Summary: if I had a time machine...
Review: ... I'd go back in time and stop myself from seeing this movie. I wasted 2 hours of my life that I can't get back. I wasn't entertained in the slightest degree. I like a good comedy and it doesn't have to be that smart of a comedy, just funny... this was both stupid and not funny. Accolades to the one who edited the trailer... definitely not the same chap who edited the film. Dear God, it was awful!

Summary: Wicked satire of the superhero
Review: Well, this movie sank without a trace when it was out at cinema's and this is probably the only opportunity to take a look. It is a fantastic satire on the superhero genre which is timely given the imminent release of "X-Men" in theatres shortly.

This is a who's who of great and underrated comic actors - Ben Stiller, Janene Garofolo, Greg Kinnear to name a few with the magnificent Geoffrey Rush shining as super-villain Casanova Frankenstein. Witness the scene as William H. Macy's 'Shoveller' is forced to confront for the first time that Captain Amazing and millioniare Luke Hansen may be one and the same person - this alone is worth the price of the video. And there are so many other great moments.

Unjustly maligned, this deserves to be a top seller and viewed with the skewed humour with which it was filmed.

Summary: possibly the worst movie of the year
Review: Dead-brain directing and timing. Jokes that were predictable, jokes you got, but didn't laugh at. Really really bad movie. Avoid this lame duck like the plague.

Summary: Do NOT see this movie if you have a brain or if you're sober
Review: Those with intelligence will be insulted by this movie. If you're drop-dead drunk, it might be entertaining... but when you're drop-dead drunk, you can also be entertained by looking at a brick. Not funny. Period. This movie did not deliver laughs. The preview got me in the theater, then I felt as though I'd been taken on a ride. It was hard to stay awake due to the stupid, non-stimulating story and poorly timed jokes. Bad, bad film. Save your money - I wish I had!

Summary: Great for inducing comas
Review: Having trouble sleeping or just want to be put in a trance? This is the ticket. The previews were funny only because someone else directed them and edited them. This movie was horrendous. If you get totally wasted and your thinking has slowed down to about a tenth of normal speed, you might actually laugh at the poorly timed jokes and slapstick. Anyone with a life, a brain or a good sense of humor (by the standards of other people, not yourself) should avoid this movie like you would bad milk. It stinks on ice.

Summary: possibly the worst movie in history
Review: That sums it up. Save your money. This was not a comedy, but it was a farce. Life is too short to waste 2 hours of it watching this dreadful mess.

Summary: one of the worst movies of record
Review: Just plain awful. No redeeming qualities, just a stupid piece of film, wasted money, wasted talent, wasted time. NOT FUNNY, unless you leave your brain at home.

Summary: friends don't let friends see this movie
Review: This has got to be the worst movie ever made. It was just awful. Billed as a comedy, it evoked no laughter. I saw this when it came out and the theater was packed. I heard one chuckle from the audience during the entire movie. Not only did I not laugh, neither did 200+ people watching it. Just awful. Save your money and tell your friends.

Summary: A good, light-hearted look into the world of superheroes....
Review: I thought that this was an excellent film. It was funny, it had an amusing plot, and it had both jokes and morals-to-the-stories thrown in wiht equal ease. The group of actors clicked together as a group of underdog, unheard-of superheroes that have to gather the means and the courage to come to the rescue at the last minute.

Summary: One of the better parody films.
Review: This, along with SPACEBALLS and YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, are my favorite films that parody a certain subject (i.e. SPACEBALLS parodied Star Wars, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN parodied the classic horror films). Here, with MYSTERY MEN, we have a parody of comic book superheroes and the BATMAN movies of the past decade (see the Burton-esque designs and camera movements!). Highly reccomended if you're a comic buff. If you're not, then take a chance.
