Rating: Summary: This is a must-watch film if....... Review: If you like the conversational pace and humor of Swingers, or have a good sense of humor in general, you'll love this film.Jon Favreau did a spectacular job of writing and directing this film, but, honestly, Vince steals the show with his hilarious acting. Some of the lines he spits out are so darn funny. He truly doesn't seem like he is acting with the way he so naturally delivers his lines. The line he delivers while offering a $50 tip to the cocktail waitress while entertaining in a NYC bar is worth the price of the DVD itself.
Rating: Summary: Interesting Commentary Review: The movie is interested although somewhat strange. I really enjoyed watching the commentary. Vince and John (we're on a first name basis for this review) clearly enjoy making movies and this came across in the commentary. They are so NOT pretentious like some other directors can be.
Rating: Summary: Stupid film, looks like it was written by 12 year olds. Review: DOn't bother with this one. Though I am a HUGE fan of Swingers and the Sopranos. (Some of the cast is used in this film) I cannot recommend you watch this moive. It's about 2 incompetant, small time thugs. One who wants out of the Mob and to settle down with his stripper girlfriend and her daughter. The other wanting to be a bigger part of the Mob, but with the brain power of a gnat. It's more annnoying than funny. Like a bad imitation of Dumb and Dumber.
Rating: Summary: Made Review: If you love Swingers then you will probably like this movie which is more about the natural chemistry between the actors than the story.
Rating: Summary: very funny but a little too much Review: i am a huge swingers fan. but, this film was a lot different. it was extremely funny and i liked the ways they made me laugh. but, i could have done without all the strong language. it seemed like they dropped f-bombs in their just to get an R rating. otherwise a well made film and a funny one at that.
Rating: Summary: Did others watch the same movie??? Review: Boring and stupid. Do not waste your money. I wanted to rent this from NetFlix but they didn't have it. Now I know why. Instead we bought it and would now like to take it back. There were four of us watching it and 2 of them fell asleep. The rest of us watched Spy Kids after watching Made and it was better. While the one character was somewhat funny for awhile, his attitude and stupidity grew old quickly. The acting was good maybe even great but the plot was limp. It could have been a great storyline had they added more content. We watched the Outtakes hoping to see something funnier. WRONG! These were the worst outtakes I have ever seen and believe me, I watch a ton of movies!
Rating: Summary: This...Show Was...really...Worthless Review: Not only was the shallow plot poorly acted there would have been only three (3) lines of dialog in this movie if the F-word was eliminated from the script, assuming there was a script...Not much thought seemed to have gone into the script so there's not much to get out of it. If this movie had a humorous plot it certainly got lost in the lack of coherence that permeated each scene, if there were scenes. It wasn't worth the effort to try to follow or care where the plot, or lack thereof, was going. Don't bother.
Rating: Summary: nothing like the swingers Review: For those of you considering this movie because you loved The Swingers, I strongly discourage you to buy this movie. It's nothing like The Swingers, it doesn't have the smart dialogue, good charicter interaction and it definitely lacks humor. Throughout the whole movie not only did I not laugh but this movie failed to get any kind of response from me. So don't make the same mistake I did by purchasing this movie!
Rating: Summary: Not a perfect film, but worthy of 5 stars nonetheless Review: This film, which was greatly improvised on the set, is a genuinely comical and entertaining film. While far from a life-altering, enigmatic, well-crafted, and spiritual masterpiece, the film retains its own merits by admittedly and conspicuously straying from weighty subject matter and excessive attention to detail. For example, there are quite a few obvious continuity errors and a boom mic seen in a mirror. However, these "mistakes" have no negative impact on the film. On the commentary track, Favreau and Vaughn point out every one of these "flaws," while claiming that for this type of film such miniscule shortcomings are inconsequential. This film--unlike most--is completely about the characters, as opposed to the filmmaking style, the plot, or any significant theme. It is merely a portrayal of two average guys estranged in a world of violence and crime. The profusion of profanities throughout the film may be a hindrance to the appreciation of some viewers; however, to others it simply adds yet another element of humor. In one particular scene on the "action commentary" with Favreau and Vaughn, they point out the ridiculous realms of obscenity that the characters travel to, by tallying up the number of uses of the "F-word" in a one minute argument. They are not expressing an adoration for such language; rather, they are mocking their own inabilities as actors, writers, and as human beings. When viewed from this perspective the film is infinitely more enjoyable. What sets this film above so many others--enough to be given five stars--is the complacency with which the filmmakers dared to produce and release such a simplistic, far-fetched, and somewhat dull film. That is not to say that the film lacks energy or progression, but just that it does not display those attributes with the methods that American film audiences are accustomed to, causing it to seem to drag or become self-indulgent at times. I've done a poor job of justifying my 5 star rating, but that's because of the inherent mysterious appeal of the film. It is just original in so many respects, while also being quite familiar in others. Such contradicting elements in a single entity is an intriguing concept.
Rating: Summary: Not Funny, Not Good. Review: I don't understand what everyone on this review page is talking about. I thought the movie was one of the worst movie's I've seen in quite a while. I love this genre, and I loved Swingers, but Made was terrible. The plot was stupid, the jokes were not funny. I read in one review that one of the funny things was the references it made to Swingers. I'm sorry, but a licsense plate is not funny. Neither is the fact that Vince Vaughn used the word "honey." I refuse to laugh at a movie just because I think I'm supposed to. It has to actually be funny, and this one was not.
