane is that? "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" is an insane movie that deals with intergalactic conspiracies and insane androids. Nobody should care about the story; it's a comedy that isn't funny. At least the special effects are noteworthy. Rosario Dawson is in it too, which is a plus. Randy Quaid is Bubba, the android who runs about 5 mph, maximum. John Cleese is an automated driver for a stolen car. Luis Guzman saved the popular Pluto Nash, but has a problem with robots. Jay Mohr plays a singer who wore a quilt and has two wives, one cloned. If you can stand the outrageousness, then you may like this movie. If you want to see a real hero on the Moon, then watch Clint Eastwood rescuing mortals on "Space Cowboys." Too bad this movie made a whopping twenty bucks at the theaters; it's decent enough to see.

Review: There are some movies that are not meant to be great art. They aim to be nothing more than a fun way to pass time and eat popcorn at the same time. The Adventures of Pluto Nash is one of those movies.

Eddie Murphy is great as the intrepid hero Pluto Nash as he fights the sinister space mafia. Originally, Nash was a small businessman who the mafia tried to shake down. However, Nash decides to fight the mafia in what turns out to be one of the most slapsticky sci-fi adventure flicks of all time. Thrills and spills abound in this wild and wacky funfest.

If you just want to relax and have fun while eating popcorn, then this is a great movie for you.

Summary: Good Co-Stars & Production Designs, But Eddie Is So ... DULL
Review: Everybody's saying "Pluto Nash" is as bad as "Battlefield Earth." The fact is, "Pluto" is much better than Travolta's disarsterous film, considering the talent involved. But again, considering the names of the people involved, and the money spent here, "Pluto" should be called a big failure.

First, the film is not thrilling at all. The time is 2087, and Eddie's character ex-smuggler Pluto Nash owns a bar on the moon. The business is going fine until a guy is sent to take over the place (in a Western film way). Pluto refuses and gets involved in shooting and ... isn't this story too clithed?

But it's Eddie's film, in which you may expect tons of laughs. Sorry, but you'll be disappointed. Actually, you will laugh sometimes, but not because of Eddie, who is the least funny. He keeps cool attitude all the time as the hero, but it looks as if his mind is just detached far from the character. He is as unmemorable as in "Harlem Night."

But there are two saving graces -- very costly ones, I say -- which deserve special mention. One of them is its co-stars. OK, listen this. You get Randy Quaid, Rosario Dawson, Joe Pantliano, Jay Mohr, Luis Guzman, James Rebhorn, Peter Boyle, Burt Young, Pam Grier, and John Cleese. Plus you get two uncredit cameos (one from Ms. Douglas, and other from one of the Baldwin Bros). Wow. And the result is that you will remember few of them. See how John Cleese is wasted as a role which is as tiny as that of 'Nick' in Harry Potter.

The other good thing about the film is its production designs. Look closely, and you will see many, many humourous things done to them, like playful references to famous names like one Clinton (not Bill). And apparently "The Rocky Horror Show" is still showing on the moon. Nice touch, and the CGIs are in fact first rate. There are so many things going on, and you might watch it again ... if the film is much funnier.

I think I know the point the script is trying to make. It is done by Neil Cuthbert, who did much funnier "Mystery Men." However, the cast (especially Eddie) is most unsuitable for the type of movie like "Mystery Men" -- that delightfully off-beat comedy, which will not be called the mainstream product of the industry. Somehow Hollywood gets the wrong idea, using Eddie Murphy in this screenplay with quirky humor. No, what they needed is Ben Stiller who can do "Zoolander" quite joyfully.

I like the film. I like Randy Quiad's old-type robot, which is certainly hilarious. Really. But I cannot give a good review simply because the fun you get from the film is the kind you get when you read trivia about some good films. The center of "Pluto Nash" namely Eddie Murphy is just incredibly dull presence, and you cannot let him do this again, sending a wrong message to him. (But he did in "I Spy" and "Showtime" ... oh dear.)

Review: This movie is another in a long line of modern science fiction failures. Not that it is completely without merit. Eddie Murphy is above average but a little crude as the intrepid Pluto Nash, and Randy Quaid is astonishing considering the terrible character he was saddled with. There is an uplifting appearance by John Cleese as a stolen vehicle. Riddled with the below average slapstick that most modern comedies fail at, this movie just doesn't seem like anyone is trying very hard.

We've finally come to a time when technology is allowing some of the most incredible and downright impossible events be put to screen. The biggest success of modern filmmaking being the stellar fantasy epic "Lord of the Rings". However, sci-fi lovers get nothing compared to fantasy and action/adventure aficionados. In this film, there are arcane and somewhat stupid gadgets that are the throwaway jokes of sci-fi parodies, like frozen puppies and obsolete AI robots. As a sci-fi film it fails, as a comedy it barely passes, spend your time elsewhere.

Review: Well, I don't know who these top 500 and 1000 reviewers think they are to give everything a bad review because they assume they'll make a career out of it once they get out of their mother's basement, but I think, for us normal people who don't sit around and write thousands of pathetic movie reviews on amazon.com, that Pluto Nash is a fun movie. There's comedy, action, and a great supporting cast, which, though it doesn't live up to its full potential, shines in the areas of Peter Boyle and particularly Jay Mohr, while the rest isn't at all bad. Though WB marketed it poorly, as, essentially, a movie, without anything in it, Pluto Nash ends up being an entertaining action comedy, and, though there isn't too much of either action or comedy, that's easily made up for in the CGI, the musical score (which I'm having trouble getting my hands on--I guess WB just didn't put it out), and, especially, the amazing set design, which made the movie a great spectacle in Little America, Moon Beach, the Lunar Grand, and Club Pluto. The plot can be read about in the other reviews, and all I'm saying is that this is a fun movie that doesn't deserve its bad rap.
