Summary: Andrew Bergman 's Hilarious High-brow comedy
Review: While Alan Arkin and Peter Falk are terrific in this film, the real comic genius here is Andrew Bergman, New Yorker and SUNY grad, who wrote the script. (He also wrote Blazing Saddles.) The In-Laws is one of his best and funniest movies. It's hilarious, but not low-brow comedy. There's nothing offensive, so it's truly a family film as well.

Summary: Crumble a saltine in it, Shel, that will absorb the grease
Review: Absolutely one of the funniest films ever made. My favorite scene is the cafeteria scene where they're screaming to each other about federal crimes they may have committed while everyone is staring at them. Best line (other than above): "You can rinse now, dear."

Summary: The In-Laws
Review: This is my favorite comedy. Peter Falk is great in it. I have seen this movie about 5 times, and every time I see it I crack up laughing at the scene with the car chase on the highway. The airplane scene was also very funny. I am laughing right now just thinking about it.

Summary: My Mom Died Laughing
Review: One of my fondest childhood memories -- not just watching this movie in the theater, but watching my mom uncontrollably laughing until she almost peed her pants. I just realized this would be a perfect Mother's day gift -- some 20 years later.

Summary: The Greatest Comedy of All Time
Review: I have popped this movie into my VCR so many times that I am on my second copy of the videotape. The dialogue is brilliant, the acting is unbelievable (you can see Arkin's stage background) and the whole movie has enough subtlety to reward each viewing. I can't recommend this movie strongly enough.

Summary: The In-Laws is Insanely Funny
Review: Serpentine, Shelley!

It would be a crime to give away almost anything about this movie, as each surprise is also an uproarious laugh fest. Let's just say that after a somewhat slow and amusing first 20 minutes, the movie takes off at a hilarious pace and never slows down again.

The synopsis is fairly simple: a respected dentist meets his daughter's future in-laws, immediately determines that the groom's father is crazy, and in a reluctant attempt to accept the situation, gets sucked into a rediculously funny web of international intrigue.

The performances are perfection. Alan Arkin as the bewildered dentist and Peter Falk as the possibly looney in-law are perfectly cast, as is the entire supporting cast of crazies.

This is the kind of movie that you gather a bunch of close friends to watch late at night, so that no one will be too inhibited to laugh out loud at it, which everyone will most certainly be doing.

Summary: Still Laughing!
Review: You've read the other reviews and they have it right. This is one of those rare films where everything jells. The plot, dialogue, the comedic nuances--EVERYTHING! I judge comedies not only by their ability to tickle belly laughs from me that very first time, but also by getting me again and again. I cannot watch this movie without laughing my way through it.

Summary: Falk and Arkin are just brilliant!
Review: By far this comedy is a total laugh riot! Peter Falk is the foil to Alan Arkin's straightman. The two play off each other so well. An extremely well crafted script and dynamic performance from the Hong Brother's Airline pilots to the insane general with a painted hand as his second in command! Pure insanity and a belly buster from start to finish. This is a must for any pure comedy fans!

Summary: A parade of classic lines & scenes.
Review: Arkin's ability to play the bewildered victim is genius! His facial expressions are worth the cost of the movie. The movie also contains one of the best comedic car chases I've seen.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I won't spoil it for you, and tell you how it ends!
Review: Let me say this...YOU ARE GOING TO LAUGH, and LAUGH and LAUGH. Is this movie funny? You bet it is, one of the funniest. And, this is real comedy, nothing dumb, or dumber, about it. Peter Falk, he's the one who made Colombo an icon on television...well, he is going to crack you up. And, Alan Arkin? He is stupendous! This is one funny movie, one you will laugh at whenever, and no matter how many times, you see it. I tell everybody, if you want to laugh (and it is good to laugh)...SEE THIS MOVIE!
