Rating: Summary: Well Made Review: Made was done so for less than $5 million and penny for penny has more laughs and character than most of the slop Hollywood is famous for. Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau are back together again. The first time since Swingers. Vince and Jon are A perfect comedy team that ranks up there with Mathau and Lemmon, Martin and Lewis, and Pryor and Wilder. Vince Vaughn polarized his smooth talking character Trent who stole several scenes in Swingers and made a catch phrase out of the word "money." Jon Favreau wrote the script and directed the movie with an eye for detail. Both seem more interested with character development rather than plot but that in no way harms the movie. Extras include a couple short documetaires, and a bunch or deleted scenes and outtakes that are worth price of admission alone. The commentary track is a gem with Jon and Vince having a video chalkboard discussion of the film with the executive producer Peter Billingsly "sitting on the couch."
Rating: Summary: Made DVD Review: I've read the reviews on Made but most were in reference to the movie itself, the theatrical version. I just have to say that the DVD is awesome as well. The outtakes & deleted scenes are hilarious. The commentary track is also great. There is also a lot more than to the bonus material than just these. Favreau & Vaughn had to stay true to the story so they couldn't let Ricky just run wild the entire movie. They eliminated some scenes that they felt didn't serve the story as well, which are even funnier than those that made it into the movie. There is little in the world funnier than seeing Vince Vaughn just go crazy... "What's the most important pattern? The per diem!" And the penguins flapping...DEFINITELY a MUST buy!!
Rating: Summary: Very Entertaining Movie Review: The only time I have actually seen this movie was when I rented it a few weeks ago, and I gotta say that this is one of the most entertaining movies I have seen in a while. I am the type of person who studies the way an actor works in a movie and Favreau and Vaughn and the rest of the cast do a good job including Poof Daddy. I think Vaughn is the most entertaining face in the movie, he did a great job in portraying the most annoying and obnoxious best friend any human being can have (...) he would always say the wrong things at the wrong time, and I have one or two friends who are like that. And there is some cool cameos in this picture which include, Tom Morello from RATM, he was the best man getting the rub down from the blonde stripper at the bachelor party, then you got Jonathan Silverman, the other guy at the bachelor party, and the washed up Screech from Saved By The Bell.
Rating: Summary: Note to Favreau... Review: Obnoxious and annoying is not the same as funny. Vince's Ricky character was not one bit funny and pretty much ruined it for me. I was hoping time and time again he would just get killed off. Unfortunately he wasn't. I only wish I had rented this instead of bought it. Not a good follow up to Swingers at all.
Rating: Summary: Ignore other reviews Review: I'll keep this short. This is a funny movie. This film is made to make you laugh. I have seen bad reviews of this movie, but they are all comparing it to a film of a different genre (snatch). THIS IS A COMEDY!! I've read that Vince Vaughn's character (Ricky) becomes annoying. Most of us have that friend who always says the wrong thing at the wrong time, that is Ricky. "Swingers" is one of my favorite movies, but mostly my guy friends liked it. "Made" is much funnier, and my girl-friends laughed just as hard as my guy-friends. Most of the comedies I have seen in recent years are boring or annoying, but this is one that had me laughing out loud.
Rating: Summary: You must buy this Review: I loved this DVD. I love Jon and Vince, and they don't disappoint in this film. Something you can watch over and over again.
Rating: Summary: Great follow-up to Swingers Review: After Artisan managed to butcher "Made"'s box-office run, it's at least nice to see that this DVD is extremely well made. (no pun intended) Favreau has taken the best features of "Swingers", added it to a very different plot, and come up with as good of a follow-up to "Swingers" as anyone could have ever hoped for. Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau makes a great comedic team as usual, and their chemistry is even greater than it was in "Swingers". The extras on the DVD are also pretty sweet, with outtakes, deleted scenes, audio commentary, etc. An an added bonus, the screenplay is also included - great stuff! Overall, this is a movie that "Swingers" fans will love, as it's similar in style, yet very different plot wise. Best movie of 2001 for me.
Rating: Summary: You will wish you had never seen this movie.. Review: This movie left me sick to my stomach. Prior comments on this movie are obviously tounge-in-cheek, but folks, c'mon, this was garbage- plain and simple. For the length of the movie, we follow two friends, who have a running gag of always engaging in petty pushing contests, and act boorishly for the sake of a few laughs. P Diddy's role in the film is diminutive, and Vincent Pastore is used sparingly - playing a limo driver, what a shame..This movie never really blossomed into a sophisticated and enthralling crime escapade movie, however conversely sunk deep into the lethargic torpor of bad jokes and poor acting. This movie was not ha ha funny, and the plot certainly didn't grab hold of you, it was just marginal.. Please, don't waste your time. If you like this genre of movie, stick to Snatch or LSTSM, which are both masterpieces.
Rating: Summary: gag Review: I found the Vince Vaughn to be completely and utterly obnoxious for the entire movie. (...) Plot - pointless - who cares? Favreau wants to make some money so his girlfriend can quit her stripper job and take care of her little girl. Favreau and Vaughn go to New York on a info as need to know "drop" mission of some sort... basically to fascillitate an exchange between criminals. Favreau's original purpose echoes only once in the entire duration of his trip to NY when he makes a call home. Plot? Point? UGH. 2 (...) boxer friends who CONSTANTLY fight. I gleaned no satisfaction from this movie. It seems the only point was for Vaughn to (...) flap his jaw the ENTIRE length of the movie. I loved Swingers, I hated Made.
Rating: Summary: Another must have DVD from Fav and Vaughn Review: Although Made is no Swingers, it is still a great movie. It gets better when you watch it for the second time. The dialogue is funny as hell, just like in Swingers. Even though it's low budget, it is shot beautifully. The music is cool. There are a ton of extras on the dvd that make this movie trully awesome. The outakes, deleted scenes and alternate scenes are some of the best laughs. This dvd is jam packed, plus Made is a great movie. Everyone who liked Swingers or just like original comedies should get this.
