Summary: People find this FUNNY?
Review: I've had to sit/sleep/complain my way through this thing two times more than I should have. (I've seen this movie, oddly enough, twice) I can't comprehend why so many people find this sort of low-brow humor amusing. (I guess the same geniouses who went to see Dumb and Dumber) I really hated that short little snot whose only claim to fame was being on Murphey Brown. (whoop) The quality of direction sort of reminds me of something I could have done with a home video camera, a bath tub, and a couple of toy boats. (I mean, come on! How many of you REALLY believed that was a full-sized ship they showed during the water scenes? Raise your hands please :::::silence::::: I thought not.)

Summary: Hilarious swashbuckling adventure
Review: Set in the fictional medieval kingdom of Florin, this swashbuckling adventure tells us the tale of Wesley and the princess-to-be Buttercup, told through the eyes of a grandfather reading this story to his grandson. With pirates, sword-fighting, murder, intrigue (not to mention a fantastic cast) this tongue-in-cheek medieval adenture is so feelgod and just plain fun that you won't be able to help yourself from laughing.

The casting is impeccable - and they are clearly having a lot of fun in their roles. It's a testament to how good the script is, that the characters are all so amusing and endearing! By the end you'll be feeling genuine affection for Wesley, Inigo, Fessick and even Prince Humperdink (the "bad guy".)

This is a really great comedy for both watching with your girlfriend/boyfriend or with the family. Much like Sesame Street, kids will thoroughly enjoy it, whilst adults will pick up the whole slew of subtle jokes throughout the film.

Overall, a very enjoyable comedy adventure - definitely one of my favourite films. It will have you laughing and feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

Summary: Why this movie works
Review: For me, the lasting appeal of this movie, besides the obvious strengths of casting and writing, is the seamless way Reiner and Goldman have worked in darker themes along with the slapstick and romantic love. There's an almost Brothers' Grimm-like somberness to some of the scenes -- the fireswamp is not a silly place; Westley really does get chewed up by the ROUS; the torture scenes are uncomfortably convincing, thanks to Christopher Guest's presiding Count Rugen, a bad guy who does not mess around. Plus there's the interesting way Westley toys with Buttercup's feelings just before he reveals his true identity -- a game he seems to relish. All this raises the emotional stake we have in the characters, making the inevitable happy ending something they have really worked for, not a plot device thrown in by lazy writers. And for sheer movie romance, there is NOTHING that can top the way Cary Elwes looks at Robin Wright in the opening scenes.

Summary: Adventure
Review: This movie has always been one of my favorites. A childhood favorite, my friends and I have been able to recite some of the catch phrases from this film for years. The story centers on the love affair of an innocent man and woman and what the lengths they will go through to be together. Some unlikely heroes emerge that are unique and fantastic as they are courageous. The best part about this movie is the wonderful characters and lines that are introduced.

Why 5 stars?: This movie is nothing but fun. It is not the waste of film that Tom Greene and Jim Carrey have brought to today's theatres. Rather, it is a fun tale of the hero rescuing the damsel in distress with an odd assortment of characters thrown into the mix. Anyone with the smallest bit of a sense of humor will love this tale.

Summary: I TRULY, TRULY, LOVE THIS MOVIE!!
Review: What an excellent movie!! Indeed a collectible for me. I love the humor, the characters; Billy crystal and Andre the Giant are superb. I love the part where Princess Buttercop and Wesley are on the top of a huge hill and they are not getting along and arguing, and finally she pushes him down the steep hill saying " For all I care you could die" (something like that) and he says while tumbling down the hill " AS-YOU-WISH!". And then she saids "Oh my poor Wesley what have I done". And she throws herself down the hill and they both come tumbling down the hill. Another favorite scene has to be the fencing scene. It's priceless...."Hello my name is Antonio Gutieres you killed my father prepare to die"..... Hilarious, and then Indigo (I think that's his name)takes of running. I love that part! All in all this romance/comedy is one of my all time favorite movies. I highly recommend this movie if you like that kind of wacky, bizarre, funny but extremely a 'true love story'. A must see movie, definantely!!

Summary: Classy
Review: The Princess Bride is a classic in the truest sense of the word. As a comedy, the jokes are funny and don't lose anything as time goes on. It's message is timeless, if a bit overstated. It's a beautiful, though silly, fantasy movie outside of the comedy. And the ROUS's? I don't think they exist.

Summary: I love this movie~!
Review: I first watched this movie in my aunt's place last x'mas, the minute i saw it, i fell in love with it! I thought it was "Inconceivable"~! I never had any respect for old movies (well, maybe except for 'gone with the wind') but this one really captured my attention. Westley and Buttercup are seperated and 5 years later, Buttercup is engaged to Prince Humperdinck. The Dread Pirate Roberts comes and rescues her; what she doesn't know is that the pirate is her beloved Westley. Westley is seperated from Buttercup but with the help of Inigo and Fezzik, he saves his darling princess... *note: The spelling in this passage regarding the characters' names might be incorrect. Anyway, I hope you like this movie because i do~~~~

Summary: A CLASSIC, with a little of everything for everybody.
Review: This is one of my favorite movies! It has a great love-story, sword fighting, lots of great laughs.... it is just an all-around great movie! And even better yet, it's one you can watch with the whole family.... having no swearing or nudity, and just a little bit of violence (like the ROUS's). :> Andre the Giant plays a great, well, giant of course. Vizzini the humorous genious, Inigo Montoya the great fencer wanting revenge for his father's untimely death, the 6-fingered man, the spoiled brat of a prince, the Princess Bride, and of course, Wesely, our hero! I definitely recommend this movie for the whole family. Watch it more than once! It gets better and better every time you see it. :>
