Summary: Little Black Book - Cute!
Review:
Little Black Book is a very cute and girlie movie. The story is about a gir's discovery of her inner self and of who she really is by discovering all the secrets of her boyfriend's past relationships.

Britney Murphy's performance is also cute and fuzzy, just like how she always has been. I like Britney Murphy for her little craziness and ditsiness, so it was nice to see her performance of a similar role in this movie.

This movie is girlie enough for a slumber party. Very cute. I recommend it!

Summary: Don't waste your time
Review: As much as I like Brittany Murphy, I was disappointed & thought this movie would have been better. Brittany got to sing in 2 scenes which is probably a promo for her new album that she will be releasing. Do yourself a favor a skip this one.

Summary: Real fun - if you're a masochist
Review: I can honestly think of hundreds(if not thousands) of better ways to spend my time than watch this drivel. I fell asleep watching it and did not regret it in the least(falling asleep that is). The whole Carly Simon thing is overblown and not in the least bit funny or endearing. Didn't laugh once. Pure torture.

Summary: Men should come with letters of recommendation
Review: I can safely say, that if you saw this movie with your boyfriend/husband/someone severely paranoid, you'd probably end up single. And happy, cos if the guy was that shallow, then he wouldn't be totally worth it.

I totally loved this movie. I only really bought it for Brittany Murphy, as she's so cool, and I loved her skirt on the cover of the DVD! I want that skirt! Where's the sun?! I loved how it started off with Carly Simon's "You're So Vain", with all her songs (that was the only one I recognised) on the soundtrack, and in one scene, Brittany sings very badly. I can't believe one early reviewer mentioning this was promo for an album! Are you serious?! The girl can't sing!!! And the second song, she was clearly lip-synching along to someone else's voice. Watch out for the cute cute dog as well - so cute it needs to be said twice. He's gorgeous!!!

Only one quibble about Brittany - she seems to be shrinking before our very eyes. She was a lot more curvier in Just Married, although not overly curvacious. Now, she's turns sideways, and she could literally disappear.

The focus was also very inconsistent, it couldn't decide whether it wanted to focus on the relationship, the girl, the job, Stacey & Barb, or Ira. It also can't decide what kind of movie it is. It's a very realistic view of (American) television, and all the backstabbing etc, that goes on behind the scenes.

The finale of the movie ties up a couple of loose ends, but I was left feeling cheated by it at the end. Why wasn't there a nice happy ending? Why do they have to bring back an ex, who could become the boyfriend again, only to find out he's married to someone heavily pregnant.

Warning: this movie must not be watched by shallow guys. You'll be instantly single, or you'll never be trusted again.

Summary: One positve came from this...
Review: I notice most people thought Holly Hunter was great in this film but she just annoyed me! Basically she drove me nuts-It felt like forced acting from her. This movie basically was terrible-the parts that made me laugh were towards the end and should have started the movie and continuted from there! I didn't really care for any of it except one part and that was the cameo by Gavin Rossdale (Bush-lead singer) and that was it. That is the only reason I am keeping this DVD is because Bush was and still one of my favorite bands of all time! Watch if you want but warning it is not the best movie ever made.

Summary: Good date movie
Review: I really enjoyed this one and was sorry I missed it in the theater. Brittney Murphy plays Stacy Holt, a woman who starts dating a guy who she belives is Mr. Right. Then she gets a job as a producer on a talk show. While her boyfriend is out on a bussness trip, she learns he once dated a supermodel. She is upset because he never told her this before. Then she finds his Palm Pilot and through it finds out about his other ex-girlfriends, and decides to learn all about his past life.

Even though the main character does some pretty bad things in the film, we can't help but feel sorry for her. Murphy is a very charasmatic actress and I liked her alot in this film. The rest of the cast was also good, and the film has alot of funny moments. (The best, at least in my humble opinion, is when Stacy decides to investigate Dr. Rachel Keys, whom Stacy thinks is a podiatrist, by pretending to be a patient. Let's just say Keys isn't the kind of doctor Stacy thought she was.)

Anyway, this is a great film to watch with your significant other. Enjoy!

Summary: Hidden value in this movie
Review: I took me awhile to see any value in this movie. The high point of the film (which I believe is unintentional) is when the main actress becomes a victim of the studio for which she works. One of her coworkers points out that the television industry can continually victimize others in talk shows, dating games, and survivor venues but how does it feel when it is turned on its very producers? Everything turns out "happily ever after" in the end but does it really? Given our current television programming mentality, we ought to ask ourselves, "What have we been reduced to?"

Summary: Misses something
Review: LBB is a romantic movie, but the real problem is that none of the characters are likable. They're all evil, and the only good one is Ira. There are good parts to the movie, but there's a lot to leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Summary: Brittany Murphy opens the Book, I mean, the Palm
Review: This movie examines the lives of a woman, her boyfriend, and several of the past women in his life after they are "discovered" on his palm pilot. Brittany Murphy stars as the suspicious lover who is egged on by her co- worker, who is played by Holly Hunter, to look into her boyfriends palm pilot to find out about his past relationships. She gives in to the temptation and she doesn't like what she sees.

The plot of this movie is a little bit more original than other films. No secret love letters are found here- the device that exposes everything is a palm pilot. And the different performers in the movie are brought together in the end as part of a talk show episode. The show happens to be one where Brittany Murphy is employed. This has the makings for a halfway interesting movie, but it doesn't quite succeed.

Of all the mishaps in this film, the ones that bother me most are the mundane dialogue and the unreal and contrived parts of the script. Throughout the movie, we are forced to listen to Brittany Murphy as she narrates some scenes and tries to communicate what she is feeling to the other women (who do not know she is dating their ex- boyfriend). The script isn't funny at all, even though the movie is billed as a romantic comedy. And the fact that the other women include a brainless model and a gynecologist is contrived and unreal. Also, it bothered me that the main actor in the movie, Ron Livingston (the boyfriend) is only shown on the screen for about ten to fifteen minutes tops. He deserved more time than this, since he is one of the main parts of the plot.

This is a weak movie any way you cut it, and most people will probably find it forgettable. I have seen worse, yes, but I have also seen better attempts at romantic comedies than this one. With a few exceptions (like Holly Hunter and Kathy Bates) this movie is a throwaway- the type that will be completely forgotten by everyone about a year after its release.
