Summary: Had high expectations, very disappointed!
Review: I am a huge Swingers fan and was looking forward to seeing Made on DVD. Luckily I rented it before buying. Vince Vaughn's character is one of the worst characters I've seen in any movie. He is way to annoying. And what was all of the hype with Puff Daddy. He didn't impress me. This is not a mob movie. Do not see it. (...)

Summary: Boring
Review: Vince Vaughn's character was extremely annoying, at one point I just wanted him to get whacked so that he would shut up for once. Jon Favreau was alright, at least he didn't talk so much. Famke is very pretty and her acting is good, but whoever wrote her two-scene-role (Favreau, I suppose) did a lousy job. First she's that normal girl stuck with the wrong job, next thing she's a crackhead. What in the world happened? The two stars go for Puffy, very impressed with his appearence, even though I don't like his music. I was pretty much bored the whole time watching this movie, lacked any sense at all, I'd rather be watching the News at 11, if you know what I mean. Just my 2 cents.

Summary: Funnier than Swingers
Review: I felt this was a great movie and the combination of Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn in Made is better than that of the two in Swingers. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge Swingers fan, but Made is just as good. Vince Vaughn is hilarious how he always finds a way to screw everything up. His quotes in the movie are some of his best I've ever heard and Favreau gives a great performance as well. If you liked Swingers then you'll love Made.

Summary: This DVD is great
Review: For those of you who are interested in getting a great movie that is packed with worthwhile DVD extra's, this is the ticket. You can read other reviews for information on the plot and characters, I'm going to tell you about the great DVD extras. There is your basic theatrical trailer/production notes/cast and crew bios. Just about every DVD has that stuff, and a lot of DVD's stop there. Not this one. First off, there is an insightful and funny commentary track with Favreau and Vaughn. They have "action" commentary, where the two commentators have the ability to draw on the screen, pointing out things of visual interest. If this sort of thing gets annoying to you, you can turn off the "action" commentary and just listen to their voices. There are also a lot of deleted scenes, which have optional director commentary. There are also some HILARIOUS outtakes which are funnier than the movie at times. There are three featurettes, which include interviews with the cast and crew. You can also listen to all the "music cues" in their entirety, which is essentially the score to the movie, as well as a bunch of music that didn't make it into the fim. There is also a scene editing workshop, where you can cut and paste different lines into a scene (fun!). This DVD contains some of the most entertaining extras I've seen. All too often I find the bonus features boring, but these are great, and I HIGHLY recommend this DVD to those who appreciate the creative process of film.

Summary: One of the Funniest Comedies Ever!
Review: Made is a film with a lot of problems, and I could harp on those problems, but then I remember just how hard I laughed and just how well Vince Vaughn acted and for some reason the faults fade from my mind. I could argue that the plot--what there is of plot--has holes galore, or that the screenplay has an uneven focus that can't seem to decide who the main character is, but this film is just far too entertaining to ever warrant such attention--and so regardless, it gets a perfect rating from me NOT because it is a perfect film, but because it entertained me perfectly.

As I said, watching this film will undoubtedly make you a Vince Vaughn fan. He's either a truly superb actor with impeccable comedic timing or a natural idiot--I'm hoping for the former. Vaughn makes this movie. He is the reason all five stars are there, because everything to come out of his mouth--even everything that DOESN'T come out of his mouth, from his imbecilic stuttering--verifies the brilliance of the actor.

Beyond Vaughn, however, is a brilliant script that, despite the faults in plot, is extremely entertaining and that repeatedly introduces quirky characters that are entertaining (ie. P. Diddy typecast, and Screech--yes, Screech; you have to see it to believe it!). Much like the past Favreau/Vaughn effort Swingers, they must be applauded for skirting the typical preachy climax that most other films succumb to, though Swingers admittedly better displayed character development. Made, on the other hand packs what I consider to be a greater emotional punch that is both unexpected and appropriate.

And still the film remains utterly hilarious from start to finish--from Favreau's script, yes, but Vaughn will take most of the attention. There is just so much good stuff happening in the film, I can't imagine it possible for anyone to exit the theatre unsatisfied. This film easily assumes a position on my favorites list, again, not because of its perfection, but because it is the paradigm of a perfectly fulfilling comedy. Just don't expect an intellectually stimulating film; watch it for what it is: hilarious!

Summary: Better Than Swingers....
Review: This movie is hilarious. The balance between Jon Favreau's character and Vince Vaughn is what makes the entire film worth watching. Vince Vaughn is brilliant at playing an idiot. Rather than taking the Adam Sandler approach to comedy and talking in a silly voices, Vaughn plays a goofy character who actually thinks he's smart. Anybody who becomes annoyed by Vince Vaughn while watching this is just further proof of how well he plays the agitator in this film...

Review: Vince Vaughn is at his idiot best!! Great movie!!!!

Summary: A Hidden Gem!
Review: "Made" blew flew theatres faster than a gale force wind, but the fact is that this movie was a lot more entertaining than the typical hollywood fare. I went to it without knowing exactly what it was or what it was about but I came out of the theatre totally satisfied and laughing along with all the other audience members.
"Made" is an unusual comedy about two loosers who have been given their first big assignment with the mafia. Jon Favreau plays the more responsible of the two, and it is his performance that perfectly frames the beyond-belief antics of Vince Vaughn. Vaughn's character is a total con-artist, and you get the impression that he totally slides through life on his charisma. Vaughn manages to make a mess out of virtually every situation he is in, it is the type of thing that would normally be unbearable to watch if it wasn't so representative of so many of the people you have to deal with on a daily basis. Actually, a good part of Vaughn's performance is that he never becomes annoying, but remains a satirical exaguration of real-life people so that you are able to laugh with him rather than at him. The movie becomes a series of situations that make you feel like you are in a conversation with two extreemly witty people who keep driving the discussion by saying, "don't you hate it when people do this?" and then explain it further with a piece of situational drama that is so perfect you are immediately thrown into hysterics.
Almost as a bonus, there is a story that underlies this series of jokes that is actually quite compelling. But make no mistake, the reason to watch this movie is all Vince Vaughn. He is given total free reign in a role that allows for anything and he makes the most of his opportunity. I cannot think of any other actor that could have pulled this off so convincingly. It is too bad that "Made" turned out to be a movie of such minor impact because Vaughn's performance is the perfect combination of performer and role. In an era where Hollywood typically casts somebody who is the flavor of the moment, rather than truly right for the part, it is refreshing to see the right actor in the right part at the right time for a change. The movie is worth taking a look at just for that alone.
