Summary: Very Cool
Review: I thought American Pie would be as bad as all the other teenybopper films I had seen in 1999. However, this one was surprisingly enjoyable, I had a blast watching it. It has none of the 'best-film-ever-made' quality, but it was still hilarious, good-natured entertainment that any and every audience will enjoy.Jim (Jason Biggs), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), Oz (Chris Klein) and Finch (Eddie Kay Thomas) are 4 high school guys who are all desperate to score. That is when Kevin suggests they should make a pact; they must all get laid before the end of high school. That gives them a few major opportunities, including the fabulous school prom. Kevin is already one step ahead with his girlfriend Vicky (Tara Reid), Jim is still stranded on third base, Finch is developing a secretly raunchy reputation and Oz has a major leap to love with goody-goody choir-chick Heather (Mena Suvari). Thank God, American Pie is no lovely-dovey "She's All That", it is a rude, crude, silly, hip and outstandingly funny flick that deserves to get a mention in the 'teen-classic book'. Highly recommended for Friday night fun! I rate American Pie 8 out of 10.

Summary: Simply Hilarious
Review: I've always been a fan of lame jokes and the normal actions put forth in a teen movie, which is exactly what this is. The movie itself I found incredibly hilarious. As for the DVD features, (seeing how there are enough reviews pertaining to what the movie itself is about, I'll skip that) I found the Commentary to be absolutely the funniest thing I've heard. Also, don't let the "Unrated" fool you.. the couple added scenes are nothing that will change the story nor make it any more enjoyable, don't expect anything exceptional here. All in all, I found it to be a great movie.

Summary: Very few male sexuality movies... definitely a good one.
Review: There's a ton of movies out there about guys and gals losing their virginity (ala Porkies, Losin' It, etc...). They're a little funny, but pretty much just raunchy. This movie, on the other hand, actually shows you that part of male sexuality that most other movies don't deal with... I mean, the opening scene is a teen getting caught by his parents while watching scrambled porn (desperate, eh?) and in the middle of, well, you know... the naivete of his mother, being nearly convinced it's a 'Nature Show', and his father catching on... "Well... what are you hiding under there?" Hmmm... he's in deep doody, fer sure... well, okay, so it was a sock, but still... And what's with the pie? The awkwardness about male parental units discussing sexuality with the male children units, well, it's hysterical. Slums of Beverly Hills kinda humor, but funny, entertaining, and worth watching a second time. Whether you've got gals or guys as children, if you watch this with them, be prepped to explain a bunch... Lots of quotables in here... "This one time, at band camp..." Well, it's one I hear over and over and whenever the kids say it, it makes me laugh. Actually worth owning. Worth the price. Get it.

Review: I didn't see the rated version so I don't can't tell you what the difference is. This movie is your basic high school comedy. Eugene Levy does an awesome job as the father who does a great job during all the embarassing scenes. There is one nude scene which shows a girl topless. The language is raunchy as is fitting for a high school movie. However, the language was pornographic when one girl tells what she did during music camp. The unrated version is NC-17.

Summary: crude but amusing comedy
Review: If you are a person easily offended by a film dedicated primarily to the glory of teen sex, you may well view "American Pie" as yet another in a long line of cinematic harbingers of the collapse of western civilization. If, however, you remember adolescence as essentially a period of unending coitus interruptus, you may well find yourself engrossed by this amusing, though admittedly crude, series of sexual and scatalogical gags woven around a plot involving the desperate attempts of a quartet of last semester seniors to lose their virginity on the fast approaching sexual armageddon known as "prom night." "American Pie" gleans most of its comic energy from its outrageous examination of the crazy and innovative extremes desperately horny teens will go to in order to experience the thrill of sex in lieu of the real thing. An attractive, game cast helps to mitigate the crudity of many of their actions and the filmmakers' lighthearted tone encompasses the characters in such a cloak of affection that the audience identifies with, rather than condemns, their antics. As meager compensation for the moralists among us, the film does heavily promote the use of condoms and comes up with even more creative prophylactics for those times when a partner is not available. "American Pie" is certainly not for every taste and there are those who would argue that it serves a less than salutary purpose as a guide for already sex-obsessed teenagers. Be that as it may, the film provides a fair number of hearty chuckles for those of us who can find humor in a group of backward youngsters experiencing the frustration and desperation we have all, at one time, experienced. I do have one troubling question though: why do none of these characters, whenever they are involved in a potentially compromising position, ever lock a door? The answer, I suppose, is obvious for, if they did, at least half the film's biggest laughs would become impossible to achieve. For this film, at least, such a suspension of disbelief may be a prerequisite. Be forewarned but enjoy!

Review: It's lose it or loser in "American Pie," the 1999 Universal release about four high school senior boys determined to "score" with the right girl before prom night. Jim (Jason Biggs) is a teenager with an overload of hormones, trying everything from watching scrambled porn to making it to home base with an apple pie in his own kitchen. His friends, Kevin, Oz and Finch, all make a pact that they will lose their virginity by the time prom arrives, and the rest of the movie is a roller-coaster of hilarity as the four boys try each trick after another in hopes of scoring with the girls set in their sights. Supplied with a superb cast that includes "American Beauty's" Mena Suvari and Eddie Kaye Thomas from "The Rage: Carrie 2," the performances in this film are a sure-fire hit all by themselves. Screenwriter Adam Herz struck gold with the script for "American Pie," employing outrageous and sometimes subtle comedy while giving the audience something that they can relate to, whether it be through reminiscence or present experience. First-time directors Paul and Chris Weitz looked through the lens and captured one of the most enlightening and hilarious comedies of 1999, not to mention the decade. While some may think that the content of this movie is perverse and ruins the effect the movie will have on its viewers, let me take this moment to say that it only makes the film funnier, as we are able to laugh at the things that actually happen to high school adolescents all over the world. A movie that ranks up among such high-pitched comedies as "Happy Gilmore" and "Mrs. Doubtfire," "American Pie" will have you rolling in your seat with laughter from beginning to end.
