Summary: Crap, Crap, and More Crap
Review: Honestly, I just hated this damm picture!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Plenty to look at but little to see.
Review: I came away from watching it one time with a feeling that there were lots of pretty women to see, a pretty good ending but a lot of wasted time at the start of the movie.

With only two characters I cared about only slightly and a story that I never really could get into; I can only assume that I missed the point of the movie. That said this is probably not a movie for everyone.

Other people said you may have to watch it more than once to enjoy the movie and this may be the case, but it will be a while before I watch this movie again.

My review is from the regular release DVD, but from what I have read would also apply to the unrated release.

Summary: (...)
Review: I have a feeling this will be one of those that everyone didn't see or insisted they didn't like and then 3 or 4 years latter claim to be huge fans of, ala Office Space. (...) if you just sit back and watch you might just be pleasently suprised. The quality and originality of this comedy demand that is super-seeds any cult status, it deserves more. Give it a chance and get off your damn high horse.

Can't recommend it enough.

Summary: 20 minutes into this thing and I'm still not laughing.....
Review: I heard this was a comedy. After the first couple of minutes I thought there was something wrong with me. Why was I not laughing? Is it because I'm snooty when it comes to movies? No. Is it because I think I could have done it better? No. Is it because I thought that maybe I'd had a stroke just then and was unable to any longer discern humor? No. It's because this movie is NOT FUNNY.

Summary: good movie
Review: I liked this movie. It helps if you have a clue who Jimmy Buffett is or some of the jokes aren't that funny. The characters are great also - like the security guard! And the fun police rings familiar if you have ever been to a resort with an activities director. The movie is a horror spoof that actually is scary in parts. In being true to the genre there is a lot of pointless nudity. I have watched this movie about 10 times already. It is too hard to compare this to super troopers so don't even try. Plus pay attention to the words in the coconut pete songs like the line "mouth tastes like pinata turd". The Buffett style songs are funny as hell. This also comes off as a murder mystery as you are trying to find out who is killing all of the guests.

Summary: Great Movie
Review: I liked this movie. It is not as good as super troopers but the guys at broken lizard did a good job on this one. As a huge fan of Super Troopers and Puddle Cruiser and broken lizard in general I was not let down at all by this movie

Summary: This movie was DREADFUL
Review: I mean I am not some sort of movie snob who will only see art-house movies or anything like that but I just found this movie unwatchable. Out of the 3 friends I watched it with nobody liked it. Luckily I rented it!

Summary: son of a son of a bitch
Review: I personally think this movie is better than most do. It may not be as funny as Super Troopers but it is rather entertaining. I find Bill Paxton's second-rate Jimmy Buffet character Coconut Pete to be absolutely hysterical. The film serves its purpose of having little plot and some good laughs very well, but if your expecting some sort of artistic genius here stay away.

Summary: Huh???
Review: I realize everybody is entitled to their opinions and I totally respect that. But I still can't believe that so many people loved this movie. I enjoyed Super Troopers and thought it had some really funny moments, so I expected similar results from Club Dread. I honestly don't remember laughing once.

One major problem with the film is that it seemed like it couldn't decide between being a spoof of horror films or an actual horror film, and either way it failed to entertain. I just didn't find the dialogue or characters interesting, with one exception. I actually enjoyed Bill Paxton as Coconut Pete, an obvious reference to Jimmy Buffett. I thought the songs written by Coconut Pete were good parodies of some of Buffett's popular songs. But unfortunately that was not enough to carry the film very far.

Again, if you are a fan of Super Troopers and the Broken Lizard comedy troupe, then you may want to give this a chance. Hey, you might enjoy it a lot more than I did. However, if you are unfamiliar with them and are just looking for a random rental, I would recommend skipping this one.

Summary: What Happened?
Review: I really cringe only giving this 3 stars, but I really didn't enjoy this movie. I would have expected more from Broken Lizard. I guess I just expected comedy similar to that from Super Troopers, which is one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time. I actually fell asleep watching it, but I was also tired, so I may have missed some it, but what I did see (which was about an hours worth) was not up to my expectations. I hope that the next Broken Lizard production will have a straight focus on comedy rather than a lame attempt at a Scary Movie rip. I know they can do better, and Super Troopers is the obvious proof. I mean, they began a "cop comedy" genre, which laid foundation for things such as Comedy Central's Reno 911 (which is a good show, kinda corny, but good stuff). Next time, I hope Broken Lizard sticks to what it became famous for...COMEDY!
